  • I used to come here all the the time!! Prices have gone up but still pretty affordable. They have two locations, one in south Houston and the 2nd in North Houston. This is one of my favorite places for some good solid bun bo hue! They have small, medium, and large. Small is like a medium, medium is like a large, and large is like a challenge bowl LOL. Come with an appetite :)

Bún bò Huế , that is my most favorite of all VN noodle soups lol..😋. I only use that chili paste concoction as a dipping sauce, never in the soup lol..just veggies and a squeeze of lime/lemon is all I need That chili plant, I don't think is very hot, it's more like for decoration

It's so good right?? Ooh I never thought to dip my meat in that chili. I think you could dip anything in that chili paste/oil, and it'll taste good lol. I haven't tried the peppers yet, but I think you might be right 😅

GM Hong, It looks delicoius! I am learning about all the Vietnamese Noodle soup from you. I had Bue Bo Hue a long time ago, but I have a more refined palate now and need to try it again. Did I tell you that I am also a grocery shopping expert, both Asian food(more Chinese foods) and American food? I worked in a Mom and Pops American grocery store growing up and learned about it takes to operate a grocery store. Have a great weekend and stay cool.

    • @HongtheFoodie

I definitely enjoy a good bowl of bun bo every now and then. If someone has never tried any Vietnamese soup before, that's the one I would make them try first. You gotta try it :) Even though our taste buds are ever-changing, that's the one thing I can eat over and over and never get tired of. We owned a convenient store growing up so I learned how to operate the cash register, but not what it takes to actually operate the business. Did you manage the store and all that? Have a great weekend William

@@HongtheFoodie hey Hong, it was great to hear about your childhood days. Like ma y immigrante that come to US, the first generation ran small businesses and all the children pitched in to make it successful my parent's business was a neighborhood grocery store before everyone had multiple cars and shopped at the neighborhood store. We were located next to middle school and had to contend with traffic and hours of school. I helped out doing everything in the store except butchering. I helped with stocking, cashiering as well as delivery of groceries when I became old enough to drive. I worked in grocery store from early age until i starelted my career as an engineer. It was a good experience in my life. Is it crawfish boil

@@williamyee2294 Oh wow William you did a lot. And you even had the desire to pursue higher education, your parents must have been so proud of you. Not saying that you have to have higher education for them to be proud, but the fact that you were a blessing to them. They sacrificed for you but you also sacrificed for them especially being so young and helped them out tremendously at their shop but at the same time you had a goal in mind and you worked towards achieving it, and you did successfully. I worked the cash register and restocked a little bit here and there. But then we ended up moving further away from the store and my older siblings took over. I ended up working several jobs throughout high school and college instead. I helped at the store from time to time when they needed me
I wish it was crawfish boil lol. We won't be able to this weekend, but hopefully we will be able to have one every weekend starting next weekend because Boyd's said they'll have crawfish until July, maybe longer but they're not so sure either

Hey Hong, I admire you for your accomplishments as well. As I mentioned, the first generation works hard for the kids so that there will bemore opportunity . When I was working the long hours, I felt i was missing out on doing lies ure time. Looking back, it was probably the best use of the time. I guess you understood my comment about the crawfish boil without me writing the entire comment. It is getting close to the end of the season. I was trying to rease you but I was having some difficulty with typing the text. I guess you jinxed me!😂

@@williamyee2294 You understood where I was going with as well when I said you sacrificed your leisure and kid time to help at the shop, but at the same time it actually was a blessing because you got to spend time with your parents (I don't think a lot of kids nowadays have that opportunity unfortunately) and at the same time it taught you the definition of hard work at such a young age
Hahah! Just give it up on the teasing, it won't work! lol😄

Hi Hong, have you ever tried Don Café & Sandwich at 9300 Bellaire Blvd? I think they have the best Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches.

Ooh yeah I've been there about 3-4 times. I have tried their pork sandwich and I think ham sandwich. I like their ham sandwich. I love banh mis because they're so good and affordable!! 🙂 Have you tried Mys Baguettes? I'm not a huge fan of the actual bread, but I really like their butter omgosh it's so good. We have tried to replicate their butter at home, but can't seem to copy it lol. They also sell their butter by the tub, it's so garlicky and delicious mhm. I could just eat some plain ole bread with that butter haha

Not a fan of shrimp paste because that stuff will give you stomach cancer lol...there is a high incidence of cancer associated with that fermented shrimp and fermented fish. Only know because my brother in law is a surgeon and he deals with a lot of VN who have stomach cancer and many have died from it.
