I put in an Alta BOV spring, and Torque Solutions adapter. ruclips.net/video/zwNQ3HEl8Gg/видео.htmlsi=Ws4U_oNCn28n-l8H That made the most difference with the BOV sound. The intake had a different intake and release noise.

Sorry, which piece are you referring to as the air duct tubing? The stock tubing was removed, and the only thing reused was the bottom of the filter housing and the MAF sensor holder. ruclips.net/video/-nUGblRX99o/видео.htmlsi=GY_-wjcqM_pTAlof&t=100
Helpful video. Just picked up my mini and love this little thing. Your video's will be usefu, thanks! Btw I think you're a few blocks away from me haha
Have any idea what filter comes on this intake kit? I have this exact same kit on my clubman and need to replace the filter but can’t find any info anywhere.
Hello Nick, I can't find the filter model on the K&N website. The filter model is typically stamped on the top or inside of the filter. I'd suggest checking there first. Thanks.
Do you recommend unplugging the battery? Most of the other videos recommend disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery but I didn’t see you do it. Excited to install mine!
I must have forgotten to mention it. It's always good practice to disconnect the negative battery terminal whenever working on electrical components like unplugging the map/maf sensor. You can get away without doing it though.
I didn't have an issue with rain with this intake. Typically it's not an issue unless it's a cold air intake that is submerged underwater. Thanks for the question
I got it from Amazon. The "cool" noise is probably from Alta BOV and Torque Solutions adapter. ruclips.net/video/zwNQ3HEl8Gg/видео.html Auto Meter 4303 Ultra-Lite Mechanical Boost/Vacuum Gauge amzn.to/3eOxcWG ALTA AMP-INT-211 Boost Port Adapter (R56) amzn.to/2Y7gGvn
You may be able to remove the filter by loosening the clamp, and feeding it through the enclosure. If that doesn't work then you'll need to remove the enclosure. I sold the car, and didn't have a chance to clean the filter when I had it.
@@ColinLeung yeah I loosened the clamp but the filter is to big to just take out of the enclosure, so i guess ill just need to take the whole enclosure off.. thanks for the info tho!
@@maxmccarthy2983 Cheapest would probably be keeping up with basic tune up. Replace the air filter with a higher flowing one, spark plugs, oil change, transmission fluid flush, coolant, etc. You can do better brake pads and rotors, lighter rims and performance tires, springs or coilovers, headers and exhaust, but they can be on the more expensive side.
Hello Roy, I had a mini cooper S, which was a manual transmission turbo charged version of the non S. The paddle shifters are only on automatics. Thanks.

I gave a thumbs down because i feel you should have got out of the residential neighborhood at some point before you recorded us a clip. Just my personal opinion. My 4 year old nephew was killed because of someone driving through places where they shouldn't be playing in their vehicles. Im glad nothing happened but the video literally made me feel like i couldn't breathe. Sorry.
I appreciate the feedback, and I'm sorry for the loss of your nephew. I'll admit that I should have filmed out of a residential neighborhood for the safety of those in the neighborhood and comfort of those watching. It was my intent to demonstrate the sound of the intake, which typically involves more sprinted throttling. I do not believe I ever exceeded the residential speed limit from the footage of the speedometer, and the camera angle and engine noise may have contributed to the car seeming faster than it actually was going. I have made a more conscious effort to drive slower in general as I have aged, and will be more mindful in where I record in the future. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!
Having this very cool to drive (but very painful to maintain) vehicle, I wish I was a mechanic :)
@Malcolm Bryan lol, nice scam
Thanks for the tutorial. I hear the blowoff valve. Did you do anything with that, or is it after the CAI install? Sounds nice.

Question: When you installed this K&N Typhoon CAI did you remove the air duct tubing ? If not, did it affect the air inflow?

With this intake do you have to worry about rain water going in through the hood scoop and into the intake?

Where did you get that boost gauge and why does it sound so cool?

I think so. It's been a while since I owned the car.

Can this be installed on a non S mini cooper r56?
Based on the pictures I'm seeing on google the airboxes are not in the same location, so I don't think it'll work.
Do you have to keep the OEM lower intake tube? (That one flexible tube under the ECU wires and beside the coolant tank?)
