Nice diagnosis on the bent spindle but no info on ball joints or bearings. I had a boss/shop owner back in the late 70's where we worked exclusively on the Datsun Z cars who would have come unglued to see one of us mechs toss that hubcap face down on the concrete like that....oh the memories!
for worn wheel bearing you wiggle the wheel up and down then turn 90 degrees and wiggle again to see if it moves. This works in many cases but it's not 100%. Sometimes the bad bearing is solid. You have to listen for the noise as you turn the wheel. You will hear a grinding sound. Gets louder when driving. For ball joints no idea.
The title is very misleading, I came here looking for technical info and examples on how to test the ball joint and bearing to determine which part is causing it to fail the tyre shake test. Instead it was just loose bolts Nd a bent spind🤔
Hi Pete, I was wondering if you can give me some advice. I was in an accident in which a driver hit my front passenger bumper and wheel. I was making a right turn onto a side street. The person was going down the shoulder of the road attempting to pass me. I was told by the autobody shop I need a spindle. The car is a Nissan Sentra 2002 GXE 1.8 liter engine, no ABS. The car has only 11,000 miles--that's why I got it repaired. The problem is getting a spindle for it ,so that the mechanic can fix the wheel. Txs. Jim from Newburgh, N.Y.
I was looking for upper and lower ball joint, unloading and testing. What I found is a guy working on a Mustang with parts stamped with Made in China on them.. No wonder stuff is bent. LOL
I thought the same thing. It was ok when I put it away last year. How could it loosen after sitting for a few months and on a short trip? I've never seen it happen before either, I was surprised to see that. I have to find out why.
73 dollars to fill your tank...be glad it's not a diesel! If I had to fill an empty tank in my RAM 2500, it could cost me up to 165 dollars! That is madness, and you and I know who we have to thank for that....

So this had nothing to do with ball joints or wheel bearings.

I didn't find anything wrong with the ball joints. I should change them and make a video about them
Great show, looking forward to the FelPro episodes. All I use on my Jeep.
Fel Pro is really helping out a lot. The experts are giving me great information.
5$ in 1966 is 44.6$ today's money.
Wouldn't that be nice
You’re awesome man! Very knowledgeable and as always thank you for the time you put into making your videos!
I appreciate that!
So.....how do I check for worn ball joints or wheel bearings?

You right, I should change that
@@PetesGarage and a year later, you still haven't changed the title and guess it's back to searching on google since your title is still misleading
I'll change it just for you
@@PetesGaragedo you have one on bearings vs ball joints? I really wanted to learn about those and your explanation of problems is easy to understand.
How many of us would have just tightened up the wheel and went for a nice long drive on that full tank of gas?
I did that once last summer and it's loose again, bears figuring out why.
Thanks for the info, Pete!
You bet!
great job on the automotive side of things, a shame none of y’all in the comments understand how gas prices work
Thanks Atlas
Use a torque wrench on your lug nuts. 95 to 110 lb.ft. normally.
That's excellent info, thank you
Thanks my friend
Wuzzup Pete!!! Long time brotha!!!

When you hit the side of a wheel, lots of parts can get damaged and the spindle is one. The can get bent
What can I do with the problem of getting parts ?
Start looking in salvage yards
@@PetesGarage I did and they don't have it. Is the spindle connected to the knucle or is the spindle and knucle the same thing?
They can be 2 different parts.
why u have to replace the parts when its already fixed?
It happens sometimes
Tell felpro! I Need rear main seal 2 piece rubber gasket for an inline 6 200ci can't find it anymore! Don't want the rope seal.
I'll ask
I was looking for upper and lower ball joint, unloading and testing. What I found is a guy working on a Mustang with parts stamped with Made in China on them.. No wonder stuff is bent. LOL
I measured the parts and they were fine.
Was it as much loose lug nuts as bent flange?
I really don't know I'm going to take it all apart and measure everything to see
How could a lug nut come loose by just sitting over the winter? I've worked on and owned a lot of vehicles and never seen that happen.
My thoughts Also
I am guessing a squirrel at a tire shop with an impact gun bent the hub on re-install.
I thought the same thing. It was ok when I put it away last year. How could it loosen after sitting for a few months and on a short trip? I've never seen it happen before either, I was surprised to see that. I have to find out why.
$73 to fill the gas tank is cheap! down here in NZ it would be $185
Holy Lord that is insane!
Not gonna lie but at 6:40 mark it looked like when u pulled on it it was still wiggling then u said "hhmmm"... 🤔 hhmm indeed
It was interesting because it happened once last year and it was fine when I put it away. Now I had to find out why.
Hi, Pete!
Whassup WBIG!!!! I still don't have any plans

10 to 12 miles per gallon ?!!! my 69 383 roadrunner got more than that

Gas also costed 30 cents a gallon! Lol!
At 3:00 something wrong here....LOL China on the Drum at 12 o'clock.
Not necessarily, they were flat, I checked
Well your drum says 'CHINA' in the casting there's your first problem.
Not necessarily. The drum was flat, I measured. The spindle was actually bent somehow. I'm going to investigate and share when I find out why.
Quit buying cheap Chinese parts for your car
I measured the parts and they were ok
Dont forget to thank Democrat Voters for giving us the Higher Gas prices
California and south Korea have the same gas. It’s expensive because of the clean gas we use. Damn
Lets Go Brandon!!
Hopefully
I would be very wary of braking hardware with "CHINA" prominently labeled on it. Ignorance is bliss.
If only you could find out where it's made before you buy it
