Ive never heard anyone else say this, but i always remember it as An"neck"conda, as the choking hand enters at the neck, and DARce enters under the ARmpit.. im dumb so it helps me remember🤷♂️
You're more helpful than any gym I've trained in. God bless you guys! My bros and I are doing some independent MMA and are doing track wrestling. I just got tired of all the drama in gyms.
Regarding the Anaconda Choke: I usually grab my bicep before I gator roll and then cinch the choke tight, but I can see how using the Gable grip before rolling and then grabbing the bicep to cinch is better. Your way gives more leverage to force the roll. Thanks for posting this.
I love the front headlock, especially when they're snapped down into turtle. But I have trouble setting up darce's from the spot. I usually swim around to try and take the back. Your demonstration certainly helps a lot, I'll be sure to drill it tonight after class. Thanks you
I always struggle to recall which is which, but I've had success by telling myself that an anaconda always goes for the neck 1st. I really appreciate your combo of demonstration & explanation. Individually they may not be any better or worse than any other's on RUclips, but for whatever reason the way they flow together make a very solid impression on me & come of really strong. Thank you!
Hi from Paris France. Thanks for your video. There are different ways for the Anaconda for ex the way by expanding my right leg straight like a barrage , fell to my right side and trap his leg.
My training partner made me do this like 10 × so now when I watch the video I'm able to follow along but any other video I can watch all day and not understand it. 😂 damn it
@@DJayDiamond - the guillotine, especially the 10-finger, is another potential option, as are the Peruvian necktie and some others. It depends on the defensive response of the person on bottom and it’s usually a good idea to have multiple tools to use in combination to increase the chance of success.
Sometimes the person in the choke is able to still flare the trapped arm, thereby opening enough space to resist the choke. The leg reinforces the arm configuration and prevents the person from flaring their arm.

When applying Anaconda, the attacker goes "HISSSSSSSSSSS!", like a snek, whereas in D'arce there's no hissing. Next question!
I like to whisper in their ear & promise them it's fine & everything will be OK. 😇But it won't. 😈

Great explanation and demo of both holds - and done under a minute! Thank you much for this video.

4 years of practicing and I just learnt the difference today, shame on me
I love these chokes they are so beautiful. Unfortunately these are chokes I just don't have a knack for. My go to is RNC or armlocks
Very helpful

Why do either of these instead of a normal headlock?
Headlocks don’t typically choke, they just control. These are for submissions.

What does the leg assist do at the end of the anaconda?
