I hate the fact that the Riddick franchise wasn’t commercially successful…but Fast and Furious was, and we live in a world with 9 of them, an animated tv show, and a theme park ride with a gift shop included.

You can blame that on Chronicles and how it was edited. If they stuck with the gritty, R-Rated Pitch Black atmosphere and split it into two movies about Necros and Crematoria (which really should've been called something else), we could have had a more successful franchise (that also would've been even better than it was, and I say that as a fan). Also, they should have kept Jack as Jack and kept the three main characters together, so as to keep us invested as they travel through this universe.
@@thoughtfuldevil6069 I agree but Hollywood’s gonna Hollywood. They like having their beautiful girl leads with one off movies to gauge interest to see if another movie would be viable. The production studios are always the main culprits in ruining the director’s vision, or the vision was just dogshit from the beginning.
Agreed. Now all we have is SJW garbage. The fast franchise is a complete embarrassment. Hollywood will eventually ruin everything.
This is Vin Diesel's best franchise. I want another movie and game
I'd love to see a new Riddick game, maybe one that focuses on day-to-day survival rather than just linear story progression. There could be a day and night cycle like in Dying Light. During the day, you'd be scrounging and crafting tools, making crazy weapons from monster bones and such. During the night, you'd be eluding and eliminating mercenaries while also fighting off whatever horrors come out in the dark.
"Furya" just got announced as being in production!
Such an underrated series and universe. SOO MUCH POTENTIAL in more movies, series animated or not, comics, books and especially video games.
We definitely need to learn more about the world
I really hope they make the fourth film tentatively called Furia, as Vin Diesel said. Apparently the end goal is to get Riddick back to his home planet to tie up the Necromancer storyline. Shame it hasn't happened yet.
At this point he is to old but an anime would be perfect
@@tjack708 he's a little old but there's technology to make him look young and he still a fairly atletic person. Just look what they do with Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy, and Vin Diesel's not even that old as him.

The moment the character, purifier walks into the blazing sun and eradicating himself. That is one of the most, and still, moving death to me. Motivations aside, the way he reacted to the heat and sun and collapsed was elegant and tragic considering he is the only other person of the same race that Riddick has seen so far.
Yes it was. I thought he should have worked with Riddick.
I thought he killed himself because he felt stranded on the planet and felt disgusted with what he had done as a necromonger and just wanted to die.
Chronicles of Riddick is unironically fucking awesome. I was sad that they didn't seem to continue the story with Riddick as the leader of that army
The Chronicles of Riddick video games are some of the most underrated games of all time.
I really wish Vin Diesel would help spearhead another video game in the series.
Think about it: open world space game, Action-RPG, running from mercenaries, breaking out of prisons, sci-fi horror and an incredible world that isn't fleshed out enough.
Going to different planets and forming alliances with various factions against the Necromongers would be interesting. Or you could solo it as a lone wolf like Riddick is and turn factions against each other to take out your enemies.
@@mish375 Exactly! The most wanted and dangerous man in the universe. The dialogue options alone to pit people against each other... There is so much potential here.
I got both games on disc for my 360 and honestly they hold up quite well these days. Its graphics are still decent and the gameplay is a solid mix of stealth and bloody murder.

This was such a good movie. My favorite Vin Diesel acted i.p. by a country mile. I really wish as much effort and money was put into this series as the FF franchise.

And its strange because if you look at the roles VD plays, they're so similar, from Babylon AD (not a great movie), a man apart, fast and furious. But somehow, Riddick almost feels like the true role he was meant to play, and boy does he ever play it well.
The Fast & Furious series has too many divas
Chronicles of Riddick always felt like a modern take on pulp Fantasy or space opera. The way he slumped back into the Necromunder throne, claiming almost accidentally, reminded me a lot of the Robert E Howard "King Conan" stories!
This was a really fun sequel to an awesome movie. I remember both very well but can't tell you much about the 3rd one.
Great film, can't wait for the 4th one, hopefully it comes out!
On another note I saw Alexa Davalos over the weekend here in NY, safe to say I had a fangirl moment, and Chronicles of Riddick was the first film I saw her in :)

This series never had a bad installment yet it just slipped into obscurity. Probably one of the most underrated series.
Love this franchise! So much more story to be explored… Imagine the potential for a limited Netflix series following the Furian/Necromonger storyline…!
Oh prophecies, if there is convoluted as Nostradamus'. You can make a prophecy fit any event in history.
I liked him A LOT in Boiler Room. His character was just a cool dude, good guy, who wanted his boys to succeed. At the end of the movie, just like Seth did, I would've WARNED him and told him to get out.
I won't lie, I liked the 3 Riddick movies. They're a little piece of what movies have lost. Unashamed action.
And the lore is really interesting. Wish we got another Riddick game.

A strong leading actor, good supporting cast, interesting storyline, and plenty of action. Vin Diesel always brings a strong presence. I liked him when he was also singing in the choir.

I remember seeing the Chronicles of Riddick trailer when I went to see Dawn of the dead with friends when I was young. Came on after the Kill Bill vol. 2 trailer. Lol but I didn't see the movies until I played Riddick: Escape from Butcher bay after my friend had picked it out to rent and I choose Area 51. Both games were great, but man I got lost while playing Butcher Bay which then led me to the movies. Riddick has been one of my favorites ever since then! I'm glad my friend recommended the game. Opened up a whole universe Lol

It's one of those films that has its quirks but the universe is so interesting that it makes the movie great

Vin’s love for the character is infectious and I’m always happy to support director’s getting their cut released.
This works is like Warhammer 40K mixed with King Arthur.
This series really is a wonderful insight into Vin Diesel as a person. He's this big, burly, action hero jock sorta dude but his actual interests lie in DnD, comic books and cheesy classic sci fi. Keeping this thing going out of his own pocket is probably one of the things that have kept him sane and creatively energized after being more than a little typecast everywhere else.

God, I love the Riddick series. I wasn't particularly thrilled with the political intrigue of the 2nd, but it otherwise told a decent story. I loved the 3rd's return to restraint. Focusing on Riddick without going deep enough to completely demystify him.

One of the most interesting and, in my opinion, original film series I’ve ever watched. It still baffles me how essentially a throwaway convo with Riddick and Imam started the whole series

My favorite movie of all time. By far Vin Diesel best movie I've ever seen. His acting is top tier and unmatched in the Riddick series. Too bad Vin Diesel is focusing more on Fast & Furious series instead of this cuz Riddick series has so much potential to be like Star Wars & MCU level.

What a magistral movie, and most arguably one of the best stories of the Riddick Saga so far.
This movie is why I had the hugest crushes on Vin Diesel and Karl Urban in middle and high school. I have watched all of them too many times, animated too.

The game Escape from Butcher Bay, and the first movie, Pitch Black, will always be my most favorite media with the character Riddick.

Can’t wait for Furyia. Script is done and he has the green light but has to finish FnF first. It will be the final. I can’t believe he was supposed to die in Pitch Black, but the test audience hated it because they liked him so much so they changed the ending.
Another FNF! Those things have been running on empty for a decade.
It’s incredibly irritating that mindless garbage like FnF is more popular than the Riddick franchise

All the Riddick movies are a multigenerational delight.
Lord & Lady Vakko (Karl Urban & Thandie Newton), their roles and story was very undertold here. Aside from Diesel, they really added a very spectacular element to this film.
We deserve to see Riddick return home to Furya.

I think its insanely smart to get the movie to be rated pg-13 and to release a directors cut with all the good parts in it, it gets the movie to as many people as possible while still being true to the original r rated film. Every gets to have their cake and eat it too

The most recent Riddick movie is by far one of my favorite movies and has been one of those I was able to rewatch over and over during lockdowns. I'm super excited for a new entry to the series.
Another really good and underrated VD film was The Last Witch Hunter, which would be a great movie to analyse on the channel.
I dont know why but I have always LOVED the Necro’s invasion on Helios. They need to finish this series!
I do hope they complete the series though, even if it's not a grand end, it's still got enough star power to make money and an interesting enough setting to be worth finishing.

I just rewatched Riddick last night and wanted to learn more about his story. I’ve already seen TCoR and Pitch Black multiple times in the past and wondered if he’d make another one. It’s a whole universe like MCU with so much more to the story than just Riddick himself. I read the wikifandom of the regimes and had no idea how big the story actually was. Hope we get another 1-3 more movies. Shits too good

Makes sense why this movie was always on the TV. And being that this was my first movie from a series of other content i enjoyed it and loves it such an awesome action movie and awesome cast line up too. I would watch it like 4 times seeing things i missed or dialogue that deeper meaning.
