If you check Song of Women out, do pay attention to the Sygyt whistles-style going on near the middle and end of the song, still the most elusive style for me as an informal student, some days I have it and some I don't....but if the human soul has a sound....it is unequivocally that.
Yes, I'm not the greatest fan of the collaboration with Jackoby Shaddix, as it seemed too skewed to him, with them backing him... on their own song. But the collaborations with Lzzy Hale, and From Ashes to New are both true collaborations. Other Mongolian singers.. Tengger/Tengri (Heaven😢) and Ayunga/Ayanga (Big brother). 😢
Their song "Yuuve Yuuve Yu" is great too. A higher tempo beat, makes you want to dance. They also did a song for the soundtrack of Star Wars: Fallen Order called "Sugaan Essena" that is a really good one. You can tell why they picked these guys for a scifi game soundtrack, they sound almost otherworldly.
Love this band. There's something that is so primal to their music that just grabs me by the guts. Their first album is good, but man their second album is absolute fire! No sophomore slump for these guys.

This is when they got NOTICED and went viral. They are totally professional level and have continued to improve in music and their production. They did an OST for one of the biggest Star Wars video games. They have also covered Metallica's song, Sad But True, but The Hu translated the lyrics to Mongolian. The cover has a sound somewhat like Wolf Totem because they kept their traditional instruments in it as well as singing in their own language. Metallica had only the highest praise for the cover these guys made. It's truly an amazing song and then The Hu made a FANTASTIC Music Video for it that tells a different story than the original MV told.

Lovely seeing someone else's appreciation of it, especially when my friends could not at all appreciate it . BTW I hope you've seen the rest of their videos, they have become one of my favorites to listen to.
The Hu are amazing, their music really hits a strange, almost "primal" button in the soul that feels like it tethers us all together in a powerful, ancient art. Really, I think throat singing can be beautiful or powerful depending on how it's done, and I really love when others have an appreciation for it. It blows my mind when people think it's ugly or if they mock it, I'm so glad you were just so taken by the song you had to go back entirely and hear the beginning again!
I too loved this for the sheer originality of the sound. I looked at those bikers bopping away in the backround and thought "O yeah, they're Ghengis Khans home boys ! "
part of what's especially interesting to me is the ability to switch into it so seamlessly. since kargyraa (the style he's using here) requires a fairly specific tongue position in the back of your mouth (as far as I understand it anyway - there may be multiple methods. that's how I do it), some sounds like /k/ or /t/ are either impossible or require an immense amount of tongue control. to sing actual lyrics and immediately fall back into throat singing AND hit the right note with both the voice and the overtone is extremely impressive. clearly years and years and years of practice there.

This is the best type of reaction. Honest, succinct, and it allows the song to be the star. Thank you. I've been a Hu fan for a few years. I've taken my sons to see them 3 times and we are going again in September. Hu are truly an experience. They are different studio to acoustic to live and it's amazing.
The Hu are amazing. This song is off their first album, "The Gereg", which is great. And their second album "Rumble Of Thunder" is even better! "This Is Mongol" and "Black Thunder" have several good live videos on RUclips, and usually get a good crowd response. "Shireg Shireg" and "Mother Nature" are two of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard by any artist, and also tend to sound good when performed live.
Been a massive fan of these guys for years and finally got to see them live with Megadeth a few months back. Was one of the best concerts I've been to. Let's not forget that The Hu also created a language for the song they did for the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order game.

As a professional warrior and amateur historian, I'm reminded that once upon a time, in many parts of the world, when someone in the village screamed "the Mongols are coming!"...this is who (HU) they were talking about... And, as a lifelong biker, I deeply embrace this! I love your reactions and look forward to watching as you continue to enjoy your journey! rl 🤘👹🤘
The first time I ever heard The Hu was live at a 5 finger death punch concert and my wife and just looked at each other and said, "Holy shit. These guys are fucking awesome."
The beauty is in watching your authentic reaction; you're not trying to get attention or over-animating to show the audience your reaction (it's really distasteful watching other people's reaction videos--literally, my dinner crawl up my throat🤮) And your honest confession that you've done enough research gains you credibility. Thank YOU. Some of the short descriptions were en-point, and truly--less is much much more.
I love how this song makes it sound like there's 50 people in the band, from all the instruments being played to all the layered vocals giving the impression of more singers.
I just figured it out!! I love them because they are so intense. It just draws you in and makes you feel there music. Yes it makes you want to be Mongolian and just join there tribe. 💞
Good morning if I recall correctly the ladies from Nytt Land have tutorials on their youtube channel. They are a fantastic nordic/siberian folk metal band.
"Throat singing" or overtone singing is fascinating to listen to . Experiencing it live is mind blowing , when done right you can feel the sound even without amplification .
You might want to also check out Heilung. There a Scandinavian Folk group that also dabbles in throat singing. So all of their songs are of norse culture. In fact they do have a live performance of their song “In Maijan” that you would have fun breaking down.
Great reaction!! Love The Hu!! If you like the throat singing another band to check out is Otyken. I would suggest their songs, Storm, Genesis, or Legends to start.

I worked at a music venue and was asked to work the show because they sold more tickets the day of the show. Had never heard of them, fell in love with them. Have seen them in an outdoor venue since - and that was even better. They are dynamic live. I have not heard a bad song yet.
Love the Hu - that throat singing and those traditional instruments with metal works so well.
I saw these guys LIVE! They opened for Megadeth and Five Finger Death Punch. Fantastic performance by the Hu for sure
They're also amazing live on stage. I heard them first when they were part of a Star Wars game music. I've loved this music for a few years
LOVE FROM ICELAND
Your face was so expressive. You looked so surprised. Loved your reaction.
Mongolian Throat Singing is so amazing, rock on!!!! MELODY of Liliac does Mongolian Throat Singing in their song Vertigo, live, she is unbelievable, so is the Hu!!!!
If you get the chance, see them live. They're amazing. There's a droning, hypnotic quality that just gets into your blood at the same time you want to head bang cuz it's still metal AF.
So many of my layers are provoked -
Metalhead at my core, I LOVE THIS!

🤘👹🤘
Live performance recommendation i dont have now unfortunately. But this June (2023) they have a gig in France, hellfest.
I’m amazed with them! Love the instruments they play. I will see them in concert.
I was lucky enough to see the Hu live a couple of months ago. They are absolutely awesome - if you have the chance to see them live, do it
I saw them LIVE, Blew me away!
The first time I ever heard The Hu was live at a 5 finger death punch concert and my wife and just looked at each other and said, "Holy shit. These guys are fucking awesome."
I absolutely love The Hu. Thank you so much for the reaction and your insights.
Music makes us happy even though we are not the same country
A treat for the future - The Hu ft Lzzy Hale. Don't even need the title. Won't be live but still an amazing performance.
The expression of shock when the vocals start :)
Yes, his harmonics are great! Love listening to this! Your initial reaction was priceless!
I love how this song makes it sound like there's 50 people in the band, from all the instruments being played to all the layered vocals giving the impression of more singers.
love this band i really enjoyed your feedback
Good choice 👍 I just came across these guys on RUclips. That beat goes deep into the soul 🤗My new favorite band💯
💚🖤 love your facial expressions when you're really getting into it. haha super cute and fun!
Bethany, I really liked watching your facial expressions.
I just figured it out!! I love them because they are so intense. It just draws you in and makes you feel there music. Yes it makes you want to be Mongolian and just join there tribe. 💞
I love the look on your face the first 3 minutes, like all the rest of us the first time we heard them
I had never heard of this group until this past Wednesday when I saw them in Tacoma opening for Iron Maiden. I was blown away and now I want more!
Good morning if I recall correctly the ladies from Nytt Land have tutorials on their youtube channel. They are a fantastic nordic/siberian folk metal band.
Honest reaction, thank you so much!
