@@ebutuoyebutouy That salmon tartare mixture is delicious! I don't think it's wild caught though unfortunately, I wish it was but I'm pretty sure it's farm raised
@@HongtheFoodie Supposedly it's supposed to say on the package. "Sustainable" is the same as farm raised. Apparently all Alaskan salmon is wild caught? Perhaps it was King Salmon. Looks so good but apparently they have found ways to enhance the color of farm raised salmon.
@ebutuoyebutouy I've only been to Nippan Daido 100 times, but I can't remember what it says on the package or even what type of salmon it is 😅 I don't know if I've ever seen Alaskan salmon anywhere. Where do you get yours at? I try to find wild caught but it never looks appetizing. Maybe I'll try whole foods next time. Oh yes I'm sure they have found ways to enhance the appearance, I try not to think about it when I eat it lol 😆
@@HongtheFoodie Kroger used to occasionally have Alaskan King Salmon @$35/lb. But slow turnover means not so fresh. The one that does not look so good to me is the wild caught sockeye salmon. Has that glazed look. Last time I was at Whole foods in The Woodlands they had 3 varieties of Alaskan Salmon. $$$. I bought the cheapest: Sockeye. Made ceviche. For ceviche I think you ideally want white fish. Was pretty good. Way out of your way is Champion Seafood Market. Awesome but expensive. After I go to Sushi Haya on sh249 I go swing by for their frozen sardines and/or smelt. I can't do packaged dutch herring/rollmops (dutch sashimi) because of the high salt.
@@ebutuoyebutouy Ahh I see. It must be sockeye salmon that I don't like either then lol. I love Whole Foods but so expensive 😩. I do occasionally go there to get their baby lamb chops, that's one thing I'll get there. Pricey but always fresh and delicious. Oh and their berry Chantilly cake. Everything else I window shop haha. Ceviche sounds delicious! Do you put pineapple in yours? I just had it like that last week at a birthday party and I couldn't believe how much it enhanced the taste, it was delicious. I have heard of Champions Seafood Market and have been wanting to scope it out. I just recently had sardines for the first time about a month ago. My coworkers brought some food that some of us never had before including sardines, so I tried it. People hated it but I loved it lol 🤣, so I was just in the corner enjoying the sardines while everyone else was gagging. And then we ended up eating fried crickets, but that's a whole nother story lol. I never had dutch sashimi before, and didn't even know that existed?!
Hey Hong, You are so talented! I have not tried to make sushi, even though I have made many Chinese dishes. I think you can get higher quality salmon than what you get at a Chinese buffet! Enjoy your weekend and the upcoming Thanksgiving!🍗
@@williamyee2294 Oh no, either you're lying or just being nice lol 😆 . Anyone can do it!! You should try it yourself and if you do, I want to hear about it! Have a great weekend and happy Thanksgiving!
@@HoustonEats It would be cheaper and more convenient to go to an all you eat Sushi restaurant, but the fish quality is better at Nippan Daido imo. But it also does take time to make the sushi at home ya know and at an ayce, there are a variety of options to choose from. So pros and cons to both, I guess it kinda just depends on what you want at that moment. I love salmon so I'm happy with just making it in various forms at home. But I also like the ayce aspect :)
Ohhh... Good to see you in the kitchen again... I'll admit it looks good😎... But I don't eat much sushi... So I'm not an expert on it... But I'm still a far more superior cook than you lol... This is pay back from last time lol🤭🤣🤣

Would the price be similar and be more convenient if you went to an "All You Can Eat" Sushi restaurant?
