    Does the government force car manufacturers to produce cars only capable of 55mph? Freedom is inherently dangerous plus speed limits were never about safety but rather revenue. I want the freedom to choose between obeying the rules or living outside them, otherwise how would we even know what freedom is?
    Additionally I need to be able to out run any law enforcement that may seek to restrain me from my pursuit of happiness.

      Well actually, vehicle are often governed. Additionally, most transportation laws aren't designed to keep your dumb ass safe. They are designed to protect people from your people like you. Those willing to run from the police and risk other's well being in your pursuit of "freedom". People like you are the exact reason we will never truly be free.

      @@saltwaterrook4638 I just happen to be my people like me and as a people I too demand some of this protection you speak of. They can just protect me at higher speeds than other users of the public ways.
      That was a bit tongue n' cheek, fleeing from the law in pursuit of happiness is only advisable if they're coming after yourself specifically and not just for fun or afterschool pastime' Particularly when my constitutional rights are in question. Something I believe is every Americans sacred duty lest we spiral further into the Home of the incarcerated, land of the police state.

    This video is like so many other e-bike videos. It mixes up widely varying prices and motor powers, in no particular order. That makes it difficult for the viewer. It also randomly mixes up metric and British specs. How about a video that groups bikes to price ranges, or motor power ranges? Or perhaps a video that orders the bikes by price, or by motor power? Also, this video randomly mixes street bikes and off road bikes. It is a pretty good bet that a buyer wants either one or the other.

However, to answer your question, I would say up to 28 or 3oMph max is more than enough to get you where you need to be especially if riding in the City. Countryside, offroad, highway and mountain etc... that is a totally different story and 'perhaps' you could go for a higher speed which is fair enough. Having said that I must say, I was super pleased with the above-mentioned speed that based on my personal experience.

    Quite a lot of people seem to be complaining about the price of these e-bikes: they are not standard bikes at all, but more of a technology demonstrator. It is like buying a Bugatti Veyron - zero use in daily life as you won't be allowed to use even 1/3 of its potential anywhere on public roads without losing your driving licence, but some people who have crap load of money will still buy one. The technology used in these machines will then be applied in the production of mainstream bikes which means we will have better and more reliable e-bikes. In the near future all motorcycles will also be powered by batteries and these e-bikes are making sure combustion engines retire to the museums sooner than later.

    • @automotiveterritory

      Yes, you understand the situation perfectly. These are the Bugattis or Ferraris of the electric bicycle world. Like not everyone needs or can afford a Ferrari, let alone a Bugatti, not everyone will need to have such a powerful bicycle, especially when there are humbler options out there.

IE a car will stall but if a bike goes over the wheel can keep spinning at whatever speed. With a normal throttle at least you are on tickover.

By creating such products, the manufacturers try to show the level at which the current technology is. I highly doubt that there will be a lot of people, who'd enjoy riding a bicycle at over 70 mph. At the same time there are lots of people, who'd enjoy bicycles with slightly humbler performance, pedal assist feature and a longer range. With the rise of electric motorcyes and electric bicycles the line is getting blurred. What makes the difference between the two? Pedals? Some of the electric bicycles don't even have any, weight just as much go just as fast and cost even more. So much power and speed in such small light frames for sure opens the doors to new technologies and improvements but it is also more dangerous. Use at your own risk. It will not be too long until that will get more regulated too sadly. But those vehicles that come in different shape, sizes and purposes can be very useful in many other applications as well. Being light weight and capable to be charged off of solar could solve many problems like city traffic, emergency back up transportation that can be stored in a bigger vehicle in case of failure (motorhome, bus, boat, trunk of a car, people with disabilities , etc) or just for fun. Regulate all that. Good luck. To have pedals with possible pedal assist can be good for exercise too and for older people as well. It could be motivation for the obese to get some exercise and have fun at the same time. Definitely more than seating in a car or on a motorcycle. Being electric would also help diminish pollution. Look at how successful the "bird" has become. To cover distances too long to go on foot but too short to use a car with the benefit of some exercise included it can be a life-saver. This electric vehicle revolution from cars to bicycles is in a way a blessing and if too many regulations are slapped on it that could discourage progress, it should be left alone to grow to its potential.

    I think with the rise of LEPVs we’re going to see a push to up the legal speed for unregistered rides. I graphed the speed-gradient relationships for different powers of motor at an assumed mass and the simple truth is the legal limit of 250W is way too low for any sensible ride if you live in a hilly area. Many people use 1kW motors and just stick to the speed regs and are completely safe but it makes going up hills a lot easier.

Just like anything else ,they set rules for those that should not be on a bike in the first place, and it is all i heard on this video about how speed is unsafe , i wish people would understand if you don't want a fast bike then don't buy one that is fast ,but don't take away the right's for those that can ride , hell i can run 17 mph maybe no one should run , i raced motorcycles and own one for the street a HD 1390 cc that i have got it up to 145 mph but i did it in a place that i could do it safely , and if i want a ELECTRIC bike that goes 60 plus mph i should have that right, just obey the speed laws and know when and were to ride that fast ,NEXT TIME YOU MAKE A VIDEO MAKE IT FOR THOSE THAT KNOW HOW TO RIDE,GET IT ,and i have owned a electric bike now for 14 years, i have a video on here from years ago about fixing the back tire on a electric bike, i am going to buy another one that goes over 60 plus mph and i am looking at the electric motorcycle too,

But if it's hot out and I had to go somewhere nice...I'd show up all sweaty and nasty ..not anymore. If I get home from work and I'm exhausted but need to go up to the store there's no car to hop in... But my ebike breezes me where I need to go. I'm also 54 with high cholesterol so I'm not looking to overdo it if Im running late and keel over in the middle of the road. All electric bicycles should have a top speed of 40 miles per hour for safety reasons. Never less. I've ridden all types of bikes for over 40 years and the one thing I've noticed is that having the speed when needed is key to safety. Granted, there are speed demons 😈 of all sorts and types, but having that speed when it counts is crucial. I know how to ride safely. Accidents happen not because of speed but because of carelessness, stupidity and youth (let's be honest). So no 20 miles per hour limit for a bicycle is not favorable for anyone unless they design a road for bicycles only, or all vehicles to be limited to 20 miles per hour 🤔...

The highest priced one at $14500? I've bought cars for $2500 and less, and got more than 10 years of reliable usage out of them! The most I've ever paid for a motorcycle was $3800....and that was for a 2 year old 750cc Kawasaki!
      You can easily purchase a new moped or scooter for $1500 , so I'm not seeing any value here. I'll have to say, they're cool looking, and pretty impressive. ...but outrageously priced. I'm not a rich guy.....but if I'm putting out that kind of cash for a vehicle , then I would have to be able to use it on a daily basis, regardless of weather. Can't do that with a bicycle or motorcycle bro, there's things called rain, snow, high winds....etc.

      The thing is that getting a used or new gas motorcycle is not an alternative in this situation. Electric bicycles are zero emission, so they can be ridden in cities (especially those cities that are currently planning to ban any ICE vehicles). So in the nearest future the only option for such cities (or certain parts of the city) would be walking or getting an emission free vehicle.

    • @Impalaman1968
      @Impalaman1968 6 лет назад +2

      Automotive Territory: Trending News & Car Reviews ,
      In America, there would be a civil revolution if ANY City or Municipality attempted to ban I.C.E. vehicles! Not to mention that the State government wouldn't allow that anyway, due to the massive loss of revenue for tags, title, and registrations!
      This is why we have emissions testing that is done on a
      bi-annual basis. If the vehicle tests "Dirty" ....you will have to repair it, and be retested, or your registration will be suspended. The comparison to an I.C.E. bike or car was a point of reference to the pricing, not the zero emissions factor.
      But I understand your point!
      Cheers!

      The legislation won't be universal and I don't see laws that will apply to all cities in the near future. In 2014, autobahns carried 31% of motorized road traffic while accounting for 11% of Germany's traffic deaths. The autobahn fatality rate of 1.6 deaths per billion travel-kilometres compared favorably with the 4.6 rate on urban streets and 6.5 rate on rural roads.
      Cheers!

    Keep building fast but lighter bikes. Titanium would be a good option

    The only reason for the restrictions on speed is the auto makers have a genuine fear of any motorized transportation powered with electricity. Both auto and motorcycle industries are pushing the limits to pack as much horsepower as they can into the frame but as soon as an electric bike travels over 25mph then there has to be limits.

      This issue has to be addressed. Electric vehicles deserve more attention.

      Randy Seelbach What? So you think that the auto industry is afraid that an e-bike is going to take the place of an automobile? Hey honey, load the kids on the bike, we're going shopping.

    • @randyseelbach2302

      Blueknight, I have no idea where you live but here in Europe the e-bike stands a chance of replacing at least a forth of the cars used for commuting to work. I don't care what country you live in, if you stand at a stop light at eight o'clock in the morning and observe the cars you would notice that about 90 percent of the cars have only one person in that car. It is not filled with kids going shopping. There are already companies here in Germany that are leasing e-bikes for the employees to commute to work. So yes, I do think that the auto industry has a genuine fear of the number of cars that will be replaced by e-bikes.

      Here in Europe the e-bike stands a chance of replacing at least a forth of the cars used for commuting to work. Really? What about during inclement weather like heavy rain,snow, very cold, freezing rain just to name a few? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against e-bikes, but they are more of a fair weather type of transportation.

    Yes I think the electric bike faster the better. To go 10mph is very boring. As long you have experience with fast electric bikes it's fine. Is a great feeling no wing that you have power. It also can get you out of trouble on the roads. The only problem with fast electric bike prices. They are making far to much profit. It doesn't give a person who really likes electric bike a chance to buy. It's just the case of hoping you can come in to sum money to buy. The other option is buy a kit wch some are faster and half the price. Personally I would prefer a electric bike than a motor car. I hope electric bikes are the future. Plarese bring prises down. The cheaper the bike the more you sell hence more profit

    just saying I can hit 30 mph on my 1 speed bmx bike. It takes a lot out of me tho. My max so far is 32 mph on a slight down hill.

      Must be spending a lot of energy on pedaling. How long can you last for?

    • @zerobrownies399
      @zerobrownies399 6 лет назад +1

      I've not timed it but less than 10 sec for sure. I can almost maintain 25 mph. I weigh 212lb so that is a lot of torque. The main reason I can go fast is that my front sprocket is 32T and my back is 9T. But all that aside it's not possible for me to compete with these Ebikes.

      Stay in great shape and electric bikes will always be there for you in case you need to relax. I believe you do tricks on your BMX? No ebikes are ready for that yet, electric equipment is too fragile

    Power is up to 10kW, Topspeed over 60MPH and a Range of about 60 miles.

    • @SH1974
      @SH1974 6 лет назад +1

      I don't know many manufacturers, but I'm thinking about buying an E-Bike and have seen the swiss manufacturer B2G, whoms "Red RSR" surely belongs in this list. If I buy an E-Bike, it will not be that radical, but more than 500W and more than 25kph is a must.
      The "Blue XTR Speciale 3.1" by B2G (2800W / 65kph / 96Nm) would be nice, but te B2G bikes are not the cheapest... ;)
      (Btw: If You like Fat-E-bikes, they've got one with insane 160Nm of torque!)

      While it may be technically possible to pump even more power to these bicycles, I don't think that they would be safe. We are talking motorcycle speeds already. As for the price, yes they could be a bit more affordable.

    With non naked bikes does the chain rust if don't oil it, sorry for my lack of knowledge I'm 13 turning 14 so I'm mot old enough to get a license

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  6 лет назад

      Thank you for your comment and passion about bikes! Yes, the chain will eventually rust if it is not regularly cleaned, oiled properly, and if the bike is not stored under fairly dry conditions. There are plenty of electric bicycles that do not require a license, we will feature the most affordable models in the future episodes, stay tuned!

    in not so fr away future, when ebikes will be on daily basis, then ebike stunt and ebike champions will appear. Now we need cheeepeeeer batteries:))

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  6 лет назад

      we are with you on this one. Cheaper batteries will simply crumble the ICE engines and become a lightyear leap into the future. Which is your favorite most advanced bike from the lineup?

    • @RaptorFPV
      @RaptorFPV 6 лет назад +1

      Not cheaper batteries, we need a new technology for batteries, LiPo is pretty top notch now, but still shitty. Slow to charge, has danger of fire (but we can put that on the side) and "bad" energy density.
      It´s realy top notch, respect, love, kisses and whatever, but still shitty.
      Save, little fusion reactors would be the overkill. Run your vehicle 50 Years on one charge, think about that ;-)
      Or transmitt electricity from the atmosphere to the ground, a lightning could power Las Vegas for at least a year.
      Just some ideas...

    • @automotiveterritory
      @automotiveterritory  6 лет назад

      Appreciate the comment. As much as I would love to have fusion powered cars, that concept would be to costly, easier and chaeper to make large reactors and distribute power. As for the lightning harvesting, I have to disagree with you here. Lightning bolts are much less powerful than you think and harvesting them will be economically ineffective. Check out this wikipedia article en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvesting_lightning_energy

    I don’t think it should be any regulator’s business limiting anything. The item should be what the customer wants. There are laws in place everywhere, and it’s the regulator’s business to enforce the laws. Beyond that, they should stay out of the way or stop being hypocrites about not limiting every vehicles top end when destined for the public roadways.
