This is a great video and one of the best ways to explain lower thirds, keying and luma keys. I have seen so many videos to see how people explain it and they gloss over the important facts that you guys just gave, thank you.
I have been looking at purchasing a Atem mini pro for our church service to upgrade our streaming. I have been looking all over RUclips for information on how to take already created PowerPoint slides and integrate them with AMP. You are the first group that has explained it fully...THANK YOU!
Thank you for this we are about to upgrade our visual side at church after doing our audio at the start of the pandemic and this explains the atem mini for us you guys are awesome
Hi, I just started using Atem, for our church and I'm kind of the Production person. I will like to know if you could explain the way you have these connections done in the back of Athem including USB ports and HDMI thxs for this video it really helps.
So this means that you don't necessarily have to have the lyrics set as 'Lower Third' from in pro presenter, you can legit modify in Atem software while keeping the lyrics centered from PP. Makes it easier if you'd want to have lyrics screens in the sanctuary same as what you'd send to the atem. Love this video
Excellent video. Clear and concise instructions from both presenters. My church is using 4 cameras with the ATEM Mini Pro. Any other options (other than buying another switcher) for input for lower 1/3 graphics? Thank you.
Thanks for the info on fill and key. ProPresenter, and EasyWorship are alike in some way. We currently have Easy Worship, and I'm looking to do a setup with ATEM Mini Pro ISO. I want to have 3-PTZ cameras feeding input 1-3, and then 1-HDMI Input (No. 4) from the Computer. I want to do both Fill and Key on that input. Could I use a StreamDeck and create macro buttons that would switch that input back and forth between Fill and Key? I want to do Lower-Thirds over the video LiveStream, and then Switch to Full Screen for Announcements, and Videos we may play.
Hi, thanks for the great video, how would you do slides and lower thirds separately? So church notices etc and lyrics can be shown. We have a propresenter pc, atem, live stream pc and stream deck controller. Thanks
We are looking for a way to connect ProPresenter to our Black Magic "camera" inputs, so that we can show the entire slide we are showing on ProPresenter to our live stream. However we have the blackmagic hooked up (USB) to a different computer than we use proPresenter on...
How do you put the lyrics on the lower third from a Mac mini using Propresenter to show on our livestream that is broadcasting on a MacBook Pro. Can the Mac or IP address be utilized from onboard or do we require another interface?
Thanks for the simple explanation. The luma works as described on my Extreme, but as soon as I use the "K1lum" button on my "select bus" my palette settings revert to a chroma setting with a different camera (as if that's it default). Seems weird to me. Are the settings you describe supposed to hold? And can it it executed on the switcher without using the software? I'm just getting this machine set up. It's all new to me.
Weird I am doing what you are.... nothing happens when I click on-air button in the ATEM software control. I mean 'nothing' happens. I have a simple black slide with white text in propresenter. I am using camera4 as my input for propresenter, camera1 as my video camera input. Any suggestions? I can't seem to get even the most basic example to work, really stumped.
This video is very helpful. Are there other videos with this same style of tutorial? I’m still looking for a video that will teach me how to split the livestream view, sermon graphic (not a lower 3rd) on one side and the live video of pastor on opposite side of the graphic.
Depending on the switcher model, you can do this a couple different ways. With an ATEM Mini, you can use the DVE. I believe the Pic in pic effect uses the DVE to accomplish this. Hope thats helpful. The bigger switchers with a full "ME" or say "super source" means they do this a more proper and flexible way. Benefits of buy a nicer switcher model is super source options!
The video is helpful, but here is my problem. We are currently using a iMac with two outputs. One goes to the stage display and one is split and goes to the screens and the other to the ATEM Mini Pro. If I use your method will it interfere with my screen projection or because it generated in the Atem will it still function. The other question is graphics. I don't use a black background with white text. How will this affect the lower third on the Atem?
you can use the built in media pool, add the static image for the background and and then strategically overlay the graphics from your character generator on top of it. This is a popular solution
Is there a reason you guys use USK and not DSK, as USK drops with transition traditionally? Is it the option to Chroma Key, and then have you set the ATEM not to drop the key on transition?
Hey guys... I hope you are both doing well! Thank you so so much for sharing everything with us!! My question isn't related to the video but I wanted to know how do you guys do your color grading at Bethel? The colours are beautiful but not over saturated. We are filming with Blakcmagics (4K and 6K) and streaming through OBS but our final colour doesn't look as good as I know it could. If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so so much! Blessings :)
Spend more time getting lighting right! We typically use teh built in Luts. Havent made custom ones until recently, but even then, it was just to re-calibrate our faded sensors.
We are using PowerPoint for white on black lyrics both on screen in our sanctuary and for the ATEM feed. On the ATEM we were simply using a flying key just to have a black box with white lyrics picture in picture. We'd like to switch to using the simple Luma method to put just the white lyrics in the lower third. However, when we tried it some colors from the main picture behind seem to bleed through into our white lyrics. The letters don't seem to be quite opaque. Any help on how to correct that? Is the problem with using PowerPoint? Thanks.
I think it's a lot easier to run the video through OBS, then do a full preview out to the ATEM HDMI. At that point, you can do simple stuff like powerpoint and whatever, with no chroma nonsense.
you can create that same graphic in say photoshop and export as an png and use the DSK (TIE and or on Air) and use ur key function for something more broader than a graphic
We are just using a chroma key method, this process works with ProPresenter, Keynote, Powerpoint or any character generator. You just have to "key out" the color and your text will overlay. If its not working, its likely you dont have the Keyer programmed correctly.
So the ProPresenter out with the chroma green on it is what the congregation sees as well? Or can you make independent modifications per display out in ProPresenter? Or are you running camera feeds to the congregation projectors? Lol sorry for so many questions.
PP7 supports multiple outputs, you can indeed put the color on just one of the outputs so you can keep your projectors black or whatever you need. does that help?
when I have picture and picture on and I try to chenge cameras with any of the buttons on the device it turns picture picture off and back on thats it... but if I change cameras in the atem software it works fine...
@@BethelProduction One more question......Am I assuming correctly that the computer with the lyrics plugged in to camera 2 in the Luma section is only controlling the livestream and there would need to be a separate computer running the lyrics with backgrounds for the auditorium?
New user to Propresenter 7. I have a couple of questions that perhaps y’all can help me with. 1. Do I need to have my ATEM Mini as a video input source in PP7 to overlay lyrics? 2. I have a lower third look set up PP7. Can I output that look to my livestream? If so, then 3. How do I do so from my ATEM Mini to our Resi Ray Encoder?
If you are using PP7's software RESI encoder, you can overlay graphics in PP7 and push to stream from PP7. If you are wanting the ATEM to encode for you, then you would need to use the one of your inputs to overlay graphics from PP7 as a video source. does that makes sense?
@@BethelProduction makes perfect sense. Since our post, we’ve developed a look on ProPresenter 7 which outputs to our Ray encoder along with the video. Many thanks for the response!
Is there a way to display both lyrics (using luma key) and graphics (using chroma key) on the same recording, using the same PP file? If we're transitioning from worship to announcements, it seems like we'd also have to change the keying, which is cumbersome and prone to errors when shooting live.
So at our church we have PP7 on an iMac that displays lyrics in the sanctuary. I tried going from that same iMac to the ATEM mini in an open hdmi port of the mini and when I did, the iMac display only showed about three huge letters and the lyrics disappeared from the sanctuary display until I disconnected the ATEM mini. I just went from the back of the iMac with an adapter to HDMI into the open port of the mini. So now I’m lost again!
sounds like something with your graphics card or computer. Display drivers can drive you crazy sometimes. Just start fresh and close apps and when its all connected, then open Pro Presenter and try again.
thats a great question.... always try to update the software... if it still doesn't work, just manually set it. If you still have issues, you might be having an hdmi cable issue.
Guys, so difficult! Just use 2 outputs in ProPresenter. 1 output for Main screen (LED or Projector), and output - livestream, with different graphics on each output. Don’t create a chromakey or black background. Best way, just use a transparent background in PP output settings!) 🤠
We noticed if we don’t use the software control on a laptop and you use the actual atem to switch between cameras, it turns off the chroma key. Why is that? Is there a way to change it?
This is a feature that can be turned on and off in the atem control software. Ill have to do a follow up on this... If you go to the ATEM Setup app, on the configure page, in the "panel settings" select "Drop with Transition" or "Stay on with transition".
@@CompassionDanville honestly thats great news! We use a Constellation 8k switcher and a Broadcast, and a couple others... we dont use the Atem Mini's unless its a mobile shoot like an interview or something.
