This kind of product works out because much of the same power conversion circuitry that's necessary to make a good charger is also useful in creating a good AA power bank. What sucks is the power banks that just connect the batteries in series and hope for the best. With this, having the individual cell control already lets this thing divide the current between the cells (probably within reason so that it doesn't have to draw too much from a given cell) to get more out of the cells that would have had juice left when a series string would have lost the weakest cell and the thing quits.
@@big0bad0bradAA battery only 1.2V, convert to 4.8V left 1/4 Power, this power bank output only 5V 1a. Not Worth buying, smartphone with removable battery coming soon bef 2027.
Just bought this charger..the power bank function is exactly what i was looking for, but the charging time itself (for AA batteries with more than 2000 mAh) is way too long! And it is quite expensive..
Its been discontinued :( I guess not many people bought it. I have not seen a decent quality alternative, you do get no name brands but I'd stay away from them.
Can it also use 4 AA Energizer Recharge Batteries 2000mah for Power Bank too? I doubt that Panasonic AA Battery Power Banks is also a fast charger when charging your Phone.
No - it needs to see 4 individual cells and may not like 2V/cell. This doesn't place the batteries in series so you can't regulate down and feed 2 of the pins like you might be able to on some things.
@Tech Guy Charlie Do you know the device as you present, but for 18650 cells? I found Tomo products, but they look cheap and they slowly discharge the cells during storage (3mA averaged continuous consumption). The Ledlenser Flex 7 looks decent.
Great and test and review, thank you very much :) In terms of efficiency, aren't we down to 50%? If that's the case, then the purpose of this device is emergency. I wonder what the most optimal "power-to-whatever" budget battery solution is.
On point, the main purpose of this is to charge AA and AAA batteries through USB, the power bank functionality is just a fancy addon which is only useful in emergency when you don't have access to power, even small li-ion battery power bank would be 100 times better than this.
@@TechGuyCharlie Thanks for taking the time to respond. In terms of Power Banks, wouldn't it be more cost effective to straight up buy a UPS? Or UPS and hooking it up with a "car battery" (12v 100Ah)? Again, thinking of emergencies
Yup, definitely. We actually have a full sinewave ups with 2x 200ah tubular batteries for the entire house, way more cost effective for places where you have frequent power cuts, it will run your PC, tv, fan, lights, charge phone without breaking a sweat.
I would like to order one of these but I have a question, can I use any phone charger? I mean it doesn´t matter if its a quick charger with high current output?
Yup! you can use any phone charger, but make sure it is capable of supplying at least 2amps, any lower and it will take a long time to recharge the batteries.
You may not need to replace that battery. The charger does not want to charge it because its voltage is too low. When you have this problem use a classic charger without charging detection and leave it for the specified time to charge.
Thanks, dude, I bought these on Aliexpress, here is a dedicated review, the link should be in the videos description. ruclips.net/video/tpXycf6841k/видео.html
nice informative video... can we use these AA rechargeable batteries for 1.5v required devices like blood pressure monitor? (mostly all rechargeable AA batteries are 1.2v so asking)
@@TechGuyCharlie Thanks for your reply... in your video 4 AA batteries giving output of 4.74v in total but the Blood Pressure monitor required is 6v for 4 batteries... is that 4.74v is enough for 6v required device bro? even if it supports that may harm battery life cycle?? i'm not a tech guy need some help to buy a rechargeable AA batteries.
@@spiderman-gx9oe Battery voltage labelling is nominal and it goes down as they are used. "1.5V" alkaline batteries are usable well below 1.0V by most well designed electronics so "1.2V" rechargeable batteries will cause no problems.
Thanks!! I want to get some AAA batteries, but there are so many kinds, it’s hard to choose. Would you recommend these for low energy draining devices?(keyboards, mouses, small reading lights, tv remotes, clocks, small trimmers, etc) Also, is the power bank function truly safe for an iPhone(or any phone batterie)? I don’t know much about power banks/technology(that’s why your reviews are so useful👍), but I have noticed some say not any power device is save for charging our phones.
Ignore what people say, they have no clue. Coming to batteries, go with the white Eneloops, they are really good will last a really long time. BTW, if you want a good power bank, go with a proper one with Lithium batteries, because these Ni-Mh batteries don't hold that much charge, currently I am using this: ruclips.net/video/f6Yr-jQJRu8/видео.html
I've been using Panasonic CC55 charger for years and now ordered a black CC87, awesome charger. Thanks for in-depth review.
Thank you, Mehdi 😊 glad the video was helpful.
CC87 how long take for charging 4 eneloop pro?
@@alexmusic2387 6 hours for 4 eneloop pros & 4.5 hours for 4 eneloops(white ones).
This is why I have subscribed to Charlie’s channel - unique stuff always
Thank you 😊 I will try and make more of these videos.
The first I've seen a powerbank able to use alkaline batteries, useful thanks for the review.
Same, I've seen some Chinese ones, but never from a reputable brand, so when I saw this is from Panasonic, had to grab it and do a review. 😊

Is this charger available in 2024 ? I guess it's discontinued...so is there similar alternative available in market ?

I just received one from Amazon today…$23 USD.
1. Shall we use in it with usb ported batteries to get charged ?
2. Can we use usb ported batteries in this powerbank for mobile?
Great video. Very informative. Very versatile device.
Do we have to use all 4 batteries together for using it as a Power bank

Yeh when it comes to anything so advanced in technology nothing beats Japan❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
True bro, very true.
Do you know if there's a AA/AAA battery charger that you can charge using a battery bank?
Does this work for Panasonic batteries for landline phones
Great vid, very in depth

Based on my math with those batteries you should get about 2080 mah of usable power which isn't too bad especially in an emergency
The Alkaline ones or the black Eneloop?

Just use this one.
Include aaapter for this model
