Hey, I just wanted to say thank you! I have been following your videos to install a new head unit and also replace the old Subwoofer on my 2006 Forester, you are the only reliable source on RUclips for this type of stuff. Many thanks, for real!!

Thank you very much for the vid!!! This is very detailed and spot on for the setup. I've just finished putting a 10" sub back there and had to go through most of what you went through. A few things to add that I found along my way :
Pretty much any 10" sub will stick out against the carpet unless you get some flat type.
Also I had to mount the wooden plate In front of the metal opening because the sub ends up touching the body in the back.
I suggest for anyone else trying this, to try get a flat-ish sub. Saves having to cut the carpet.

I love all your videos! My trunk sub has never worked since buying the car and ive been thinking about wiring up a new sub like this too it but never sure about the logistics. Youve done a fantastic job visualizing the process and i only have one suggestion. Your 12v line fuse can be mounted to the fuse box cover and then ran behind and under the windshield reservoir. Just a suggestion :). Love the setup it looks great!

Awesome dude! I like what you did. You kind of winged it but it worked for you and seeing what you did with your set up gave me some ideas on how I'm going to approach my audio setup. Thank you bro! 👍

You should put a link in the description for the other video showing how you took the rear panel off. I cant find it on your page

In the double din install, was there no way to use the stock sub, for those of us not wanting to upgrade as you did? I saw you tuck the sub connector away, but can it not be used?

    • @JRobling
      @JRobling  2 года назад +1

Nope, the stock sub would not get any power, that is why i replaced it with a powered unit

@@JRobling sucks. Would’ve been nice to able to keep/use it still. I’m still going to swap out the radio to the Atoto, so thanks for that!

Nice video. I am curious how it sounds and if it causes a lot of annoying vibration sounds from the unibody

Hey Dude! One question I got...
What size/type are those black screws, that keep this stock metal (light gray) bracket with 6x9 speaker inside?

Very nice! Much easier build than trying to fab up a fiberglass enclosure for that space.
I'm going to take it one step simpler and expand the stock sub plate to accept a 250wrms 8" shallow subwoofer,
power it off of a 500w amp connected to the 12v rear outlet, with signal and sensing from the original sub audio cables.
Theoretically and electronically it should work the same. The little amp doesn't draw much power and the sub doesn't need much power.
If it doesn't, I'll do exactly as you've done and run power from the front to the rear and go up to a 10" sub.
With the Harman-Kardon system in my 2021 I don't really need much more bass, just more punch...the amped 8" should be more than enough.

In the world of car audio it is never enough. It will sound great until you get used to it then you will want more. I used to run 4 12s in my hatchback T/A in the 90s. I even had an escort hatchback with 4 12s and 2 10s at one point 🤣. Now I just stay stock otherwise I'm will have to keep upgrading...

Its pretty obvious why he didn't, it would vibrate and rattle so hard against that carpet. I have done the exact same on mine but I did a few things differently and managed to keep the factory mesh with a 10" sub and it goes hard and doesn't slap against the carpet.
