      Hi! Thank you for the tips! I have a question on audio delay and hope you can provide some ideas: If I have 1 video source from a camera, and 1 video source from a PC, and 1 audio source from the sound desk which carries the MICs and PC Sound....how should I handle the audio delays if the MICs and PC (if PC playing a video) have different delays but going through the 1 sound desk? Oh, and they need to feed to loudspeakers for live audience AND live streaming.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад

      @@luketoh1 You wouldn't be able to handle different delays unless you split the audio sources out. Right now with an ATEM you can add delay to Mic Input 1 and 2. Beyond that you'd need a specialized audio mixer that can delay each input separately. Theoretically there should not be delay coming from the audio out of the PC. So typically what I'll do is put my microphones through one mixer that goes into mic input 1 and add a slight delay in the software control of about 4 frames. Then I'll bring in the PC playing a video and audio over the HDMI plugged into the input of the atem with no delay added.

    • @luketoh1
      @luketoh1 2 года назад

      @@zephanmoses thanks for the ideas. But because we are playing it to a live audience as well as live streaming, the audio comes through from the mics (via soundboard) and from PC (also via soundboard). Do you think if Macros can be used for different delays depending on what is being used at the time could be done?

    • @luketoh1
      @luketoh1 2 года назад

      @@zephanmoses with regards to PC and pc audio via HDMI, how would I allow the live audience to hear that audio?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад

      @@luketoh1 Probably not. You're going to need a more advanced sound mixer. That's when we bring in an audio company to handle that since things need to be routed in the room and separately to the livestream. There's a certain point where you have to bring in a specialist and this would be a good case for that.

    Thanks for the tip about the YUV color space. We had an issue where certain computers and cameras were appearing as magenta-green in the stream, and this happened when they were plugged in Mini Pro Extreme ports 1 and 2 only. Ports 3-8 were always fine for any source.
    We sync sounds by using an analog mixer for all of our sound work: wireless mics, wired mics, sound recorders etc. We then take the stereo mix from the mixer to the Atem Mini Pro's mic1 input (we use just a 30cm short unbalanced double 6,3mm to single 3,5mm) and the picture and the sound always go hand-in-hand 1:1 to the stream. Not sure if any sound engineer recommends it, but we have not encountered any issues so far.

    For your cable length issues - have you any experience with the CAT5 extenders for HDMI? They are a converter box that lets you do 100 foot runs with CAT5/6 (ethernet) cables. About $40 for a pair of boxes that take HDMI in on one side, push the CAT5 to the other box where it goes back to HDMI. Trying to solve the 75-100 foot camera placement issue.

    My two mini works great and I have not noticed any ways to make any mistake what so ever. All you need for looong hdmi cables is a cable that actually works up to 10 meters if it does not take it back to the store and get one that does work. You can hook up 5 of them to the atem mini original and that should pretty much cover everything you ever would need. Also my minis still run on the original firmware and I get no synch problems with audio at all. So I think you must do something wrong. I use three computers for my streams. In two of them I also have the Intensity pro capture cards and one streams via USB and I get no issues at all. On top of that I can hook up my backup mini and my old atem tvs and my multichannel Behringer mixer and my multichannel soundcard and preamps. I can also use my recording software Logic as a mixer, mediastation or just record music on air or all at the same time. On top of that on the audioside of things I can use Logic and its multichannel soundcard that is hooked up to the fourth computer with the atem tvs.
    I use both OBS and Flash Media Live Encoder and if I want also CamTwist.

    I'm running into the problem of experiencing lag during recording through OBS (haven't tried streaming yet), and I can't figure out why.
    Setup: 3 cameras > hdmi to Atem Mini Pro
    For two of the cameras I use a micro hdmi to a full size hdmi. The third camera has a full size hdmi. I'm using OBS to record. It doesn't always lag, only occasionally, and only one or two cameras will lag in the recording, rarely all three. So usually I cut to the camera that doesn't lag, but I can't always do that. It's not always the same cameras that lags, which makes me think that the problem is with the OBS.
    When I monitor the multiview output it seems fine, but not in the recording. Maybe OBS is the issue? Have you ran into this issue?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад +2

      Regarding your first problem, try sending the video into inputs 2-4. Input 1 behaves differently because of YUV color space. Regarding your second problem, you have to make sure you are using a compatible monitor. Computer monitors have a limited framerate and color space that they are compatible with. You can go into the atem software control and change the framerate that your atem is outputting to 24, 30 or 60fps to see which framerates are compatible. Computer monitors are typically not good to use - I would get a production monitor.

    Maybe sone can set me in the right direction.. When I have a solid slide when streaming, the bit rate goes down on the ATEM and RUclips shows an error because the bit rate is down. I can't find anything in the ATEM software that allows for a constant upload rate/speed. am I missing something?

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад

      The ATEM uses a variable bitrate so it will automatically send less information to save bandwidth when you are on a static image. Any encoder that has a variable bitrate will do that. You can't change how the built in encoder operates outside of the built in settings which we made a video about here: ruclips.net/video/_W827CBJaq0/видео.html
      From my experience, RUclips gets cranky about these things but it doesn't end the stream so long as you don't have auto stop enabled. It shouldn't be a big deal. I usually just ignore the warning. However if it were an issue you might want to look at OBS and do software encoding since you can control the bitrate better and fine tune it. You could also look at alternative hardware based encoders that keep a constant bitrate.
      But that error is happening because the encoder is doing its job properly.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад +1

      Typically if you are getting a magenta or green screen you have a color space mismatch. Most people get this issue if they plug the atem into a computer monitor rather than a video production monitor. It can also happen on the rare occasion that you have a bad cable but it is more than likely a color space issue. Change out your monitor to a TV or a video production monitor and you shouldn't have that problem anymore.

    My atem mini output doesnt work, what is the possible solution

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  2 года назад

      It could be anything from a bad cable to you are using a computer monitor instead of a production monitor or TV that is compatible with the framerate you set in the software control.
      Step 1: Change to a different brand and length HDMI cable
      Step 2: Go into the software control application and change the output framerate to 24, 30 or 60 frames to see if one is compatible with your monitor.
      Step 3: Use a different monitor that is made for production (and not just a TV or computer monitor). Make sure the monitor is compatible with 1080p in all framerates from 24 to 30 and 60.
      If those don't work you may have a damaged or faulty HDMI port and will need to contact Blackmagic for replacement.

    Hello, I've been having an issue with audio dropping in OBS from the Atem Mini Pro ISO. Once I put in the streamkey and go live on Facebook the audio drops out and I have to go in mic properties and uncheck Use Custom Audio Device then recheck it to get the atem audio to turn back on. Not sure if this is an issue with the Atem or OBS but just thought I'd ask in case you know a solution because it just recently started doing this a few months ago. Thanks for any help you can provide.

      Sounds like an issue with OBS I would either make sure OBS is up to date or potentially downgrade to a previous version. Since you mentioned you had to go into OBS settings to fix it, doesn't sound like an ATEM hardware issue.

      The atem is not compatible with usb cameras. Usb-c to hdmi cables don’t function that way. They are only made for outputting a video feed from a computer’s USB port over HDMI. You would need a UVC to HDMI converter and even still you will have a lot of lag: amzn.to/3v1DYBO

Is there a setting I'm missing to get rid of what's on my Sony's LCD screen in the ATEM? I try to do it on my Sony Camera but I can't get rid of everything STB will always remain or battery. Here's questions some of have: 1) When streaming from ATEM Mini Pro ISO to RUclips, my image looks reversed.....but when I play back the (saved) livestream, it looks fine (normal; not "backwards"). Words on paper read backwards during recording but look normal on RUclips playback. 2) ATEM software audio show I'm getting sound but hear nothing during (or on playback) of livestream. Headphones connected to laptop are set up correctly; just can't hear myself.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  3 года назад

      Hi Tony,
      The video being flipped or reversed is something that is only being seen by you, it's not being seen by your audience. This is most likely happening when you are using the ATEM Mini Pro ISO as a webcam and not when you are using the built in encoder to send an RTMP feed to RUclips if I had to take a guess. This is something that you'll see happen on Zoom as well (although Zoom has a check box to flip the image in the settings). This is something that many webcams do so you don't get confused when pointing one direction or another while watching yourself. Think about it this way, if you have a webcam pointed at you and you raise your left arm, from the camera's perspective it's actually your right arm. This flip "feature" happens to prevent you from getting confused. If you start using the ATEM's built in encoder this shouldn't happen anymore.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  3 года назад

      To answer the second part of your question, there's a lot of things that could be going on here and it most likely has to do with how you are set up. We typically recommend having an HDMI monitor that takes the output from the Atem's HDMI port and then monitoring sound through that. You'll also want to connect a separate laptop or device to the stream to confirm that audio is going through.
      If you're seeing sound levels moving within the ATEM software you'll want to make sure that microphone or camera input is set to ON. You'll still see levels moving even if the sound is set to OFF. The audio will not go out over the livestream unless it's turned on.
      After all of this if you still find that you're having trouble, we've developed a full A-Z course on Livestreaming called "Six Figure Livestreamer" and you can get access to it here: www.contentcreator.com/6-figure-live-streamer

    3:45 - "The ATEM does not work with 4K signals."
    Well, that explains why the 4K PTZ I set up today wasn't coming in over HDMI (even though it was showing up on the PTZ controller screen).
    Also I'm pretty sure the ATEM does work with 4k signals cause I have run a DSLR at 4k 25fps and it sent with no issues to the ATEM.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  15 дней назад

      Per both the manual and the tech specs - All ATEM Minis and Extremes max out at 1080p at 60 frames. They do not receive a 4K signal and certainly would not receive a 4K 25fps signal but rather the camera is probably outputting at only 1080p. Depending on the camera model you have, it will automatically down-scale the output resolution to 1080p when it notices that it's connected to an ATEM.

    • @KLRCAT
      @KLRCAT 15 дней назад

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  8 месяцев назад

      If it’s the same result from two different softwares it sounds like it’s a computer hardware issue. What are your computer specs? What is your processor speed? Graphics card? Ram? Available Hard drive space? What bitrates are you recording at? Where is it choppy? On the platform you stream to? In a recording?
      My first suspect would be the hard drive or processing power. If you are using an integrated graphics card and not a dedicated graphics card, that would explain poor performance.
