She herself is an icon. There are so much to be asked about her craft. I dont understand why the questions are always directed at 'what were your experiences working with actor A /actor B. You mean there is no questions to be asked about her acievements or her dance prowess? This happens with all the actresses and heroines. Like though they are so insignificant and their biggest achivement was to share a screen space with a hero!!
Absolutely! I opened the comment section specifically to say this comment and found it's already been said. Interviewers haven't done any homework about the artist. I think the interview wouldn't have been any better had they interviewed Sivaji Ganesan himself.
Wonder if they asked the same to those legendary actors.

Padmini was born and raised in Trivandrum (present-day Thiruvananthapuram), in what was then the princely state of Travancore (now the Indian state of Kerala). She was the second daughter of Sree Thankappan Pillai and Saraswathi Amma. Her sisters Lalitha and Ragini, were also well known film actresses. Together, the three were known as the Travancore sisters. Padmini and her sisters learnt Bharathanatyam from Thiruvidaimarudur Mahalingam Pillai. The trio were the disciples of Indian dancer Guru Gopinath. They learnt Kathakali and Kerala Natanam styles of dancing from him. N.S. Krishnan noticed her talents while she was presenting Parijatha Pushpapaharanam in Trivandrum. After that performance, he said that in the future she would become an actress. She was thus cast as heroine in his own production Manamagal.
The Travancore Sisters grew up in a joint family tharavadu in Poojappura, Trivandrum. Their mother was Karthiyayini Amma, whose husband was P.K. Pillai (Palakunnathu Krishna Pillai of Cherthala) alias "Penang Padmanabha Pillai". P.K. Pillai had six sons, of whom Satyapalan Nair, the youngest, was a leading producer of many early Malayalam films. They performed at the 1955 Filmfare Awards. Padmini was a leading actress and one of the highest-paid actresses of the 50's, 60's and 70's.She is also known as one of the charming beauty queens of the 50's and 60's. She was given the title "Natya Peroli" in Tamil Nadu because of her excellent Bharatnatyam performances in Tamil films. Her Tamil movie Thillana Mohanambal, is a cult classic of Tamil cinema and continues to be remembered even today. Her beautiful performance in Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai was outstanding and made her a national star.

AL. Srinivasan, my father in law, ( elder brother of Kavignar Kannadasan )was the producer of the film 'Panam'... Released under the banner Madras Pictures on 1952.. Nadigar Thilagam& Padmini ma were paired for the first time in the silver screen....👍

My favorite pair. Siivaji -Padmini. They fulfilled by acting in 50+ films what they missed in real life.
MGR is a good pair with Padmini. He is more handsome than Sivaji but I do not know why Padmini likes Sivaji. Sivaji put on a massive weight but MGR always slim, good looking and fit.
@@gunamutaya1977 All the three Tamil heroes are handsome. But Sivaji is more manly among them. Sivakumar, actor and drawing master has stated that Sivaji's face is an ideal photogenic face. Gemini has a childish touch. MGR is a bit feminine. His fair skin is his main attraction.
Sivaji put on weight only between 1961-64. Moreover he is 11 yrs younger than Mgr.

I m trained classical dancer, the one and only reason is because of puppy ma. I was devastated when I heard about her death because meeting her in a person was in my bucket list. But later she appeared in my dream and called me “ sakkara kattay”. To be honest it was my 1st time someone called me like that.

I remember the interview she did, she said she was an artist and that these types of scenes were necessary towards the emotions and imagery of the movie... they were by vulgar to those older, more conservative audiences...
