    Not sure if you'll see this but it's worth a shot. When I drive my vehicle, for about the first 5 minutes on the road there seems to be a minor slip in my steering wheel when I turn it either direction. After driving it a bit, the steering seems to be normal and the slipping disappears. Very rarely when I drive on the interstate the steering wheel shakes, but like I said that rarely happens. Just had new tires put on less than 2 weeks ago, and had the same problem before and after the tire replacement.

    • @MrJustDIY
      @MrJustDIY  2 года назад

      This is another sign that the power steering is failing. Other causes of power steering failure apart from leakage include faulty pumps, worn steering rack mounts and loose or worn steering belts.

    • @MrJustDIY

    Hope you get this I have a question . My car does the wobble when u grab it from the sides on both front wheels also when I'm driving & I decelerate either manually by slightly releasing gas pedal or naturally like if I'm turning or going up hill it wobbles. So today I went to mechanic they told me it was the rack & pinion so I said I'll get back to them. My question is can that be the reason for the wobble? Reason I asked is because I looked up rack & pinion & the article I read 1 said it can cost up to $2000 for parts & labor but also it didnt mention nothing that that causes a wobble. So I Googled why does my tire wobble & it gave me the same reason as u that's when I found your video just to verify visual that it had the same issue & looks like it is what u said. But I'd theres a chance it could be rack & pinion I'd like know

    Thanks for the vid. I’m having a hard time with my wheel wiggle test. It only wiggles left and right and pops and clunks at the end of a full turn to the left or right but not when driving or when the front end is lifted with jack stands. There is no up and down play yet I see the ball joint moving, very confusing! Not sure if it’s really the ball joints or not. I don’t really see any other parts moving, even the strut mounts. I always thought that up and down movement with bad joints just made a squeaking sound. I’ve replaced the CV joints and axle and the sounds still persist. Do ball joints sound different in small and large vehicles? It’s a 2012 Ford Focus, front passenger side. Any ideas would be wonderful.

It's only noticable driving very slowly in carparks turning in and out of parking spaces. The CV joint is a flexible joint so some play in the shaft is OK, but there should be no play of the joint other than its intended movement.

      @@MrJustDIY - Cool, thanks! Mine moves about an inch or so, and all the other directions are solid. I'm trying to track down a click-click-click sound that is happening during my wheel revolution. I just hear it when I'm driving slow with my window open...

    I had a mechanic come shake my tires like that and it shook a lot like if your hands was at 1 and 7 and he said it’s a tie rod. But your video says otherwise.

      The rear doesn’t have ball joints or tie rod ends unless it has rear steering

    You moved the whole tire side to side but it's good ? Lol

    • @MrJustDIY

      That's because the steering wheel wasn't locked and the other tire was off the ground

    So my tire gose side to side not up and down which tire rod would it be then how do you tell that?

      And should you change both sides or just the bad which would you prefer

      Most of the time if one is bad the other ones isn't to far behind them on going bad.
