A perfect class on how to paint Rich! I have a Tekno MT 410, with a Baja VW Beetle body from Pro-Line. Army Green with a holographic chrome engine and American Military Star on the sides and roof. I didn't back the chrome with black instead choosing to back it with the green. I'm so happy I did. The chrome looks so good with a holographic green hue it just came up better than I hoped. First drive on the weekend and on 4S it was crazy fast, the whole car was so impressive. As you know I love my Tekno products, it just wanted to wheelie with the slightest bit of power and then settled on all four wheels. I don't think I got much past half throttle. Amazing MT. Now I have the Pro-Line Rat Rod body that I'm going to paint up, purple backed with gold, some black detailing and the holographic chrome for the engine bay and exhaust pipes. But if I knew how great the Raptor body looked earlier I'd almost be driving around with one on as well. Great work Rich, always learning something and inspired by your finished products.
Right on! It's beautiful! Thank you for this video - much appreciated I have a Baja Bug for my vintage RC 10 and I have a Proline 1966 Ford Truck for my T Maxx... Now it's time for me to get to work! Thanks again. These kind of videos really help!
That blue is probably my favorite color they make. back it with a black paint and it gets so deep. On my TLR 22 I backed it with the Pearl white and it looks amazing.

Great paint job Rich I'm getting a Axial Yeti Score rtr and putting a Jconsepts Chevy Silverado 1500 Trophy Truck body on it and I want to 2 tone it with white on the front half and the black you used on th back half with a sky blue/silver zigzag stripe to separate it will take 2 stages of removing the stripe masking cause the silver will be between 2 blue stripes thanks for sharing your skills 👍
The RCNetwork oh I will I have a Ford buddy that will put the rapter body on his yeti he wants a green one and I'm a chevy guy so that takes care of that 👍
I understand that you were specifically using Pactra paints with this body, but in case you didn't know Tamiya has a better choice for the flat sections. I've used Tamiya Polycarbonate PS-55 Flat Clear TAM86055 on many bodies and it works great! : ) Keep up the good work, Jason
Awesome! Just Awesome! I love your channel. Very satisfying to watch you work. You also give so many great and useful tips that anyone can grasp, weather a beginner or an experienced hobbyist. Thank you and keep the knowledge coming.
I feel like an idiot, the whole time I'm wondering why you're painting the INSIDE of the car, not realizing that it's clear and thus, it can't get the paint scratched when it inevitably flips over, if the color is on the inside. Lol, I'm a dumbass. Very interesting final product - it looks great!
What truck are you putting this on? Would that body fit on an axial deadbolt? I think the deadbolt has a 12 inch wheelbase, would a 12.3 be ok? Thanks! AMAZING VIDEO!
The truck looks sick 🔥 , I wish I looked at this vid before I painted my Baja 5t vw body , I did things backwards I painted the outside not the inside and I scuffed the body with sandpaper so the spray paint can stick to it more better
@@TheRCNetwork ......it looks pretty good the way how I did it even tho I painted it on the outside a 2 tone color red on the bottom and white on the top half , I'm not a basher like all the other baja 5t owners doin crazy jumps and flipping it , the paint job I did should last long and I clear coated it twice so it has a real good shine to it
If you are doing 3 colors, blue, white, and black, how many cans of each paint do you need to put on enough? Is one can of each enough? How long do you wait between coats? Do you have to cut out the decals or are they precut? Thanks!
Another great video, thanks again, always a pleasure to watch your very easy to understand and well layed out vids. Would have liked to see you spray the windows, guessing from another of your videos you used tamiya smoke? 1 light coat? A lot of people on forums seem to have difficulties with the windows. Depends on how you want the orange to look, but I’d paint the black first and then the orange last. I’d back the orange with white to make it “pop” more. If you paint the black over the orange, it can turn it darker.
Great video to get me going with my first paint. With four colors of Green, Dark Green, Silver and white. Thinking paint silver after dark green but as a Fresh coat before white. Would this be correct?
The last colors you want to paint are silver and white. Anytime you put a dark color over a lighter color, it will darken that color. It sounds like you have the right order though

Yeah, I can't agree more! I wouldn't doubt it, especially in CA where I'm from. I know that I've had issues in the past with prep, but I've refined my skills. Hello! After painting my R/C Body, could I coat it inside with rubberized Flex Seal? If it does not react adversely with the paint, it might give the lexan more impact resistance. Just a thought.
I've got a tip, I see you have small tape bleeding. I'd take your clear mat and spray your tape lines before you put the first of the main coats it should help seal the tape a little better and it being mat it works like a primer!!! Ralph
Brandon Meyer I would probably do the brown bed first. Take off the portion you want Blue, and paint the brown. Take off the tape and shoot the entire body blue

I got a clear JConcepts Finnisher body and will be going with Blue and Silver colors from Tamiya and using Bittydesign for my Liquid Mask!! Any pointers?
I'm planning on painting a lexan body with Pactra Firey Orange with a outlaw black roof and hood. Can I back the firey Orange with the black paint or should I use another color as a backing?
Black will turn the orange a slightly darker color....like a burnt orange. I would personally use Indy Silver to back the orange....My HB Racing E817 had that orange and a silver backer: ruclips.net/video/2LcHM3VExtM/видео.html
I painted the raptor truescale body for my slash 2WD. It is metallic blue with metallic gray bumpers, wheel arches, and side skirts. It looked great when it was done. Now it's a little busted. (Basher truck) 😂😭😭😂
Thanks for the series. So far as process, after you painted the internal white, did you remove the window masking and sprayed the shell in Tamiya Smoke paint?
Glad to help! After I painted all of the colors, I peeled the window masks and sprayed the Tamiya Smoke (window tint). Many, many very this layers is the key for this one...it will distort really quick if the layers are too thick. you do have to be careful of any white sections, as the Smoke could turn that darker. Then peel the overspray layer
The RCNetwork legend thanks buddy! Great work on this. I’m planning to do the same but with black \ Firey orange and reverse the diagonal stripe the other way 👍🏼 awesome content, really useful stuff my man!
The RCNetwork Dude, thanks for the tips man! Really helped. I used the Pactra outlaw black, sprint white & went for fiery orange where you did the blue. Wow what a result. Do you know the water droplet effect can that be done with lexan paint? Others have said only works with enamel paint is lexan paint enamel base ? Can you give tips if you did this thanks
For crisp, clean lines, I use 3M's 1/8" blue vinyl masking tape. It seals tight, and it's flexible enough to turn nicely without puckering up. Also, go to Home Depot and pick up a roll of 6'' masking paper. All those strips of tape to cover the rear of the body are a haven for leaks. NO LEAKS ALLOWED! I can do 4 colors with only one mask. First, outline all masking with the 1/8'' vinyl tape. then, fill in the mask with ordinary masking tape. Cover larger areas with 6'' paper with masking tape along one edge. Spray the darkest color first, pull off the 6'' paper, spray the second color, then, pull off the masking tape fill-in, leaving the 1/8'' vinyl tape, spray the third color, pull off the 1/8'' vinyl and spray the final, lightest color. Now you have a 3-color paint job with a nice 1/8'' outline in a 4th color. Try this method. I think you'll like it! Just, choose your colors wisely and you'll have a very cool body. You should see my 1/10 stadium truck bodies. Using the old Autographics Indy car markings, I did one in Valvoline colors (Light and dark blue, white, and red) and the other in Miller Genuine Draft livery (red, white, and gold). All done using the method I just described. No special skills required. Choosing the right colors, a layout that compliments the style lines of the body, and careful placement of the markings, all come together in a body you created yourself and can be proud of. Remember... NO LEAKS!
Hi Richard, maybe you have an answer. I painted a body going from washing it to doing small layers of paint, so the paint sticks well, even I did it inside a warm area too, but, after two or three runs the color is coming out easily on the parts that bent. Do you think of any reason for this, I used Tamiya PS, thanks.
Tamiya PS is the correct paint....and usually adheres really good. I know that usually either prep (washing the body on the inside) or weather can affect things. Sounds like you did everything right...not sure
Absolutely stunning. Not as hard as I imagined. Never done a clear body paint job yet. Thank you for making this video!

Do you think of any reason for this, I used Tamiya PS, thanks.
Tamiya PS is the correct paint....and usually adheres really good. I know that usually either prep (washing the body on the inside) or weather can affect things. Sounds like you did everything right...not sure
The thumbnail didn't do this paint job justice. It needs to be seen decaled up. Thanks for the ideas 👍
Thanks for watching and the compliments!
Amazing paint job dude!
Thanks SG!
Bro is there a clear Shell with a 1/18 size
Not that I'm aware of....prom Pro-Line at least
Could you paint over an already painted body?
You can, but it will scratch off easy....that's why we paint from the inside
When I back the blue in black, the black completely takes over the blue... the blue is almost black now
If you're using the same Pactra Metallic Blue, you likely didn't use enough of the blue - I used 3 coats of the blue before I hit it with Black
beautiful paint job keep them coming
Thanks Marcus!
hi, may i know why after 1 crash, will make the paint crash too?
Nope, you may get superficial scratches, but not in the paint, as you paint the underside
The RCNetwork thanks for ur。 reply, one more thing, after those codes, was there any final spray to keep the color totally finish ?
Looks dope!!!🤙
