Thanks for the tutorial. Turned our really well! Just a couple of suggestions for those looking at doing something similar... I'd recommend doing all of the body fitting, trimming, hole reaming, etc, prior to painting. This will give you less chance of damaging the paint job. I'd also recommend using a better quality of masking tape to prevent bleed through. There are better tapes available form the hobby marketplace than standard hardware store grade tapes. Not a knock on your technique or video, just a couple of suggestions that others may benefit from... :-)
Hey man that's a great job. I personally didn't like the red but that's personal. I say that only because you did such a great job with the black into the purple! That is awesome!!! I like the way you did it though. Very good job thanks for the video.....
Wow, the more I see of your older videos, the more I find things that are relevant to me today. I'm looking at that exact baja bug body, now. I know 7 years is a long time, but do you remember how it held up durability-wise? I've experienced that kind of paint bleed in grooves, as well, and the problem seems to be that traditional masking tapes do not stretch, so even after you press them down, they lift back up by the time it's sprayed. Have you found a better conforming tape since this video?
It came out great. I'm looking to paint a beetle body for a 1/10 (or more like 1/8) Summit. Do you (or anyone else) know if this body fits the big Summit?
Use car pinstripe it will look awesome and u can make turns with it too but overall it looks very nice anyways it will get scratches on the first run lol take your pics now lol
Do you have the LCG chassis on your slash? I test fitted one of these bodies at the track the other day. And it rested on the nerf bars way before even hitting the body posts on my hcg 2wd slash.
In my experience you can go fairly quick if you do light coats in warm/hot and dry weather. Adding coats of same colour I wait maybe 10 minutes in those conditions. Longer between colours where you need to remove maskings. I'm no expert, google some other opinions too.

Your mistake is to use regular masking tape, buy something better, esp that sticks well to lexan. Boom, no bleed

Yes my slash is LCG
is good for 1/8 scale body
Hey I'm painting a Baja bug too, I was just wondering since it's my first paint job, how long should I let the body dry in between coats of paint?

Hey, do you know if this body fits the Traxxas Fiesta?
Fiesta is based on same chassis as Slash4x4, so yes, but you need to change the body mounts to proline adjustable. I had to do that too.
Netcruzer RC TECH CARS Thank you sir! Ordered both!
Does the window mask go on the inside
CJ Wiggins yes, all masking goes on the inside.
