Wind test!!!! Yea!!! That was some serious wind, those props were spinning like pinwheels without even powering up the motors on the quads. The M3, very impressive. The air 2S did well also but the M3 is just incredible. If I chased tornadoes the M3 would be in my tool box!

Considering the price and size difference I think the air 2s is a small beats of a value drone I’ve flown in high wind with no issues and it’s very stable I recommend it to anyone as a hobbyist and I have and extra $1500 in my pocket
I was thinking the same thing, imagine how many extra batteries, memory cards and filters you would get...that or the mini 3 😭

if you want a laugh, put some autel to the mix.. but it would be interesting, how good old mavic2 would cope with new gang..
I had the Mini 2 up on a windy morning the other day. The gusts were over 25 mph but I'm not sure what the actual speed was (wind was increasing by the minute). Going into the wind I would hit gusts that gave me a wind warning and the quad would stop, the wind wasn't enough to push it backward but it couldn't move forward in normal mode with the stick pegged. I also had problems landing, I was shooting for a walkway because all the grass was covered with snow. I had a strong crosswind that blew the quad a good 75' twice, one time it was enough that the gimbal couldn't handle it, the gimbal rolled sideway and stayed there, obviously the wind was a bit past the Mini 2's limit. The temperature was 17F, I don't think that helped me any.
@@robskyful The DJI fpv performs well in the wind but if your looking for a level horizon the gimbal doesn't have a roll axis so you can see any wind correction in the video.
@@robskyful its logical, if fpv is capable of more speed (props have much more aggressive angle, use more powerful motors etc), that it would stands higher winds, specially with dji model, which can use gps lock etc (so probably helps to be more stable). but in the end, its on you to take risk and try it out, lol..

Great video! Regarding wind resistance; how do you think the Air 3 will compare to Air 2s? Are you going to perform the same test with the Mavic 3 vs Air 3?

Air 2s did pretty good considering the smaller motors and lighter weight in the wind compared to the M3. I would still be careful with the lighter drone in strong winds though.
Hi and thx for your videos that have been very helpfull to help me choose which drone to buy. I bought the M3 intending to shoot sailing videos. And I started this summer in a 18 knt wind at sea level, probably 25/30 knt up there at 50 m. As soon as I took off the drone said "strong wind. unable to go back home automatically. Reduce altitude and come back manually." How come your M3 doesn't say the same? Is it a real warning? Shall I really go back and land? All the best from France !

Great video. Mavic 3 is a real bad boy in the wind. Amazing. Downside is all the other drones are flying while the Mavic 3 is waiting for satellites and Homepoint lol 😂

You will find the CCP is all smoke and mirrors...The drone has to be heightened to get a fix because really GPS means ground position system and 3 radio masts are used to triangulate a position..
It is just a radio receiver ....No sats exist...look at my profile picture

An interesting video, I have the m3 and the air 2 and I notice the big difference in wind with the m3, I feel more confident with the m3 in wind all day long.
The m3 is a powerhouse and for me I only have 1 issue and it's the second camera, DJI please give us RAW option on second camera.
I'm doing a video on the picture quality of the 2nd camera.... It's got some good pros and the odd con....👍🏻👍🏻

Sterling work as usual,I'm contemplating putting my air2 up shortly,I've got an anemometer aswell,so I was going to attach it to the ma2 & see what reading I get,when I'm say 20m,30m.&see how it fairs.Ive taken it up in 30-40mph gusts& was surprised how well it did.But today is a good deal worse& most sane people would not fly,as its not advisable.Phillip Bloom had some interesting takes on the 2nd cam on the M3,so I'll be interested to see Ians take on it.Take care & happy flying👍🙈🙉🙊😉🇬🇧®️©️™️🤖🐨🎥

Yep; given the length of time it takes to lock on to GPS, we have 2 mins of ATTI mode at the start each time :)

it can stand it ground to wind somewhere till 80-90 km/h, i would say (it is speed, capable of without sofware limiter, which i do believe is overdrive in some heavy gusts).

Hi Ian i have a mini and air 2s for Hobby should I get the mavic 3 or does the air s2 do most of it?
Air 2 S does everything you want. Only main difference for M3 is longer flight time and even bigger sensor. But air 2 S is half the price for much the same 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Ian. Hope this is not a stupid question, but if you take off (with any drone) using DJI Fly say and stop the flight whilst in the air, disconnect the Fly app, can you boot up a different app, say Dronelink, and pick up flying the drone from where you stopped it in the air?
I've never used a different app, but if it connects, it won't know the home point. I do know you can turn off the remote and start it up again....

there are many times, where with altitudes wind is much stronger and can trick you, thinking wind is not a problem when no heavy wind is present at the ground. also, some heavy gusts of wind, which you cant predict etc etc, that's when it is vital to have good strong machine, which you can trust and be sure, you will get your drone back safe.
I was hoping you would have tested the Nano - as I can catch it when it lands in Australia!

Bet the Air 2 could get to the oak tree and back twice before the 3 locked on enough sattelites, I am seriously thinking of selling mine and going back to the 2S and a mini 2 .

Slightly.... The Air 2s was being slightly blown off course... But for the 3 tests, it was a close match

I am working with Drone for many years now, I have purchased the Mavic three, but when I went to work for the first time with it the video is really bad, I like to send you a link of that video and let me know if you know any other owner who have the same problem
If it's jumpy and stuttering, it may be too much for your computer?
i'm guessing here, but you need to learn how to focus (and meter your scene for light, since it does have mechanical aperture in the lens, which also affects sharpness etc) with mavic 2/3, specially if you didn't have to deal with that before (most of others are fixed focus/aperture drones). turn on focus peaking for start. it is advanced machine, which will get you best results when you learned it well and use manually. if you use auto everything, then just get a mini and call it a day..

the shot that I willl send you was not easy to get. it is very sad that end up so bad. but I have to admit there was allot of wind rafal at 100km loll. but it is doing the same thing with less wind.

Ian the only comment I could make is you should have also swapped the drones so you wife got to fly the 3 as well. Because trained pilots (you) fly more efficiently.
Not my wife and she flies very well! But yes, maybe a swap half way through would have been even fairer! In this case, it was literally point and full right stick.... :)

U really can't compare speed in wind with a size difference in drones .... Mavic Pro 3 is a stronger bigger drone .... this comparison makes no sense.... hell y not compare the DJI FPV drone in there lol
Course you can. Both have nearly same max speed and similar wind resistance. Made perfect sense...
