Hi I'm Hong and I love food with a passion lol. I'm pretty much a glutton. I have asked for forgiveness from Jesus because at this point it's pretty much a sin. I can talk about food for hours and hours (and days lmao). Welcome to my channel. If you like food just as much as me, then rock on lol. If you like pork ribs I think Pappas BBQ downtown location has the best pork ribs I have ever had. Their potato salad is homemade and good also. If you want the best beef rib and brisket in Houston is at The Pitroom on Richmond st. The beef rib is expensive but so worth it...

You need to try the new Estar off 290 and Dacoma. They have a large sushi area that is so good, also their chicken vegetable soup is good. As a plus they have a robot hostess that could seat you and if it is your birthday the robot will do a whole music dance. Pro tip at all the Estar buffets they put the fresh food at the bottom, so best to not get the food on top of the tray...
@@raulcastillo1828 I actually went to the estar on 290 and dacoma once for lunch. Based on that visit, I really really enjoyed it!!! I been meaning to come back for dinner. I'll try the chicken vegetable soup when I go for sure 🙂
I have eaten there before, they normally put the fresher food at the rear of the tray. Next time you really need to try the mango jello, it is sooo good...

Personally, I do not like the buffet at Kim Son. They have changed their menu over the years but their foods ain't that great. I was there one time and never come back.

it looks so good. I am diabetic and have to watch what sweets I eat. Do you like moon cakes? Most Asian bakeries start making them for the August Moon celebration. Have you heard of wafe;'s cake or winter melon cake. Have you tried King's Bakery in Chinatown near Great Wall Supermarket? They have a more limited selection including char sui buns. I don't think I have ever had moon cakes before, or maybe I have and I didnt know they were called moon cakes lol. I haven't heard of King's Bakery or winter melon cake. @@HongtheFoodie Hey Hong, Yep, moon cakes are available at the Asian stores as well as somee of the larger bakeries. Moon cakes are often filled with lotus paste and egg yolks. There are many sweet fillings used. The winter melon cakes look similar to moon cakes and available year round. Alpha Bakery makes banh mi sandwiches and located in Hong Kong Mall (they may bake their bread. When you want to get adventurous, you can try more Tex-Mex or Texas BBQ restaurants. I will be happy to share my recommendations with you.👍 .
@@williamyee2294 Actually, I think one of my coworkers made some moon cakes and gave me two to try yesterday, so I take that back 😆 , I have had it before. The outside was like Mochi and in 1, it had red bean paste and then the other had cream cheese and mango I want the real authentic Mexican food, not tex-mex..oh come on William lol. @@Chris-de2qc I like Bun Bo Hue Duc Chuong (it's very similar), but in all honesty I really enjoyed the location off the beltway of i-45 south. The other locations were just okay to me but this was also years ago, I would have to go back to the Bellaire location and see how it compares currently

We found Quan Ba Ky about a month ago and it is wonderful. Friendly, helpful staff. They understand gluten allergies and gave us good recommendations.

I went there once when it first opened and never went back. Kim Son is way better as far as fresh food buffet and it is $25.00 not $40.00

I’m starting my career as a math teacher and I LOVE EDUCATION! But guess what?? I also LOVE NURSING!! Maybe in 3-4 years time, I want to get into an ABSN program to become an RN in two years and then branch into OBGYN and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. I knew a teacher who used to be a nurse (she changed careers due to ptsd of trying to advocate for a sick infant who died because the stupid jerk doctor refused to listen!). I however, am secretly going into nursing but won’t go right away. I bought a curriculum into nursing to kind of familiarize myself ahead of time. I know ppl say don’t do that but if I’m truly serious, then I will put in the time and effort before nursing school.

My first year was so exciting, I remember having so much fun decorating my classroom Ooh wow ob gyn and sexual assault examiner sounds super interesting!! And it's sad that some doctors and healthcare providers don't listen to each other for the patient's benefit, just because they don't want to put their prides down. I've seen it happen too often and have gone through it firsthand as well. That's cool you bought a nursing curriculum, you sound passionate about both education and nursing. I went there once because of a recommendation from Facebook also. I ordered the Shrimp Garlic Noodles, and it was very delicious.

Hey Hong, I can't believe you find all these hidden gems around Houston. I thought I was an expert at finding new places. Lol. You sure like your food spicy with the peppers and chili oil. I might put one piece of pepper and a drop of chili oil! But you put handful of pickled peppers and dump a jar of chili oil in your soup and drink it like you need more seasoning!😂

@@HongtheFoodie GN Hong, Lol, yes I have to conceal to you for all the Vietnamese and Sushi places that you try. I am learning more about Asian cuscine, even though I am Asian. I'm happy that you try some of the places that I recommend. Have you tried any new restaurants on the Houston Restaurant Week list? You could go back to Le Jardinier for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner to see what other dishes you might like. Have a great weekend!

On the bean thing.... Green beans and string beans are the same thing, but the term "string" is mostly kinda outdated. The name "string" comes from the fibrous/ tough string that runs the length of the pod, which have to be removed before eating. Also sounds like you get hunger headaches.

@HongtheFoodie Hello Hong, You're right, I need to get my fix. Speaking of fix, you better hurry if you want live crawfish! Lol, it is near the end of the season, and you may have to settle for frozen crawfish. Some of the Chinese buffets serve acceptable frozen crawfish. I am not sure why original owners sold their business. Before opening this location, they were located in old Chinatown, near Minute Maid Park. I remember lunch plates were $5.00 for 2 meats and veggies. It started out as Asian grocery store and evolved to doing only Chinese BBQ. I have another place for you to try nearby. It is named Cali's Sandwich & Pho. They make great Bahn MI sandwiches. Have you heard of them? Keep up the great work!
@@williamyee2294 I think crawfish season is over..only some restaurants have live but who knows how fresh they are + prices have gone back up 😭. Wow...$5 for 2 meats and veggies?! I was also looking at eat like a local on RUclips (the one you told me about) and he went there. I'll have to make my way there one day
I've been there a couple times. The ladies that work the front would get annoyed if I asked a question or make small talk. Not customer friendly.
i think there are new owners, there was no ladies behind the counter. the older lady chopping the was skimpy on the meat!
