A few things you should know. My rifle barrel is .4520" confirmed with pin gauges. If you get an off the shelf bullet that is that size or smaller it will slide off the powder creating a dangerous situation. Another thing is the Dead-On mounts fit this rifle. If you're using what looks like a 40mm lens you can get their lowest mount. They have mid and high mounts for larger lenses. The Dead-On mount means less screws and parts holding your scope to the rifle giving you the most secure mount available. My rifle shoot the Lee 459-500-3R bullets very well sized to .4540". If you want the CVA brake there aren't any available anywhere, but Anarchy Outdoors sells one.
Great! Thank you! I already have the brake on it. We’re looking forward to shooting it.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! Makes me want to get back into muzzle loading guns!
Thank you! I’m super excited to shoot this one!
Thanks for the review, woo,,wee love that BPR
Thanks for watching!
That really looks good. That's definitely one to put on my list to purchase for 2022 Deer Season. Awesome video and looking good as always.
We’ll let you know how it shoots! Thanks for watching!
@@ReviewThisThing I sure will, might need to invite you and your husband to Alabama this fall or during spring for a Turkey hunt. That would be a cool video.

Great looking muzzleloader! I took my first muzzy deer with my CVA wolf last year I think this is my next upgrade, I'm hooked!
It sure is fun! Have you seen the Crossfire? We hope to get a hold of one of those, too.
Low Pressure 50 Caliber Smokeless Loads in a 209 Factory Muzzleloader, 2 DVD set | eBay
These 2 DVDs contain a demonstration of using Low Pressure Smokeless Loads in a 50 caliber factory muzzleloader.
Lucky you guys get to have scopes! Open sights only here in Washington State for elk! Rut is going later and later but muzzleloaders are absolutely NUTS now a days
It is crazy what these can do! It’s a bit funny because every deer I’ve ever shot with a muzzleloader has been within about 30-40 yards, but having never had to shoot without one, I still need it! Thanks for watching and good luck!
I love the CVA Muzzleloaders. I got a Accura V2 PR 50cal and it shoots great. I know your like yours too. Hard to beat. Looking forward to how it shoots.
What do you find your max range is for those?
@@striderwolf687 I'm comfortable out to 200 yds with mine. Where I hunt usually 100 yds is a long shot most are 60 yds or so but they will shoot out there, especially the newer ones.
@@1Whitetail wow! Cool! I’ve only shot the older style of flint and cap lock. Real old ones. Modern ones look well made and accurate.
Awesome! We’re really excited to shoot them!
@@striderwolf687 They are and will shoot accurate. I'll use it during regular gun season about half the time. They won't let you down.
Cool! I'll wait for the accuracy tests for sure!
We’re excited to test it out!
Love my CVA.
Which one do you have?
@@ReviewThisThing MRX Accura
Nice! I can’t wait to shoot it!
@@ReviewThisThing its a tack driver. Just like all the cva muzzleloader are. Biggest thing is like it cool down between shots
Ahhh. Thank you!
Great review! In your state, do you get to go early hunting or get more tags with a muzzle loader?
There is a week or two between bow season and rifle season for muzzleloader hunting. And thank you!
@@ReviewThisThing would love to see you two do some hunt prep and hunt vids!
We have one video up from last year, but it didn’t get a lot of traction. ruclips.net/video/biQUDnYXwqI/видео.html
Looks like a great gun, I use a Thompson Center Encore in .50 caliber. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done. Thanks for the video, those bullets that you showed at the end look interesting, I look forward to your opinion. Thanks guys, be well.
Thanks so much! I’ve heard great things about the ELR’s. We shall see.
Are these predrilled to mount iron sights? I like this color combo, but can’t find this particular model with sights already on it. Just wondering if it had the holes for an option to mount them.
So mine came with a pic rail attached. But a Williams peep sight will fit without the rail.
I bought the LRX 50 and the barrel is super tight, 0.498. It is a must to clean between each shot!! I’m still trying to find a good Bullet for elk with this gun.
Have you tried the ELR’s?
I’m order the new 270gr ELR’s, but according to CVA / PowerBelt the ELR’s were designed for the Paramount w/ 1:24 or faster twist rate and a MZ velocity of 2500 or greater. I’m going to try the lighter version and see how they group and expand in milk jug’s.
I’m also going to try 250gr Barnes TEZ, 300gr Thor .500”, and 300gr. Parker Ballistic Extreme’s.
Awesome. Let me know what you find out!
Is a back ground check required for this particular rifle? Does it cost extra to fill out background check?
I’m not sure about that. I’m pretty sure you can order them and have them sent to your house.
I live in Iowa and the minimum requirement for muzzleloaders is 44 caliber or larger.
Great! Thank you.
do you have a link on where you got that muzzle brake?
I bought it from the CVA website, but now I can't seem to find it.
I have a cva optima before the v2 and the receiver is plastic. Does the accura use plastic does the new v2?
Sorry for the delay. I wanted to check on it. I’m pretty sure the MR-X is metal.
I'm just curious what scope rings are they?
They are very likely these. amzn.to/4dsEo9g
What kinda hunting range can you get with this set up
We haven’t shot it past 100, but people say definitely 200, maybe 300.
I dont have one, but i want one!
I’ll let you k ow how it goes!
@@ReviewThisThing Ya, me sittin over here bein jelous is how its gonna go😁 Though i can say that rifle is in good hands and will be cared for for many years. You and your husband will be harvsting many deer with it.
Hahaha. We’ll definitely take good care of it!!! I sure hope we get a lot of deer!
Nice muzzle loader with the cheek adjustable think they missed the mark on adjustable length of pull should have been added……
I’m with you there!!!
What I would like to know is how accurate is is at 100 yards with a 3+ shot pattern? I could care less about how nice it may look, I am interested in nail drivers. If it can't shoot then I'm not interested
We have taken it out to the range since this video. We have friends that have gotten .75” groups, but we’ve been around 1.25-1.75” at 100.
I shoot a lot of competition I have probably 12 muzzleloaders Flint locks percussion Lyman and tc kimbler 36 for flint knight rifles choose your Wednesday it will be here at Mrx 45 very excited I know everyone is different cuz I shoot the last 40 years I got 209 black powder weighed 84 that's what I'm going to start with I also got select powder I wish they had white hots in 45 but got triple 7 and select powder and 209 black powder 285 ELR to start that should tell me what it likes
That’s a lot of experience! Come back and tell us what you think!
Where can I get a 50 cal muzzle brake
I got mine directly from the CVA website, but I haven’t seen them available lately.
Hard to find. Hoping they do a big run of them soon.
👍🏻👍🏻
Well how’s it holding up a year later ?
We still haven’t killed anything with it yet 🤦🏼♀️
is it drilled and tapped for iron/open sights?
I’m out of town right now, but I’ll check when I get back. I didn’t want to not reply!
Sorry for the delay! It is!
@@ReviewThisThing Awesome! Thank you!
You got it!
Is that the Realtree Rockslide pattern?
It is.
I have owned several 45 ML in the past and the bore diameter was 450, with groove being 457/458.
So I stupidly bought a bunch of various brands and weights of 450/452 bullets and they slide down the barrel of my MR-X without a ramrod. Bought 4 packages of ELRs and there is very little barrel tension, even on the belt (and they measure 450 so they don't even ride the bore, they are loose)
Only some cast. 458 had enough tension to stay in place when the rifle is muzzle down and the foreend is bumped with a palm (then checked with a marked ramrod) so this rifle is so overbore its going to have questionable accuracy.
I've got a bunch of tan MMP Sabots coming and have a mold to cast some . 400 caliber, 265gr smooth side bullets so we'll see how those do.
Unfortunately, I bought the rifle on sale and it's not returnable, I may contact CVA to see what they say about the oversize barrel.
After you talk to them, come back and let us know what they say. We haven’t had any trouble with the ELR’s moving around so far. I’m sure they would make it right.
@@ReviewThisThing I slugged the barrel (twice, pulled the breech plug and pushed the slug from rear to muzzle) and the groove diameter is 0.462 and the bore / land diameter is 0.456. The ELR's mike at 450 so that's certainly a problem.
I called BPI OUTDOORS (ie: CVA) and they are having me ship the rifle to them for inspection. I'm including one of the slugs that they can see for themselves. We'll see what they do about it.
Let us know!
Hi I’m new to muzzleloading was Thanking about Getting a Mrx or lrx can you shot pyrodex pellets in these Muzzleloaders
Welcome! You’re going to love it. You can use Pyrodex pellets with these, but you’ll need to make sure you have the correct breech plug. I believe these come standard with a BH 209 breech plug. Just switch it out to a regular one first. AND, definitely reach out to CVA customer service if you have any concerns. They are top notch!
@@ReviewThisThing what’s the best 209 Primers for those muzzleloaders
They basically say any of them will work but if you’re using Blackhorn, better not to use the muzzleloader ones. If Pyrodex, the muzzleloader ones should work.
@@kevindills7936 For Triple 7 or Pyrodex I like the Winchester best. There's a newer model Federal 209 that would be worth trying.
The LRX .50 cal and the MRX .50 cal come with both the blackhorn 209 breech plug and the standard 209 breech plug which is handy if you run out Blackhorn powder and can’t find any. Unfortunately the .45 you only get the blackhorn breech plug.
Put a can on it . Makes it so much quieter and it's fully legal because it's not considered a firearm you don't have to register the can
Interesting idea!
Shame they discontinued the muzzlebrakes
Did they?!? Or are they just out of stock?
DIY silencer for AR 15
😊
You didn't tell me how much it was.
You can get it right now on Muzzle-loaders.com for $569. Regularly $640.
BPI sold me the .45 accura V2 and the V2 LR both with a 1:28 twist then stopped production of the .45 cal power belt bullets except for the ELRs in 45 cal which require a 1:24 or faster twist. A very crappy way to treat their customers. I contacted Thor bullets they are gonna bail us out but it will be late 2023 or early 2024 before the R&D is completed. I bought the B-14 several years ago and I will never buy from BPI again!
