if the plan is to only track it, i suggest avoid using spacers, but if its for mainly for show purposes and normal road use, then defo get some spacers on.
@@JNASLDN Spacers do absolutely nothing to a track ready car man, infact a lot of expensive high end cars already have them from factory to get a perfect fitment. Including Porches and BMWs
hi mate, if you get a flat sanding block and scuff at the Honda badge on the rocker, it will leave a chrome finish Honda logo and look 10x nicer :). just a suggestion
This is proving to be my favourite RUclips build. Once those issues are sorted and it's had a new set of white clothes it's going to look truly amazing.
Build is looking good. I don't know if you were already planning it, but after seeing the new interior change the grey roof/pillar lining let's it down and would look much better if it was black.
JDM ep3 had a front diff which I've had fitted to mine. (I imported one from Japan, new, for an Integra - there are limited numbers so if you see one get it). Expensive but game changer. If you were excited about the first drive what 'til you get it mapped, they drop Vtec to 4600 and up the RPM to 8200. Its a different animal. check oil regularly and keep 1L on you, you will burn oil each time you're in VTEC. If not, its not monitored and it is oil starved even for a short time. it's likely blown head gasket time. Hope that helps. Always use genuine Honda parts and my performance garage also recommends keeping Honda oil in it.
@@JackMcNeillCars No worries, I'm really enjoying the build, the drive to get in there and give it a go is commendable. I had my oil changed last week and after refiling it they pulled the fuse (Im guessing to the fuel pump) then turned it over for about 5-10 seconds. When i asked, was told this allows oil pressure to build up, before they refitted the fuse to start it. Prevents you running it from dry as he said in some cases it can take 15 seconds on start to get the oil up to pressure and all the way round. Thought I'd pass that one on as i noted on your first start up just fired it up on it's first go. Looking forward to the next one.
Some of the information you've given is false: - Get it mapped IF there are any mods. Standard ECU map will do fine. - Map on a dyno - dropping VTEC without any significant mods will result in a power dip - Honda knew where the crossover should be put. - Reduced oil will result in oil starvation, usually ruining the crank bearings and the engine will knock. The head gasket will blow on age, overheating or boost. Otherwise yes, a front LSD is good, OEM helical. They are easy to find in the UK and usually a whole gearbox with LSD is around 700-800 GBP. I would recommend a shorter final drive from FN2 (5.1) or a 5.33 (much rarer, like FWD USDM K24 CR-V and such)
Jack, you have nailed the formula. Your project is relatable, your filming and delivery are spot on, editing is great. Huge future ahead of you. Keep creating, I love it 👍
You are living my dream... I don't think I've ever said this but this is my favourite build on youtube. It scratches my brain in the right way with how you're doing pretty much everything properly OEM as if it were factory. And the Jazz is a seriously underrated car past it's grandma reputation - Love mine to bits even in completely standard form. Maybe I'll keep it when I get a new car and hopefully do something like this some day.
I just discovered your channel today and it has been a treat to follow your consistent progress on your car every single video, thank you for not doing the typical british car youtuber thing of buying a new car every week and never finishing any of them, having a junkyard of unfinished projects as a result. I much prefer this format of making video after video on one single car and make a complete project out of it.
Good call on replacing the timing chain, genuine parts = Honda reliability. Make sure to change the chain tensioner if you replaced that with a cheap aftermarket. Watch out for leaks on the valve cover. That wrinkle is not going to seat the cover seals correctly and will bleed through. If you clutch pedal is hard, now is the time to replace them. They cheap, an exedy oem, try Tegiwa. Also a good time to replace the flywheel with a lightened facelift one if yours is the pre facelift engine. After a skim, they good as new
Watched this build from the very beginning and man, all i want to say is that this is my dream car rn. There’s something so classy about a pure n/a 2000’s honda, i love it, keep it up
You Remind me so much of myself 20 years ago on my Saxo VTR in my parent's garage - Wish we had youtube back then or the thought to document stuff in the max power era like you do now! . Im 44 now and run my own bodywork business so its gone from a hobby to a living so ive no time or willing for my own cars!! but enjoy watching you and others. Car looks great. bet they'd go wild for it in Japan when it's done. All the best.
Are you getting a rear hatch spoiler like the Ep3 has? Also you can use the gauge cluster. You "just" have to get the service manuals for both versions and put the pins in the right location. They both use CAN bus so it should more or less be "plug and play" after repinning. Alot of work. But worth it imo
Re: Engine since your doing the timing chain etc. Please look into skunk2 Kseries Timing Chain Cover RAW or Black . Features a two-piece design which facilitates easy timing gear access and cylinder head removal
loving this series, if youre going to the trouble of full paint while you smooth the wiper delete on the back, do the same for the rear door handles (obviously NEVER flip the child locks on though!)
Just discovered this. I’m a Honda fan. I bought my first Honda In Australia in 2005, an Accord Euro (as it was named in Australia) 2.4 litre iVtec. Then bought my first new Civic TypeR in 2007. Traded that for a new 2010 Civic Type R. My wife currently drives a 2017 Jazz. That’s the 4th Jazz we have had. Nice content…keep it up.
it honestly looks so much better the red valve cover, tail lights and interior . continue to make it look amazing. so invested in these episode continue to do your good work.
I've got those rear lights on my jazz. You'll need to replace one of the reverse light bulbs with a red coloured bulb and use the rear fog light connector for an MOT 👍 really glad I found your videos, you're doing everything I wish I could do with mine! Such an underrated car, bet its so fun to drive with the engine
Hi Guys, just found your channnel and found it interesting, I am a motor engineer and a honda FD2 owner, love what your doing and yes you will make a lot of mistakes .. its all part of the fun.
You can take apart the instrument clusters and swap parts between then. So put the dark Jazz sport instrument cover with the rev counter numbers, etc into the stock unit, reassemble and install it onto the jazz. I’ve done it on a Clio before swapping a clio dash cover with an RS one. Relatively easy to do.
I've always thought a dream hatchback would be a jazz type R, the jazz size/practicalness with a performance engine and you correctly made all the right choices, the wheels, removing the smoked lights (chav spec) and changing the boring silver jazz colour, well done keep it up!
Love what your doing to the car man, you’re absolutely doing this car justice Maybe some spacers to get rid of that wheel gap you have??? Also if u want you can get some performance pedals for the car too (there is some metal covers that go over the old ones if u like)
I've used that VHT a handful of times it's good stuff... I use a piece of wood underneath the cover so it's edges aren't sat on the ground. 15 minute intervals and then heat but what I didn't know till later on you can spray any areas that aren't wrinkling as much. Keep it up 🤘
Love how everything came out! Just need custom red floor carpet and the interior will be done! And find a way to wire that new cluster gauge in because that one looked wayytt better haha, love all the progress on it and pulling the motor out and getting everything painted is the right move, now you know all your mistakes it's time to get everything done right 😎 great work man
Cars looking great but as you were removing the boot, i noticed that the rear right seatbelt is tucked behind the black plastic trim. I didn't see any other comments about this so just a heads up.
Ok first: spoiler, bigger disks, bigger Brakes, better suspension(lower), AWD?, turbo tune !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Second: love your serie man its really cool to see a normal car turn into a sportscar. Keep up te grind 💪💪

Just a thought with the clusters. If they are exactly the same sizes you might be able the swap the dial backing plates over by stripping them down. Hope that makes sense, so the the sport dials get changed over into the standard jazz dial casing.
got engine may be bad got clocks dont fit got paint cant paint got bootlid and finally did something right with all respect you have done this car justice i love it
Good work bro, only thing externally I’d add is a rear spoiler, interior wise I would get the carpets redone to make them more black to suit the colour of the seats
When using rattlecans for spraying to help avoid heavy spraying hang the item you want painted. You want the can to be vertical while spraying. The 1st coat should only be a dusting and should take atleast 3 coats to cover the material completely
What an amazing build! Dont forget to add the jazz vtec (sport) rear boot spoiler. Unless you plan on adding a mugen style spoiler that will mimic the civic type r?
Didn’t see any rear headrests and now it’s such a killer jazz - all your mates will be piling in the back - not the most comfy of things without them! Black like the EP3 to contrast with the red 👍 paint 100% the way to go. As a few have said previously, slight spacers to fill those arches a touch more. Really fun build to watch
