Nice instruction video, @Alexi The DJ. I've had problems like this myself and ajusting the bitrate to fit my network bandwidth solves the problem. I always run a speed test before streaming to know what kind of bandwith to expect. I also never overcommit on bitrate by never exceeding 30% of my expected bandwith for streaming. Also in this video you seem to mix Megabit with Megabytes. 8 bits goes in one byte. In general today bits are used when talking about the speed of data and bytes are used for the size of data. Bits are always referenced with a small caps b and bytes with a captial B.
Hi Ivar, I'm glad i could help, I couldn't find a video on RUclips with the help i needed, so i thought let me try help someone with the same problem. Thanks for the tip on Megabit and Megabytes, truly appreciate it. Stay Safe.
thanks Alexi. i appreciate what you've found. But i think there is still a much bigger question to be asked of Blackmagic here. And that is simply why does OBS work just fine at 4500kbps but the Atem Mini falls over at 3000kbps? There's something wrong in the ATEM. Reducing the bitrate to even lower than 3000 is a good solution to get it going but the quality will suffer and when OBS through the exact same internet connection does not have this issue, then again, there is something wrong in the ATEM that they should acknowledge and resolve.

I've wondered that as well. My internet connection says I should be good to upload up to 8000kbps, but I was struggling at 3000 today. I have a feeling the ATEM Mini was the issue.
Hi DJ Prashant, Correct, streaming to your own webpage helps with copyright issues. I haven't streamed to my website for about 8 weeks now as i have been busy with Gig backlogs postponed due to Covid-19. Basically, I have a website with WIX.com, web Page -> bit.ly/3gekhNt My upload video length depends on the package I chose with WIX, so my video library only allows me to upload a max of 2 hours of footage, therefore I make short 30 minute DJ mixes. The process is simple, It works the same way as RUclips or Facebook, I use my own encoder "OBS" and WIX gives me a custom Server URL and Stream Key, I then generate a new platform with ATOM on the ATEM Software Control, using the process I mention in my video and then I Go Live "On Air" with my stream and that stream goes directly to my web page. I hope that helps.
Dude, you're connecting to a Twitch server in Hongkong! Wouldn't you get far better rates if you selected a server that is not halfway around the globe, but NEAR you, like in SA?
Hi Dude, Thank you for the advice, I tried closer servers and still had the same issues, the steps in my video helped me solve my problem, as i do not have any issues now. Stay Safe.
MegaBITS not megabytes.. One byte is 8 bits. Network speed is expressed in megabits per second. So if your network upload speed is 10 Mbits/s, you can "push" a little over 1 Mbyte of data every second.
Hi Wild Edric, it should, just a heads up, double check it at the end, because if there is any mistake you wont be able to stream, the "on air" will just flash. best of luck.
How does it look streaming 1080p 25 or 30 frames per second at 1.5Mbs?? It most be very blurry if you change camera or move a lot in the screen. Can we see an example of live streaming at such an extreme low bitrate with such a high (1080p) resolution?
Hi, sure thing, you can follow the link to my Twitch page bit.ly/3676ZPw , the audio has a slight hiss as i damaged the cable unplugging it from my mixer on Monday, will be replaced over the weekend.
Hi Alexi my story is the same as yours but trying to Dj on Mixcloud. The ATEM was caching so I did what you said and brought the bitrate down to 1.5mb/s. It worked the first time using audio and video. No caching. And my upload was at times 3.5mb/s yet it still worked. But the second time I just used audio with a still picture and 15 minutes in, the caching went to full and mixcloud just dropped out. This time my upload was not even 1.5mb/s yet it dropped out. So back to the drawing board. Mixcloud recommends 720p video resolution, 2.5mb/s video bitrate and 320 kbps audio bitrate. I was using 1080 p, 1.5mb/s and 64 respectively. Unfortunately the ATEM doesn't do 720p but this could be the issue. I'm going try finding out how to get 720p and see if it makes a difference. Any suggestions? Btw thanks for your video. Really nicely presented.
Hi Jaysen, thank you for the words, i'm glad that some folks appreciate the efforts. I have had a few messages via my socials asking for help with problems similar to ours, so i will record a video with solutions and probabilities and post it on my channel soon. However, here is some feedback that could help you and others following. Mixcloud Live: I have not tried Mixcloud Live at all, so i cannot give you an answer yet. I understand FB will downscale a stream to 720, however Twitch and Mixcloud wouldn't, because of their servers its best to stick to 720 for both platforms, please see Internet connections below. OBS: This option works perfectly, i have a green screen and 2 cameras which i use via the ATEM and connected to my Mac, i will have a stutter here and there during the stream but nothing too serious. You can follow me as Mr_o_so_Disco on Twitch. Twitch Studio for Mac: I've tried 1080, 720 and less, at 60/30/20 f/s but its just horrible, i'll sort out video but then the audio cuts, i'll then sort out the audio and the video is glitchy. For me, it just doesn't work. Restream.i.o: I have only used this once for a test stream at 1080 and had no problem, i streamed via OBS to Restream.i.o and then to FB, RUclips and Twitch and played RUclips free music to avoid copyright, i also used a looping intro video and after 10 minutes i ended the stream and had no problem. Internet Connections: I must point out i changed my router since recording this video and it resolved a lot of the issues i had. I still can only stream around 1mb/s , 1.5mb/s pushing it at certain times of the day using the ATEM. Yes, Higher internet speeds are better but if you in the same situation as what i am, try this. First do a power reset of your router, then do a speed test and check what your upload speeds are at the time you want to stream, if you have at least 4 - 9 mb/s upload then start your stream, run it for 5-10 mins, also try using an image or looping video, then end the stream and see what the outcome is. If you still encounter a problem, disconnect all devices sharing your bandwidth and only use your ATEM and or PC, remember if you have other devices sharing your network then that would decrease your upload speeds, now start the stream again and follow the same process. If the problem persists try again but at a different time during the day, i.e. you are trying to find the time of day you can stream with no problem, with what you have. look at streaming at 720 instead of 1080, you don't want to add unnecessary stress to the servers. Yes, the ATEM streams at 1080 so try using OBS, set the output to 720 and the audio respectively. Also, try streaming via OBS at 1080 to Restream.i.o and see if you have a problem, then switch it to 720 and see what that outcome is. Also, make sure you choose the correct upload speed in the drop down menu of your ATEM software control after you have changed settings on the .XML, Check this each time you stream, I have made that mistake in the past and the cache fills up. I hope this helps.
@@AlexiTheDJ Hi Alexi Thanks for your quick reply. I was on the phone to Black Magic here yesterday. They got me to make a bunch of tests to check the consistency of the internet here. They were saying that because MIXCLOUD only has a server in London to stream to perhaps the ping time may be too great...about 300ms which is really poor. That could be it because when I streamed to twitch I had no issues, as they have servers in Asia. They didn't really give me a solution. However I tried a stream prime time last night here in Melbourne after changing a couple of settings, and it went perfectly. 3 cameras, lots of movement in the picture while I was DJing, and it still didn't drop out, lag or anything for the 2 and half hours. The only thing that I can put this down to is that I changed the ATEM mini resolution from 1080p 60fp/s to 30fp/s and I put the Video bitrate back up to 2500 - 3500. Mixcloud still recommends 720p but as we know the ATEM mini pro wont do that. Mixcloud also recommend a audio bitrate of 320 but even though I set it as such in the xml, Mixcloud keeps telling me that I'm only streaming 64. So I'm not sure what is going on there. But at least I'm not dropping out. I bought the ATEM mini pro because I didn't want all the hassle of OBS and using a computer. I tried it before and it was a nightmare trying to set up the cameras and everything. When the ATEM mini pro doesn't drop out, its the best. To be honest I don't see anyone doing what I'm doing while DJing, because I'm using the ATEM mini pro. I can create much more active show with it. I'll check out your show and see you on Twitch. I don't use twitch anymore because of the copyright issue. MIXCLOUD is no longer in Beta as of yesterday, maybe that has something to do with it. Anyway, hope all goes well with your mix mate and take care.

@@AlexiTheDJ Hi Alexi yes I see why you might use OBS. I'm trying to avoid buying another computer. Also just to let you know I just did another show and it cached 3 times. But what I did was, as it went up to 40% I would press the off button (which 'appears' to have no effect). But I would then watch for it to drop out 2 mins later, and then I would hit the ON button so it would restart straight away. So I guess it was clearing the bottle neck and restarting fresh again. Not ideal but it kept things going and that was over a 2 hr set. Last time when it worked perfectly, I had cleared the browser cache before starting my mix. Maybe that's what helped. I'll try that again before my next mix and see what happens. I really do think it's my ping time though with having mixcloud servers too far away. I hope they get one in Asia soon.
