I'm basically a vet. I signed up, went to ft Benning and got sent home 17 days later due to failing EVERY PHUCKING HEARING TEST POSSIBLE. I even failed my first one at MEPS, passed the second "by one point". The audiologist said she didn't understand how i even got sent there.😂 Either way, I have a dd214 now and basically classified as a vet. Now....😂😅
Now you are in the horrid middle space of being a veteran that doesn't qualify for anything but still has to tote his DD214 around every darn place because government.
@williamguilfoyle3068 shits funny to me. I joined at 30, knowing I had bad hearing. They let me go. So I went. Sent me home after 17 days, all I did was stand in lines, do paperwork, get shots eat and take like a dozen hearings tests in multiple ways.. I think I went home fatter.. hahah
I ordered from cheaper then dirt this past vets day and my dad asked if they had vet discount cause he wanted some ammo, told em nah, he wasn’t surprised at all 😂. Some places honor it others don’t, most vets don’t care either way. They didn’t serve just to get discounts lol.
At my brother's bachelor's party we went to a golf place and I asked if they did a vet discount. one of his buddies asked why I keep asking at places, this place said yes and he understood when he said a few hundred dollars.
Shieeet I’m an actual Veteran and I find it unbelievably uncomfortable to ask for any type of veteran/ military discount. I didn’t join for a discount… the only time I get it is if they openly and blatantly advertise it, I get asked if I am a veteran or if my Wife is with me and she asks. Idk maybe it’s just me but I just don’t feel comfortable with it.
We appreciate you brother and we want to thank you for your service in any way we can. You don’t have to ask for the discount in our store, just tell us you served and we will apply the discount without saying a word.

that sucks. but "i was gonna join til i lost my foot" sounds alot better than "id totally join but id punch a DI for getting in my face like that bruh. they aint tough, they aint been in a real fight like ive been"
Dude its the vets with a criminal history that are the worst. I've had one steal from an elementary school safe and another one who deleted all the program files from a laser cutter, so he was the only one who could use it.
I think "basically a veteran" kinda defines me. By definition, it only applies after you're discharged under honorable conditions, which I was. But now I'm back as a reservist, so...vet or no vet?
I love arguing with people that see my DOD ID and try to give me a vet/military discount. Their eyes go crossed when I tell em I didn’t earn the discount so no dice.
Completing basic doesnt make you a veteran you have to go on tour to an active warzone to be considered a veteran i was injured after two years and i am not a veteran and i wasnt allowed to keep my cac because i didnt finish my 6 years reserved
