Great production and detail of the layouts. Certainly the hobby gives something to look forward to in 2024. Love your outfit also, lovely dress and tights.
Nice mix of layouts, and have to say the winter layout at the end was spectacular and can see why it would be the number 1. And the layouts in a box where nice to see.
Just stumbled across your fantastic channel. Love the high standard of production. Wishing you, grumpy cameraman and all viewers a very Happy and Healthy 2024 😊
The warmth and charm Mr. Grumpy displays is truly inspiring. I'm sure there wasn't a dry eye watching, during the heartfelt moment when Mr. Grumpy mentioned the dog. Reminded me of Timmy calling Lassie. A true dog lover. Being somewhat a food critic myself I wasn't at all surprised at Mr. Grumpy's highly unusual yet daring choice of pizza. Equally inspiring are the absolutely gorgeous railroads you picked. Thank you for a great video and hope Mr. Grumpy has recovered from the injuries he sustained during the filming .
Please do not give him any ideas about his acting ability. It will go straight to his head and he will be even more unbearable. The party popper went nowhere near his eye... only his ego.
You just popped up on my feed, watched, liked and subscribed! Excellent video and layouts....👍🏻👌🏼👏🏻 Being a huge fan of old US railroads (Milwaukee Road), I've got a soft spot for the Big Four and earlier companies (LMS RULES! 🤘🏻).... Greetings from a Swede in Glasgow.... All the best for 2024! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Hi Dawn, hope you had a lovely Christmas and New year, fantastic videos, also liked the bloopers,(trust a dog to steal the show), hope Mr Grumpy Cameraman enjoyed his medicinal pizza, thanks for sharing, take care, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Great choice of layouts, especially moors view i also had to have that 1st out of my top 10 layouts and just managed to dig out a railway modeller magazine that featured it by chance, super layout, am working on a miniature version at the moment to run my n gauge stock on am sure it wont be anywere near as good but it did inspire me to have a go, happy new year, all the best. Tom
Thank you! Great minds think alike ;-) - it is a beautiful layout isn't it? And that's what it's all about - to create things we love and inspire and be inspired by others' work and creativity! Would love to see photos of your miniature layout when you're ready to share - I have a gallery on my website where I share other layouts.
Did see Gordon's Lane at the Great Electric Train Show in 2023 and was a stunning layout and did see Moor's View in Stafford the same year as well. but those layouts are brilliant. Also love the bloopers as well, Happy New Year.
British railways are growing on me, i love the terminology you use, here we call them switches, British call them points. Caboose here, there brake vans.
Hi MRQ, first time I’ve seen a video, I’ve clicked on Subcribe. Some great layouts. My favourite was the Rossiter Rise but only because I’m a huge London UndergrounD enthusiast. See again during 2024
What a great choice of your favourite layouts including Mr Grumpy's. But what makes it so much more interesting is how you present your videos, so very professional. The plus to this presentation is the inside story to each layout. Your narration brings it to life for those model makers who created these masterpieces. Well done team and Happy New Year to you both.
Great review of your favourite top 9 layouts, Dawn, and the grumpy camera choice man's wasn't bad either. In fact, I noticed you pinched the idea of having a dog on the layout 😂. Best wishes for 2024. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos....cheers James 🙂👍
I agree with you totally about your 1st choice: even my other half, who's usually indifferent to anything to do with model railways, was impressed by this layout. Maybe there's hope for her. Really good video, by the way!
It's a slippery slope! Moors View one day and then, pretty soon your other half will be taking up half the garage with their own layouts! Thanks for the comments.

Happy new year and a grumpy new year to Mr Grumpy. Thanks Dawn, recently subscribed to the channel because of your amazing Brief Encounter layout. Love the content of your channel. Cheers!
Some great choices there... Gordons Lane & Moors View were lovely, but I think Hazelcombe would be my pick of your bunch. Mr Grumpy's choice was also a nice pick, but his re-enactment of The Italian Job, was a tad lack-lustre by using an incorrect bus! You'll have to beat it into him, or fire another party popper, that its the attention to detail which matters, but funny none the less. Well Happy New year and I hope you get a chair in the near future, as according to my wise mother, you'll get a chill sitting on the floor! 😆 Plus always great to see bloopers, thanks for adding them in...
Excellent video and super nice choices. First time watching here and enjoyed it!... Thanks. Philip NYC / New Jersey Shore Area
Nice list, I used to live near Wickwar and it captures the area perfectly but I have to agree with your No.1 Moors View is just an astonishing bit of modelling, simply a beautiful and evocative scene
Yes, I think astonishing is absolutely the right word for it! Great to hear that Wickwar the model railway is a faithful a reproduction of the original location. Farnham & District MRC are exceptional when it comes to detail.
I the saw Gordon Lane, Ipswich to Weymouth and Tar works at Gravesend. The N gauge layouts in cases at Woolwich, where I met you and saw A Brief Encounter, I am in your video of the show talking to you.
Dawn you some great layouts and I agree about the last one, I could feel the cold, I also think it's, not that easy to achieve the effect, it also strikes me that most of us models summer layout as all the trees have leaves on them.
@@modelrailwayquest My view is that a model railway is really art in a very broad sense, people have different interests, some like building locos, others don't care about scenery, the fact that im not a brilliant artist doesn't mean I'm not an artist and so when you look at model railways you see a whole spectrum right up to the layouts simply look so real. As an old bloke railway photos were mainly black and white, so had a thought about a model railway and I think it would be a greater challenge than snow. What if someone built a model railway that was monochrome, the locos, the scenery everthing including scenery,, a different mesning to 50 shades of grey, Yes you can cheat and photograph it in monochrome., I think that would be a real artistic challenge .
well, funny you should say that Steven.... take a look at my other videos about my Brief Encounter fully monochrome model railway. It made its debut at the Woolwich show in December and its second outing this past weekend in Maidstone. It's booked into more shows this year - dates are on my website. And if you are in any of the areas, I'd love you to see it in real life!
@@modelrailwayquest Dawn I live in a land where real men eat Vegitmite for brekkie and snakes and spiders and sharks are predators. I remember the big freeze that started on boxing day 1962, even the sea froze and you could walk across the Thames like Jesus walking on water.
@@modelrailwayquest I just watched you monochrome layout, that is freaky, in a good way,. To get all the shades is no easy task, this is what I call serious ART. Over the years I have come to realise colour photography which we all wanted as a kid is not everything, when I look at old black and white photos it allows the viewer to indulge the imagination far more than a high fidelity colour photo, you could make skies and clouds dramatic by using red filters etc
My favourites from 2023 include the James Street layout which is best viewed IMO from above which was possible at GETS, and White Meadow Quarry. Hope to see you somewhere next year if you are at a show in the Milton Keynes area.
