    Truthfully, it is one the best escape methods for that hold that I have seen. Others depend to much on strength, which some may not have.

    While swinging the right hand down, I've also found it helps to have the left hand high above your head to help the right shoulder and arm get even lower and make a bigger space for the right arm to pass between your body and the attacker's Try it and see if you feel a difference.

      I do that alot. I use the added leverage of the coupler moment from using both sides. Think the push pull of the shoulders when punching. I dont just push my shoulder forward I pull the other shoulder back at the same time to add power.

    The problem is that the rear naked choke is not being properly applied, you drag the person backward, sometimes with a foot to the back of the knee until they are off their feet and literally hanging on your choke, most lose conscious in under 5 seconds.

    • @RodCalidge
      @RodCalidge 11 месяцев назад +12

      @danielfinney6071 I agree. If that rear choke is applied properly, you're gone in about 3 seconds, so you better be well practiced and quick with your response move.

      Yup, I would grab the elbow with both hands and pull down like my life depended on it and try to at least tuck my chin. Why? Because I would actually remember to do that. Props to this guy but I cant remember something like this in 3 seconds. Still very low percentage situation.

      Yes if that's the case you will see a lot of professional mma fighters escaping instead of sleeping or tapping. When applied correctly it's all most impossible to escape well unless it's like your toddler put you in one but that's the obvious.

    • @tectigermartialarts3548
      @tectigermartialarts3548 11 месяцев назад +4

      I was in a sparring with my friend. He was a wrestle and was about 3 or 4 inches taller than me. Many times, he would simply snap my head down, then arm drag me to get to my back. From there playing around he would put me in the rear naked choke and then stand straight up. But I found that if I could just get one side of my neck free so I didn't feel like I was going to pass out, I could then stay in the fight. Then we just started to play around with the whole idea. The idea of getting your shoulder in between you and your apponent is not a new one. But it one that works.

    Most rear chokes usually happen with you being pulled backward. It seems that with increased space It may make it easier to escape or reverse to a body lock. Pretty cool 😎

    • @MarilynStangl
      @MarilynStangl Месяц назад

      But as you're being pulled backward AND down will you be able to spin into him? Unless you can keep your legs under you, you will start falling backward which will increase the pressure on your neck! i believe that twisting to the side and striking his rig cage repeatedly is the better move because not do you escape but you injure your attacker at the same time! Of course, your free hand should be pulling on his arm to reduce pressure on your neck! Obviously, the best thing is not to allow him to put a rear choke on you to start with! For the same reason that you don't run from an attacking predator because the mechanics of the human body don't allow you to effectively fight behind your back!

  • @rotorairgroup8409

    This is going to work 1 time out of 10. It has to be made before the attacker sets it up the choke because once he can get to a certain point there is no way out. If you notice the attacker has his right hand on his arm. If he pulls it up to his left shoulder for support then there is no way that anyone will pull that scape. The attacker will take your head home.

    • @JohnJohnson-pq4qz
      @JohnJohnson-pq4qz 3 месяца назад +4

      LOL...another "expert" who has never been in a real fight in his life...lol....and know more about jiu-jitsu then Rickson Gracie (who designed this method and taught it to Henry I believe). Its for a standing attack, with a standing attacker there is never a time that there is "no way out" because the defender can always move in some direction... what a joke. The attacker has to balance on two legs while applying the choke, he is not being supported by the ground and cant use his legs to hold the defender in place. How the hell is he going to move his hand up to his shoulder??? Unless he is what ? 10-12 inches taller than his victim? If he leans too far forward to try to tighten up the choke, then he is vulnerable to being thrown forward since he would be putting his weight against the defender's back.Standing rear chokes are not safe to apply unless you have completely unbalanced the defender and pulled him back first-which is not likely in street attacks. Train more, fantasize less.

      Try stepping big at 45 degrees backwards into horse stance, then in one motion elbow his solar plexus, slap his balls and then swing the arm behind yourself while turning into him. This stops him pulling you backwards off your feet and makes the space to turn, maybe even loosening his grip.

    • @mikebennett938
      @mikebennett938 11 месяцев назад +2

      This is a great question and I believe you are correct. If the choker gets it on quickly and cuts your air/blood supply before you can do anything it's game over. The other thing that isn't touched on here is the choker's poor form. Why would you put on a rear naked choke and not pull their opponent off balance? Also, why would the choker allow sufficient space for the opponent to turn in the first place? It is a cardinal rule of all grabbling, no space between partners! I think this is a great technique to 'try' if you are in strife, but like all techniques it isn't a karate kid crane technique, 'if do correctly, no can defence', hahahaha. There are no guarantees that any technique will work, but hey, if you are in a rear naked choke you are having a bad day all round, give it a shot.

    I really like that method!
    An alternative, if you do it real quick, is to raise the left hand under your opponent's nose and flip him backwards. It's a little dangerous, but it makes your opponent let go while you've still got him flipping backwards. It can damage the nose and the neck, or more of your opponent. You're welcome!

    Neck breaker. Moving your body with sufficient force to rotate yourself towards your opponent - who IS holding you with practiced RNC force (that's why you ask your partner to not do that in this video) - IS putting your cervical vertebrae at significant risk of injury. You are funneling the force/energy necessary to rotate your bodyweight against the friction of someone standing behind and against you all through the bones of your neck. If that person has a decent enough level of skill applying the RNC, your neck is NOT going to rotate with your rotating body. ... Pop!
    We did this one in class the other day. I recognized it as a practice move. Just to see, I put a little bit of squeeze on the RNC. There was no rotating of my partner's neck after the squeeze happened. I released pressure so there was no risk of injury and we just went through the motions to stay with the flow of the class.
    Would this move work at the onset of the RNC - before your opponent has locked it in? Sure. But, once the sub is locked in, quickly rotating your body against an immobilized joint of your body is a sure way to injure that joint. Whether that immobilized joint is you knee, your wrist, elbow, shoulder ... or neck.

    This move is covered in Gracie University women empowered program. It's called the "shoulder slip".

      Mma when they take the back most feet dont touch the ground. When standing defender get tired depends each situation

    Don’t let yourself get into that situation to begin with. Once he’s there, if he’s not a beginner, you’re screwed.

    If in a self-defense type of situation against a dude, giving their sackaroo a smash will increase the chances of escape.

    A well done mataleao choke gives you 5 seconds after that you are sleeping, those defense thecnics are un unreal.

    Very hard to escape this as you either get this put on you by a bouncer if your too intoxicated or by your mates doing a sneak attack ha ha laugh not, or you never get this hold applied to you and if they take you off your feet, your screwed
