Give Em Enough Rope is an outstanding album. The Clash relocated to San Francisco to record it on a then relatively new 24 track board. Some of their best songs are on it like Stay Free , Safe European Home & Tommy Gun. It sounds incredible ! No sophomore slump & I saw the tour with Bo Diddley opening.

    I would add:
Led Zeppelin III - Led Zeppelin ... my favorite Zeppelin album (except for Out on the tiles)
    Dark Horse - George Harrison
Red Rose Speedway (the 2 lp version) - Paul Mccartney & Wings ... everyone talks about Band on the Run, but I find this one underrated
Band of Gypsies - Jimi Hendrix

    • @CSMuffin

Yes, I sometimes try and do non-Beatles related videos, otherwise Red Rose Speedway would be chosen for sure. I think it's an excellent album!

For me, the most underrated 70s albums are (in no particular order, just the order they come to mind)
    1. At Fillmore East - Allman Brothers Band
    2. Sunflower - The Beach Boys
    3. Diamond Dogs - David Bowie
    4. Tumbleweed Connection - Elton John
    5. New Morning - Bob Dylan
    6. That’s The Way It Is - Elvis Presley
    7. Cold Spring Harbor - Billy Joel
    8. George Harrison self titled
    9. The Psychomodo - Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel
    10. Slade In Flame - Slade

Always happy when Deaf School gets a mention. I got their first two records way back in the summer of '77 and loved them. The band shifted gears quite a bit on English Boys / Working Girls, and it took a while for me to appreciate it. But there are great songs on that album. Also, it's pronounced "ACK-oh-lades." Unless you're praising Dan Aykroyd, in which case your pronunciation would be correct.

I think Rough Mix by Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane is woefully underrated. Relaxed and charming, it contains some of Pete's best solo stuff and Annie is simply one of the most beautiful songs ever. Rick Danko's self titled album is another favorite. Loaded with guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, Doug Sahm, Blondie Chaplin and his four Band mates, it's filled with nice, low key tunes. There's a warmth to it that's infectious. I also want to mention They Only Come Out At Night by The Edgar Winter Group. I loved this album when I was a kid. I can still remember the look on my dad's face when he saw the cover. I dug it out a while ago and boy, the music still holds up. Great stuff.

3 Dog Night, lots hits, but that may have been their Achilles heel. Sold lots of singles, but to me they were not an album band. I never had one, and I can't remember any friends having any either, with the exception of the Greatest Hits. Had 21 straight singles released from 69-75 that hit the BIllboard top 40. Never heard of Deaf School. Love Tech X! Mirrors - definitely underrated. I have Golden Earrings entire discography, and Switch is my fav. I do love Survival, especially side 2, but my fav is a tie between the ST and E. Pluribus. And the Live Album stands on its own. Nice picks (except Lou Reed) Larry!

I absolutely love Sally Can't Dance! (But then again, I really love everything Lou Reed ever did.....well, except for MetalMachineMusic.....). I bought that 3DogNight album when it came out, and I still have it today and it is my favorite album of theirs. I never understood the lack of respect afforded to them. I discovered at least a dozen other great artists by way of 3DogNight covering their songs (including Randy Newman). And yes, The Spotlight Kid is an excellent album indeed. Once again, I never understood the lack of enthusiasm for that album either, even by those who claim to hate stuff like Trout Mask and Decals (which are my favorite Beefheart albums, haha!). I bought Tormato when it came out also and was kinda disappointed at the time after the mindblowing excellence of Going For The One, but......I still enjoy listening to it now and then because it has some really good songs like Madrigal, Onward, and On The Silent Wings of Freedom. And I love Survival by GFR (that soulful opening track Country Road always hooks me in and I love their take on Dave Mason's Feelin' Alright). Sorry to be so long-winded here, but you really picked some great choices, Larry!! Cheers. Jeff

The Who : The Who By Numbers
Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes : Hearts of Stone. ( if you haven't heard this , correct that oversight immediately )
Cat Stevens : Catch Bull at Four
    Mike Oldfield : Guitars

I look forward to checking out Deaf School .

It was not hip to be a singles band in the 70s. 3 Dog was the best of the decade. And they did not desecrate Otis Redding nearly as badly as Michael Bolton or the Black Crowes. Definitely HOFers. Plus, one of the singers (Negron) was one of the only two recorded instances of someone literally busting a nut servicing a groupie (Eno was the other). And they got the phrase "Shit no! " into a #1 hit (Mama Told Me"). Randy Newman once thanked them for putting his kid through college with the royalties from that one.

I'm surprised you made no mention of arguably not only one of the greatest Canadian guitarists but of all guitarists back in the '70's who still hardly gets the proper respect he truly deserved on any LP he put out. That being "Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush" my friend. Unless you personally were never a fan of MR I'll understand & give you a pass. However if you dig Frank's music then you should already know the natural gifted talent Frank had. Marino was born to play the guitar, no bout a doubt it. And I'm far from being one of those fan freaks who you can't reason with no matter how hard you try. Still I can't ignore some of the jams they put out back in the day. The Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush Live LP in 1978 is criminally overlooked to a lot of rock fans of music. The dude was a little short of a 6-pack & eccentric ways of dealing with sh!t to others around him. I'm just saying... +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😉🤘
