Correction, the "greatest band in the universe" IS from Earth! The Beatles!! Headlock & death rays, from Mars, probably come in second. But even they were influenced heavily by The Beatles!
Hope you're doing well Larry!

. Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
. Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band
.The Beatles

Fine list, CSM! Glad you highlighted the Clash’s Sandinista! It’s become my favorite as well. It ain’t perfect but that’s part of its charm. Wish they stuck to their guns with initial plans of making Combat Rock a double album! I too am somewhat new to Can - thanks to Pitchfork’s Best of the 70s list from a few years back. Future Days is the perfect choice to introduce someone to the band. Ege Bamyası is a great Can album, too!

12. Poco- First few albums I loved, Crazy Eyes was the last great one then they fizzled into a manufactured sound type of band
11. Blood Sweat and Tears- A band that I have always loved, the early years at least. Great sound.
10. The Guess Who-I had the best of when I was a kid and the songs always stuck in my head.
9. Lovin' Spoonful-Another band that I had their greatest hits and ended up buying their records
8. Love- Forever Changes is a must hear album right up there with Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds
7. Neil Young- At one point in my life I listened to him obsessively

5. The Police-One of the greatest bands ever
4. Black Sabbath

Gentle Giant
Genesis
Cream
The Doors
Iron Maiden
The Who
Honorable mentions: Deep Purple, RHCP, The Smiths, Camel, ELP, Jethro Tull

Great list! I got into Sparks because of you.
Awesome! Thank you!
Where have I beeeeeen?
Ive never even heard of Weeeeeen!
Its all my fault
If i dont much like Blue Oyster Cult
😂😊
I always thought Papier Mache sounded very Beatles like in places...its a unique album even amongst the prolific diversity that is the rest of their discography.
The Mothersky video is a must watch from Soundtracks. That's the experience that really got me into Can.
Can you believe i only got into Loaded after watching Loki despite previous attempts!
Great choices Larry👍!
I never heard of Sparks until I started watching your channel. Now they show up here and there. How did I miss them?!
Ween’s Quebec sounds familiar. I might have checked it out before. I’ll try again.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard I’ve been hearing a lot about them. It seems they are release-a-holics. I’ll have to check them out.
I’m planning a top 13 Canuck band list for Canada Day. So far there are 30 bands on the list. Gotta trim that down!
Can’s Tago Mago is the only Can album I have. Some tracks are really awesome. But, yes, a couple are quite bizarre.
I couldn’t rank mine, except for the top 3. I’d say 12 are The Clash, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Who, Beastie Boys, The Beach Boys, The Zombies, R.E.M., The Police, Sex Pistols, The Stooges, and Cream
Top 3:
1. Beastie Boys
2. The Clash
3. The Beach Boys
If anyone says Beastie Boys aren’t a band, listen to any of their albums from the 90s
The Beatles, solo Beatles, Daryl hall & John Oates, Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, Roxy music. I like other stuff as well, but those are the ones that are my go tos. 💁🏻♀️
My favorites are a bit more firmly entrenched. They are:
THE BEATLES
The Rolling Stones
The Who
Deep Purple (Mark II and III)
Black Sabbath (Ozzy era but I enjoy most of the later incarnations)
The Doors
The Kinks
CCR
The Band
The Byrds
The Allman Brothers Band
Badfinger
Also:
The Clash
The Guess Who
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (Mike Campbell is so important)
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
Jefferson Airplane
Chicago (until Terry Kath's death)
The Small Faces/The Faces
I'm such an old fart.
Great list. I figured you'd have the Beatles and Sparks as 1 and 2.
For me:
1: The Beatles
2: Pink Floyd
3: E.L.O.
4: Brian Eno
5: The Magnetic Fields
6: The Doobie Brothers
7: The Psychedelic Furs
8: The New Pornographers
9: Simon and Garfunkel
10: The Rolling Stones

12: The Kinks
If we get technical about "band" I'd replace Eno and Simon and Garfunkel with... Wire and Fleetwood Mac
Already "f'd" up. R.e.m. has to be in there somewhere... Probably 5

I don't have twelve bands that I like Larry,I like bits of different bands stuff but there's very little that I'm really into,I'm heavy into the Beatles and Paul McCartney but that's it,I really don't care that much about any other artist, that may sound strange with my being a musician and all but I'm just being honest,I'm really not into music like you are, sorry. Bob
Let me guess: The Beatles is number One :)))))
Welcome back Larry
Thanks Dave!
