One noteworthy item to consider, especially if you're contemplating slugs vs shot - the MP155 has *far* worse accuracy than the MP153, so slugs tend to feel a bit random past 50m or so when compared to the 153. For this reason, I would recommend the 155 only for use with shot, and 153 for either cartridge type that suits your needs.
Magnum shoots 8 projectiles that deal 50 damage. If one manages to hit exposed part of the head, instant kill to a PMC. You just need one of the 8 projectiles to land a hit.

Correct me if i'm wrong. 6.5 Express can't headshot with one pellet since if it has 35 damage it automatically means that after leaving the barrel it's gonna have less than that.

For those who want to try something something cheeky , the MP- 18 is classified as a shotgun in-game. People are saying it doesn't work anymore so I went test it and can confirm kills with mp18 do not count for setup anymore.
Used to run this quest back in previous wipes with Magnum Buck but have switched to makeshift .50 cal BMG slugs and it was night and day difference. I think the armor changes made the .50 cal BMG super worth it, it's a one shot if you hit them in a non armored part of their thorax (side) and with 26 pen it has a high chance to go through even level 3 armor (if I read charts correctly) so you can mess up level 3 armor wearers and even level 4-5-6 armor wearers when you shoot around their plates
This quest sucks and I have been dreading working on it, but I have consistently one-tapped with FTX slugs just shooting high center mass on players. Seems like if you hit anywhere other than the plate on the thorax hitbox you go through most of the time. I didn’t realize how cheap the stock mod was, definitely going to be doing that, thanks GB!

8:40 what's also worth mentioning perhaps is that express travels faster than the other bucks so I still find it reliable even up to 50m, I usually run magnum but if I don't got flechette or ap-20 yet and I'm going on a bigger outdoors map where I can't easily force close quarters I'll roll for express instead. If I'm not running STM-9 with AP, AK SAG or AK TKM with APM, I'll be running shotty with the above mentioned setup, love the shotties.
I like 6.5 express way more then pirana because most high tier armours have level 3 soft armour and 6.5 express is super tight even before a chokes added and gou can hit face really well with it.
yeah the express shells definitely feel "tight" compared to other buckshots. i havent had much luck with piranha myself, and stick to legs/headshot instead.
Have you tried the P90 this wipe? I literally sold every other gun in my hideout and have been running p90/valday combo for the past week. Thing absolutely shreds.

The other thing with the 153 is that with the pistol grip it makes it 2 slots tall. The weapon takes so many slots and weighs so much and is worth so little sold that basically no one takes it making it come back very reliably in insurance as well.

shouldn't the MP-18 be possible too for this quest? never checked it out but its classified as a shotgun counts towards lvling shotgun skill etc and also is in the MP series.
As a budget high ergo choice i prefer to rock the MP-155 with just the ultima top rail and underbarrel mount with a cheap red dot, no need for the full ultima build unless u want a silencer
I don't see why not - funny side note, in relation to that, it's also possible to use the MP-18 single shot, break action rifle chambered in 7.62x54mmR. So, if you want to turn Setup into a sniping quest... have at it, lol
Not for Piranha, all accuracy does is change the MOA very slightly ie the center of your buckshot style spread. For slugs it's more impactful over longer ranges
I did setup mostly with FTX slugs. All the piranha and buckshot just did no damage outside of close range for me, while the FTX got me a lot of armpit and head shots. The BMG I'm sure is the best but I don't think I had it unlocked at the time. One thing to note is the zeroing for shotguns is completely wrong because they are all zeroed for 7mm buckshot.
yeah FTX with a 2x32 Monstrum on the MP155 absolutely slaps. BMG is a bit overrated with its tracer and +25 recoil imho, while FTX has -25 with slightly higher velocity and is a hundred times less expensive. CSP isn't too bad either with its high fragmentation and 206 damage, can often be found with Fence or is readily available with Jager LL2. Superformance HP with its super high and flat 594m/s velocity is also worth mentioning if you intend to use your shotgun as a sniper rifle, although the zeroing is a bit all over the place as mentioned Chokes and longer barrels will definitely help with MOA/velocity too if you intend to use slugs

I've been buying rip rounds off the flee, I have found they're still incredibly strong even at range, if your not killing them, you are severly hindering them from moving or shooting back accurately.

Giga, have you tried Rip rounds? I did punisher on Lighthouse with them. First shot to the legs just destroys players, pretty good range of 30-50m as well.
I prefer the 155 ultima build cause way more ergo over every other shotgun by far. The 153 is longer and therefore more bulky, more barrel swinging. Only point for the 153 is the better accuracy.
133x8 mags aren't too hard to come by... Often, if your scav spawns with a 133-shotgun, you're likely to start off with the x8 mag. Regular AI-scavs also carry MP-133 with x8 mags, even if it's a "waste" of a gun-slot. Either way, it's the "easy way" to acquire the mags for your shotties early on, before being able to get them off of the jaeger.
Ate jaeger 2 you can grab a double barrel shotgun that fits in a pistol slot I like to bring a stack of magnum or pirahna into raids with the shotgun, just incase i dont have time to reload, or i run out of ammo, 2 pirahna at once will decimate a lot of folks, and its so cheap, like total of 11 or 12k, to have a pmc killing pistol that fires many of the most commonly found 'decent' rounds in raid. Magnum, express, even grizzly and peluva are okay in a pinch
Good tips but also reminds me why I stopped playing. I can't stand any of the "Kill PMCs" quests. I've got over 700 hours in the game and I can count the number of decent firefights I've had on one hand. Every encounter I've had with a PMC has been either me happening to be in the right spot and ambushing them, or my immediate death. And even my ambushes, half the time they kill me anyway.
Yeah the combat in this game is mostly wack.. decent fights kinda never happen its 90% one taps and armor and helmets do like nothing in most cases also desync and cheaters dont really help.for a good pvp experience... and this in a fps game jeez😂 its sad when u see old tarkov pvp and how long some fights lasted felt way better then now.
Personally I have more success with .50 BMG or Superformance slugs, than with buckshots. When you run into a squad as a solo player with the shotties you can easily get cornered and run out of shells or get stuck in reloading. The tactic that works for me best is to keep distance, flank a lot and pick them one by one. That's more difficult with buckshots imho.
I’m surprised people are still doing this one. Piranha crafts at level two workbench and most armor has ridiculous hit boxes allowing for one-to-two shot kills.
I am lvl 30 and I didn't even start this quest. I just hate running dressed like a clown and forcing myself into cqc where I lack reaction to reliably win. Also the prices for hats are insane and I barely see them on scavs.
I have had good luck with both Pirahana and the .50BMG Shells for setup. Lately ive been prefering the .50bmg for the standoff range in an engagement. And with the way armor works i can 2-3 kill a PMC from farther away than those using Pirahna.
@@brodiekochie7709 Yeah I liked Pirahana for the armor pen and headshot but I was finding at distances around 50m it was falling off pretty good. I will concede that inside dorms or really any fight within 50ft, Pirahana dominates over the slugs.

My problem has either been running into feral packs of 4-5 scavs, killing 3 and then eventually getting 1 tapped to the face. Or doing 300/300 damage and still dying. Maybe the laser will help, lol
I am finding shotguns fairly inconsistent, which is depressing. Piranha worked great one raid, than turned over nothing the next 3. 50 bmg kills scavs fairly easily up to 150m but i lierally havent got a return on investment against a pmc. Took AP20 in, got jump/headshot on rocks over new gas by a guy using an svd from train wreck by old gas. At night, without nods. With one shot. So ap20 is still untested.
The quest was easy. Only difficult part was finding PMCs. I would rush dorms, crack and stronghold. I’d only kill 1 PMC every 2 or 3 raids. Idk but the majority of the player base must not like the snow, because no one was moving.
I'm thinking a very cheeky way to complete this quest and make bank in the process is to sit in the bathroom behind marked room. Wait for someone to open it and boom. 1 kill towards the quest plus marked room loot lol
Between the loot vacuums, esp/radar bros, and most people with a marked key not wanting to blasted and checking that spot, I don't think you will ejtoy too much marked room loot. That said, I see A LOT of people looting the roof, and nobody expects that to get camped. And you can shoot people entering/leaving fairly easily. Could be nasty.
I;m two days ahead of this video by necessity. I feel the RNG is good for low end PC's as well because you never are able to estimate the ping in this game sometimes. Seems like im unloading magazines on people and coming back with zero hits.... it's baffling. Switched to a shotty and suddenly I can one tap and two tap PMCs again.
so crazy, like at 15 to 20 meters I can dump 3 shells of piranha at a guy and he acts like nothing happened but he 1 taps me first shot with his piranha. Doesnt make sense I aim for throat.
Used 7m for 90% of my kills. Seems pretty consistent up close especially if you’re hitting headshots. Pirana seems pretty hit and miss to me just because of the damage output being lower. Yea you can pen the lvl 2 aramid but it’s damage is gonna be even lower after it makes it through that armor
Have had the worst luck with this quest this wipe, I regret not just putting all my focus into immediately when I unlocked it, after people get better guns and armor and you still don't have flechette this becomes more painful
My friend was having a coping moment when piranha penned his level 4 ceramic armour and he died immediately in the chest. Turns out apparently the chest area is given level 2 class armour so uhh major ouchies.
Alright Beef, any chance you could make an up to date video on a good method to get jaeger lvl2? What;s the best way to get past some of the pain in the arse quests like shooter pt.3? Been on it for 2 weeks now, i get on average about 2 raids in a day if i'm lucky, sometimes i can sesh it on the weekends. Sitting in factory trying to get it got me no where any of the wipes up until now, i tried a few raids in there the otherday, getting the kills is no issue, its the range. I think it sucks that they locked the holodilnik behind lvl 2 jaeger now as it basically makes it such a slog for us standard account users.
I don't understand how setup is hard for anyone unless people just haven't used shotguns much. Took 4 raids lol With flech being so expensive just went with piranah and it absolutely slaps up close and literally sniped a few over 100m away. Aim for the chin/neck and fire.
I did it, but boy is it toxic this wipe. You just doomed to ruin low level guys quests or die because you just have no range or firepower. AP-20 at least lets you extend your range to 30-50-even 100m . Just wish BSG lowered kill count to 8-10
BMG Slug has crazy range. Killed a guy at construction from 3 story dorms door. The task is toxic and annoying though. The amount of people hiding in corners or bushes to get the kill!

MP-153 with the AGR-870 pistol grip and an M4SS stock makes the weapon 7x2 in size so you'll almost always get it back in insurance.

you should always use the choke for the slight accuracy bonus, much more important than the recoil

Regular AI-scavs also carry MP-133 with x8 mags, even if it's a "waste" of a gun-slot.
Either way, it's the "easy way" to acquire the mags for your shotties early on, before being able to get them off of the jaeger.
Setup already done, but could help for silent caliber.... on the other hand I already have AP20 as well so no need for pirana I guess
Ate jaeger 2 you can grab a double barrel shotgun that fits in a pistol slot
I like to bring a stack of magnum or pirahna into raids with the shotgun, just incase i dont have time to reload, or i run out of ammo, 2 pirahna at once will decimate a lot of folks, and its so cheap, like total of 11 or 12k, to have a pmc killing pistol that fires many of the most commonly found 'decent' rounds in raid. Magnum, express, even grizzly and peluva are okay in a pinch

Good tips but also reminds me why I stopped playing. I can't stand any of the "Kill PMCs" quests. I've got over 700 hours in the game and I can count the number of decent firefights I've had on one hand. Every encounter I've had with a PMC has been either me happening to be in the right spot and ambushing them, or my immediate death. And even my ambushes, half the time they kill me anyway.
Yeah the combat in this game is mostly wack.. decent fights kinda never happen its 90% one taps and armor and helmets do like nothing in most cases also desync and cheaters dont really help.for a good pvp experience... and this in a fps game jeez😂 its sad when u see old tarkov pvp and how long some fights lasted felt way better then now.
Personally I have more success with .50 BMG or Superformance slugs, than with buckshots. When you run into a squad as a solo player with the shotties you can easily get cornered and run out of shells or get stuck in reloading. The tactic that works for me best is to keep distance, flank a lot and pick them one by one. That's more difficult with buckshots imho.
I’m surprised people are still doing this one. Piranha crafts at level two workbench and most armor has ridiculous hit boxes allowing for one-to-two shot kills.
I am lvl 30 and I didn't even start this quest. I just hate running dressed like a clown and forcing myself into cqc where I lack reaction to reliably win. Also the prices for hats are insane and I barely see them on scavs.

I’m pretty new to tarkov but was able to do the scav cosplay quest in about 3-4 days, is that not the norm?
I have had good luck with both Pirahana and the .50BMG Shells for setup. Lately ive been prefering the .50bmg for the standoff range in an engagement. And with the way armor works i can 2-3 kill a PMC from farther away than those using Pirahna.
Piranha has a tight spread up to almost 50 feet lol it's so easy to headshot
@@brodiekochie7709 Yeah I liked Pirahana for the armor pen and headshot but I was finding at distances around 50m it was falling off pretty good. I will concede that inside dorms or really any fight within 50ft, Pirahana dominates over the slugs.

I've been running BMGs - I might have to switch to pirannah. I'm stuck at 11/15. They really need to lower the kill amount for this task.
I came to a different conclusion in my setup guide. Felt that 50 bmg was much more consistent than piranha.
Tell this shit to my post raid statistics with 600 flash damage and 500 damage to armor with .50 BMG. Piranha can make the job done much better.

My problem has either been running into feral packs of 4-5 scavs, killing 3 and then eventually getting 1 tapped to the face. Or doing 300/300 damage and still dying. Maybe the laser will help, lol
I did mine with your 153 build, but remmington choke over the brake, and 610 barrel for better ergo/longer ADS and bmg slugs.
I am finding shotguns fairly inconsistent, which is depressing. Piranha worked great one raid, than turned over nothing the next 3. 50 bmg kills scavs fairly easily up to 150m but i lierally havent got a return on investment against a pmc. Took AP20 in, got jump/headshot on rocks over new gas by a guy using an svd from train wreck by old gas. At night, without nods. With one shot. So ap20 is still untested.
The quest was easy. Only difficult part was finding PMCs. I would rush dorms, crack and stronghold. I’d only kill 1 PMC every 2 or 3 raids. Idk but the majority of the player base must not like the snow, because no one was moving.
I'm thinking a very cheeky way to complete this quest and make bank in the process is to sit in the bathroom behind marked room. Wait for someone to open it and boom. 1 kill towards the quest plus marked room loot lol
If you want to wait 200 raids to complete the quest than that might work.
Between the loot vacuums, esp/radar bros, and most people with a marked key not wanting to blasted and checking that spot, I don't think you will ejtoy too much marked room loot. That said, I see A LOT of people looting the roof, and nobody expects that to get camped. And you can shoot people entering/leaving fairly easily. Could be nasty.

I;m two days ahead of this video by necessity. I feel the RNG is good for low end PC's as well because you never are able to estimate the ping in this game sometimes. Seems like im unloading magazines on people and coming back with zero hits.... it's baffling. Switched to a shotty and suddenly I can one tap and two tap PMCs again.

so crazy, like at 15 to 20 meters I can dump 3 shells of piranha at a guy and he acts like nothing happened but he 1 taps me first shot with his piranha. Doesnt make sense I aim for throat.
I'll stick with magnum, I can headshot up to around 40 meters somewhat consistently (if the target is not running)
Used 7m for 90% of my kills. Seems pretty consistent up close especially if you’re hitting headshots. Pirana seems pretty hit and miss to me just because of the damage output being lower. Yea you can pen the lvl 2 aramid but it’s damage is gonna be even lower after it makes it through that armor

Have had the worst luck with this quest this wipe, I regret not just putting all my focus into immediately when I unlocked it, after people get better guns and armor and you still don't have flechette this becomes more painful

My friend was having a coping moment when piranha penned his level 4 ceramic armour and he died immediately in the chest. Turns out apparently the chest area is given level 2 class armour so uhh major ouchies.

Alright Beef, any chance you could make an up to date video on a good method to get jaeger lvl2? What;s the best way to get past some of the pain in the arse quests like shooter pt.3? Been on it for 2 weeks now, i get on average about 2 raids in a day if i'm lucky, sometimes i can sesh it on the weekends. Sitting in factory trying to get it got me no where any of the wipes up until now, i tried a few raids in there the otherday, getting the kills is no issue, its the range. I think it sucks that they locked the holodilnik behind lvl 2 jaeger now as it basically makes it such a slog for us standard account users.
I had to hit someone with piranha so many times it was comical. I'd just stick to magnum fuckshot or RIPs if you feel like actually hiting your shots.
Do I also need to do a quest to unlock 12/70 Piranha?

I don't understand how setup is hard for anyone unless people just haven't used shotguns much. Took 4 raids lol With flech being so expensive just went with piranah and it absolutely slaps up close and literally sniped a few over 100m away. Aim for the chin/neck and fire.

I did it, but boy is it toxic this wipe. You just doomed to ruin low level guys quests or die because you just have no range or firepower. AP-20 at least lets you extend your range to 30-50-even 100m .
Just wish BSG lowered kill count to 8-10
BMG Slug has crazy range. Killed a guy at construction from 3 story dorms door. The task is toxic and annoying though. The amount of people hiding in corners or bushes to get the kill!
@@beno9966it does have range and i used it, but it just lacks that power of AP-20. Had couple of really bad fights where guys didnt die after 3-4-5 direct confirmed hits. Had to take magnum and just push through

the quest restricts what weapons you can use. so yes you can use it. i just won't count.
it also has MUCH lower firerate altho has much higher mag capacity it ends up being worse
