Hello Dr Sean Hashimi, can you please link the studies to the results of coffee for patients with kidney disease. Ive been suffering from kidney disease for a long time and am very interested. Thank you

Good morning. How about drinking coffee with coffemate is it safe? Thank you
This might be true with 100% organic coffee. But what they do is they buy cheap low-class coffee beans and then they spray it with synthetic caffeine. Coffee beans are among the most highly sprayed and chemically treated crops in the world. Crops are steeped in synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. So was this taken into consideration?
@@lenny108 do you have any studies, evidence of this? Seems interesting if true.
I'd say a cup a coffee for the morning is good but rest of the day I'm drinking more water to clean it out.
i'm 87 and have drunk coffee daily since i was around 16. Kidneys great, liver great. heart great.
thank you for sharing sir - much appreciated !!
May you live a long and healthy life!
At the onset of my diagnosis with stage 3 kidney disease, I immediately but reluctantly stopped taking coffee on the advice of my ignorant attending physician. Now, on the back of this competent review, I have resumed taking my beloved coffee in peace.
I don't think it will end well for you
The research studies indicate the path to take for better health. Coffee has its benefits.
I have stage 3
May God give you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹.
@@NYCUSA Thank you for your thoughtful and kind words.
That's real good to know I can have my coffee in the morning I've been drinking it for years I have no problem, I am 72 years old, very good speaker
I am 81 yrs old and am blessed with good health. I drink around 10 cups of coffee per day. The only problem I have is arthritis in my hands and I blame this on the type of work I did.
Amazing and that sounds s a secret
10 is a bit much. I hope it doesn’t affect your sleep.
@@SELFPrinciple I drink coffee before I sleep for the past 40 odd years now.

I feel strangely awkward and hard to sleep when I drink just 2 to 4 cups of coffee a day. Only when I realised it, I stopped drinking for at least 2 weeks. Then when my sleep and gloggy feelings are all gone, I decided to drink only one cup a day.

Wow. I expected to hear that I would have to quit coffee! This is very good news!
We drink on average about 8 cups of coffee per day. We have not used sugar for the past 8 years and sweeten our coffee with stevia. We use full cream milk, mostly unpastuerized, which we buy fresh (sometimes still warm) from a dairy about 300 metres from our home. People should be more concerned about sugar and artificial sweeteners, as well as so-called coffee creamers than about the cafein in the coffee.
Some people are caffeine sensitive and are concerned for good reason.
Interesting. My three brothers suffered from cancer on one of their kidneys requiring removals. They did not drink coffee, and I drink @ 3 cups per day and still possess both kidneys.
All hail coffee.... 👍👍🙏
Sadly, my husband who drinks more coffee than anyone I know lost a kidney to cancer
Can't help good genes
More than just interesting, but important evidence that the cause is not necessarily in the substance.
Another grand example is, why does not everyone who drinks alcohol, not become an alcoholic?
All 3 brothers? Sounds hereditary, or something stewed up in a crock pot.
Sir,you are an exceptional communicator. I observed your hand gestures and noted they enhanced your presentation. Most English-language speakers detract and distract, seemingly oblivious, like a musically inept symphony conductor, flailing at imaginary mosquitos,it seems.Italian-language speakers are examples of people that enrich their conversation with complementary physical movements.I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease at age 64 which has been in remission and am now 76.I have not been prescribed any meds etc. No noticeable symptoms at all. I drink 2 to 4 cups coffee daily,2 of herbal tea,2 lemon with water,1 qt . Yogurt, berry smoothie. No drugs other than caffeine. Can drink coffee and go to sleep right away. I will watch, subscribe, learn, and enjoy your videos.Thank you Sir.

There was a show several years ago that pointed out good leaders used a lot of hand gestures. Seems like the next day everyone was flailing their arms trying to look the part. Look at Nancy pelosi I can't tell if she's having an epileptic fit or had a little too much vodka
Oh, and thanks for the great presentation Dr. I drink about 10 cups a day myself. I don't make it extra strong though. I just don't like water lol.
Thank you so much for your professional clear presentation regarding the link between CKD and coffee consumption. My eGFR has been monitored for years and recently dipped to 59. My job and income, not to mention my quality of life, is dependent on a certain level of health. I can now enjoy some Java guilt free knowing it maybe beneficial! Thank you!
Thank you from Australia. My plant based diet moved my egfr from 26 to 39 and creative 200 to 140 so far after 4 months. Thank you for your generosity

You reminded me of my patient in a Nursing Home . She was in her 90s and had developed Hypertension .Her MD ordered her to stop eating Bacon right away .My pt begged her MD to let her continue eating daily breakfast staple ,since she was a child .He declined .She got depressed and died few days later .MDs can be cruel at times and do not believe everything they say ,as theyre human being too and make mistakes or do poor judgement . I dont believe what this MD is saying .
@@truthhurtsalways4u at 90 you don't stop people from what they have been doing.. few of us live that long
@@rhdtv2002It also applies to those who have terminal illnesses e.g days or months to live . I remember a sister of a man ,who was in moribund state (AIDS) in the early 90s .She told me his MD prohibited him from eating certain foods. She complained and told him not to restrict his food diet anymore ,since his death was imminent then.

What an interesting video. Dr. has answered the "coffee" question I've had for the past 12 years as related to coffee and CKD....stage 2..now 4. Accordingly to Dr.. Hashmi's comments...I've been doing the right thing with my 1-2 or 3max cups a day. I appreciate Dr's videos so much. Given the world of medicine and insurance these days....finding the time with one's physician to actually have important issues explained in a cogent, quiet manner is all but a luxury of the past. Dr. Hashmi and his dietician combined, make my trip down the CKD lane much easier. Thank you so much for all your clarification.
You should investigate the well proven benefits of extracts of Angelica and Astralagus root for kidneys. In 4 months my egfr went from 30 to 50! I make tea and also extract it in vodka, which I am still drinking with that improvement. Dandelion root and leaves Also make for some good results. I don't use tablets, I buy the raw herbs.
You mean you went from stage 2 to 4.. did you restrict diets..
Oh no...I was stage 2 back aout 13 years ago and it's taken these intervening years to slowly progress to stage 2. I'm doing my best to 'beat the cloclk' by being careful with my diet. @@arvin3745

Thank you with all my heart for giving your time to educate us. I have watched so many of your podcasts and before I found you and Michelle I was so confused about what to eat. May God bless you and Michelle.
Doesn't work for everyone. Plant based foods can cause inflammation in some people and that can be crippling inflammation. Grains for start are high in gluten a protein that is not healthy to our bodies as most people can not digest it. People over 40 eating fruit containing fructose can look ahead to type 2 you know what. Sugar is a killer and the more processed your food is the more additives there is in that food. If you are going to try whole plant food make sure they are natural and does not come with a bar code.
Thank you so much! This is certainly very important news for me to know. Very grateful.
Thank God! I was afraid it was bad news about ☕️ coffee, I don't think I could give it up if I had too. 3 cups a day for me,in the morning 😆
It still raises bp and cortisol which raises glucose for diabetes vs and be kidneys. The man told you it still had other side effects in the beg.

I truly enjoy your presentations full of useful correct information!!
Thank you for addressing the question regarding coffee consumption and kidney disease. As a recently diagnosed patient, it is just one of many questions that I have had. Online research has been discouraging due to conflicting opinions regarding what is safe/dangerous to consume when dealing with kidney disease.
Hope you do well Sir.
Probably drinking a fair amount of pure, distilled water (not to be confused with purified one which is full of chemicals) could be better than any commercial drinks. At least, it won't do any harm since it contains no minerals or salts. Hope you get well.
Be aware that CKD patients need to reduce potassium, which is high in coffee.
@@abrazorI thought coffee produces potassium.
That's my point. If you have CKD then you should keep coffee to a minimum as it is a BEAN product and has high potassium content. Potassium levels directly affect Creatinine Clearance, a main measure of Kidney health and performance.

Thanks doc. I have a mild proteinuria for years. I am followed by nephrologist because I am hypersensitive and have proteinuria. I used to not drink coffee at all until I got married. I used to not consume any alcohol at all too. My wife is a double extra shot or triple extra shot gal in her latte kind of gal. She also always have red wine with fine meals, and so now I joined in with her lifestyle. Coffee does make me jittery, so I usually have 1-2 cups a day. We even have a coffee/ wine bar now at home. I guess that’s OK. My child hood dream was to have a soda fountain installed in my house, but that’s out of question now. 😂

Drink decaffeinated. It's the caffeine that is giving you jitters. Some people are more sensitive to the excess caffeine.

Nice, brief, and straight to the point in laymen's terms. Very informative. No subscribe & like part, leading to an Ad in the middle. Some videos I watch just go on for too long, filled with speculation, trying to be funny, and complex unneeded information meant for scientists and doctors, that I tend to fast forward or just click off it. I watch tons of RUclips videos just about every night on many subjects, and prefer shorter ones like this. Some people create near-hour-long or more videos for a yes or no question. I wonder who watches them.
That being said, I've been a daily coffee drinker for about 40 years. So far, kidney and liver tests look good despite having been pre-diabetic for a while. I've been drinking at least a gallon of water a day for decades (not forced. I've always liked it), lately with lemon, and apple cider separately, and a few other things you tend to do as you get older, compared to the younger carefree days.

@@SELFPrinciple ✨ Coffee is not safe to drink regularly and does way more harm than any good ✨When everything is taken out of the “important context” coffee looks great but it is NOT. Coffee is a Nervous System Stimulant (in other words…drug) that causes your adrenal glands to go into hyperdrive for a couple of hours (using up mineral stores) and then exhausts the body leading to adrenal fatigue. Your 2 adrenal glands sit on top of your two kidneys and work in tandem with detoxifying the body from metabolic waste. If you want to examine coffee effect on the body, you have to look at adrenal function as well, and if you put that into the picture, you’ll quickly see it’s detrimental effects. Not a good job looking at things whole-listically. .

I also bring to boil cloves cinnamon and cayenne pepper pour into cup then add a cup of warm unhomogenised milk with my nestle green coffee (roasted with unroasted) and tablespoon of collagen. Tastes great and makes my morning coffee into a superfood of health benefits. I also add xylitol or manuka honey mixed with rice malt syrup 50/50 for sweetener.
