I started running when I am over 40s. Initially I cant even complete a 3km run, but with consistency I managed to do it. I enrolled in my first race the same year - a full marathon. Love it and never look back. It's really so enjoyable to run. The feeling of freedom and peace of mind are things which money can't buy.

The races are surprisingly expensive. A late March half marathon near me is $60 which is my limit. Jersey City and Atlantic were maybe 90 or $110 plus $7 sign up. I've been known to note a race course and run it on my own when the time and weather is right, for free. I can see where I would have placed which is likely the bottom 40% of my age group. For some doing a race route on a non race day can be fun and low stress.

Yes. Races are very expensive. There are some local ones here in Bucks you can sign up for under $60. But I think my neck of the woods is a little far from you?

@@IRunThings I missed the Pennsylvania experience as my son moved to Media, PA 2 weeks before the COVID shutdown. He was there for a year but took a promotion in Alabama. It was my door to the philly half but didn't happen.

Where in Alabama? I did one year of college at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa as part of an exchange program with my uni in Spain
