- Today I'm showing you fine gents how to properly check and diagnose any front end issues including Ball joints, Tie rods and Wheel Bearings quick and easily on your pick up trucks. specifically I check the balls joints, tie rods and bearings on my own RAM 1500 truck. You want to make sure you support the lower controls arms when checking for ball joints play. this allows for any vertical movement to be easily detected. There is some play allowed with ball joints but usually once there is some wear or movement the life of the ball joint if going to be short. ideally there should be no detectable movement from either the ball joints or tie rod ends
MAKE sure you have a proper jack and jack stands before doing any lifting. I know I joke around but last thing you want is to drop your truck on the ground or on you. Anyways I hope the video was helpful and thanks for watching!

Thanks for keeping on subject and making a easy to follow video.
Great wee video. About to do the front springs and shocks on my 2010, then I thought...maybe it's the ball joints, lol. Probably both. Anyway, I'll do a video on it. Summer has arrived in Ontario!
Thank you sir! well if you are already in there might as well check and see if the ball joints need to be replaced
Straight to the point! Love it!
Wow this was really helpful thank you
How do you figure you kept the weight on the joint when you jacked the truck up?? The only weight there is the assembly. Ball joints do have up and down play normally, it’s side play that is bad. With side play does come excessive vertical movement so..
Nicely explain n your hilarious my man😂 subscribed 👌
lol thank you sir !
You dont get the play just from using handforce, our licensed inspectors in sweden use a small jackhammer to loosen up the dirt and crust around the tierod. Slightest wear will show.
Lots of greasable ball joints also fail because people put too much grease in and the boot bursts a hole. 2 or so pumps is all you need. And I wouldn't even do it every service unless u can see an obvious leak.
I had a squeakinging from control arm bushing. Had it changed now I have high speed vibration. Any idea what can be causing this?
i use a pry bar to check this on my jeep cherokee
There's no such thing as non greasable. You can always inject with a needle tip on your grease gun
thank you
What if you don't have a control arm? Like on 4x4???
The place I went failed me for front end play. I went into the garage for him to show me the play and he had the jack under my rocker with nothing under the control arm at all
‘ i hope they are cuz i don’t want to fix em,
i do get a wierd vibration when i drive past 50mph. i need to check my ball joints i'm 100% feeling that may be the issue
very well could be!
Or your tires are out of balance
Will that make a front shake when in 4x4 pushing on gas from start ? I thought were my tires but i got them re balanced and it's not the case cause when i push it from start in 4x2 I can't feel anything also it shakes barely but still noticeble when about 100..
Could be a couple things. If your front end it tight (no ball joint play, no tie rod play, no bearing plays etc.) check you front u-joints. if one is seized it will make the front end shake. could also be a one of your CV axles is broken.
@@TheGettyAdventures thanks man i started to check everywhere and found out the upper arm (ball joint) on the paasenger side is shot, it makes the whole lot of play from underneath the nut when moving the tire..that is cause of the 2.8 level i install a while ago i guess.. thanks again !
Are those 20 inch wheels & the big horn edition?
Yes and yes
@@TheGettyAdventures thank you! Love the truck vids and your channel. Keep the content coming.
@@lyleperry9824 thank you sir! always makes me happy hearing that
I have a leak around that area on the driver side , what could it be?
Looks like its a rear differential leaks
Please use a better jack
Stopped listening to you when you used Jesus as a curse word. Have respect
Jesus is a very common name, maybe he was saying hello to his friend Jesus Murphy
How can Jesus be a curse word? Shouting "Jesus, mercy!" when you're cold, or shouting "Jesus!" when you slap someone across their face to heal them... I thought Jesus was always there to save the day? Guess he doesn't exist either.
