Tata Altroz diesel | 120kmph fuel efficiency test on Samruddhi Mahamarg | evo India

- Опубликовано: 17 окт 2024
- The Tata Altroz diesel is the only diesel hatchback you can buy today. Top that off with the fact that it's also 5-star safety rated. That makes the Altroz one of the best, if not the best, to take on a road trip on the newly constructed Samruddhi Mahamarg. Anand Mohan heads to Nagpur which is the starting point of the road trip to test if a diesel hatchback is still relevant on modern expressways like the Samruddhi Mahamarg and what FE figures can be achieved at increased highway speeds. To bring you up to speed, Samruddhi Mahamarg is a 701km stretch of a super highway between Mumbai and Nagpur. It will cut down the travel time between the two cities to mere 6 hours, as compared to the earlier 15+ hours.

Where will you go on a road trip with the Altroz diesel?
Last year I did mumbai to kargil army base in my 3L dicor safari VX. Solo.
Did Kashmir to ajmer non stop(no over night stop ) 30.5 hrs during return.. This year to do something hatke...I took my 2005 santro xing mumbai to lahul,Koksar, kasol, jibhi again driving solo. Pics and a short of this year available on this platform and last years videos.
While going I did mumbai jaipur 22hrs one go @90kmph. Was worried about the heat at Gujarat and rajasthan, while coming back I did ajmer mumbai 19hrs45 mins. The santro performed truly well being such a old car even in the lack of roads from AUT to Jibhi and steep inclines. I didnt even have to top off the coolant. Only maintenance was a car wash at manali. Max mileage I got in the santro was 22.3kmpl...min was 13.8 in the Himalayas at altitude. Santro is pure petrol. I used System G for better combustion and injector efficiency in the santro every 2000kms. Total trip was 4508kms in the santro.
Safari from mumbai to swarghat in Hp I got between 16.9 to 16.4 constantly as it does 100kmph on fifth gear at ~1750 rpm being a long stroke engine. In the himalayas and between sarchu to Leh it dropped to 13.5kmpl on diesel. Safari I used system D every 2000km in the tank. Total trio here was close to 7000kms round .
If I get the altroz diesel or the Iturbo...i think north east is next. As I last did it in 2016.
Pan America if possible! 😁

I drove this car from Nagpur to Aurangabad at a continuous 120 kmph and maxed it out at 140 kmph; it was petrol, so the mileage was low, but I was delighted with the car's stability. I really enjoyed it.
How much u get
Must have really felt the need of a 6th gear back then , right?
I also take the Altroz on Trip of 1300km + From Rajkot, Gujarat to Goa and the car Perform omg really Superb i got 21kmpl average on petrol at speed between 90 to 110 and I really enjoy the drive on Highway and Mountains, we Took 2 cars together on trip Altroz and New gen i20 but stability of altroz is 10 out of 10.
Nirama S Raman wants more ehnthusiastics like you to help country's economy.
There was once a great 320nm diesel hatch/SUV/crossover (don't know where it really fits) 1.6L Fiat sourced engine in a Suzuki.
SCross 1.6DDiS !! It used to pull 130+kmph under 2k rpm. What an engine.
I really miss that 1.6 Fiat Multi Jet Diesel Engine... It's a classy
1.6 tdi vw
I was in market around 2018, Thats when I wanted to test drive that 1.6 scross, But that engine was discontinued, Ended Up having Ecosport, Even thats a mini truck i say
Kudos to Tata for keeping the Altroz Diesel Alive. Recently withdrawn Hyundai i20 Diesel was a better highway car than the i20 Turbo. So sad that small town dealerships did not have the i20 Diesel for a test drive. Too bad even the Hyundai had to kill diesels on their small cars.
BTW, I drive a diesel Jazz. I'm driving it for 6 long years. Handles like a dream, very practical 18 kmpl was the worst ever economy it had returned.
If I keep up my 6 year old Jazz around 120. It returns 19-20 kmpl without being too cautious on the accelerator still.
The premium hatchbacks are any day better than the sub 4 m so called SUV in terms of performance, handling, better fuel economy, cheaper to own and maintain and offers better cabin space hands down. This is not a subjective opinion. It's a FACT.
Nexon likes to disagree with you.
@@varun2250 Nexon is the most practical of the sub 4m segment. But, Altroz has better cabin space and similar boot space and costs cheaper than the Nexon.
Even though the Engine specs are tuned down than the Nexon. The low slung chassis and lesser weight makes it handle better and accelerate faster even with slimmer tyres. It'll also return better fuel economy.
Nexon gets brownie points only on ground clearance and easier ingress and egress in practicality.
@@SyedNizamudeen Fair enough. Although the chassis structural integrity of both is one of the best in their segments, Nexon still has a bigger upper hand in handling of rural roads and safety.
Also the economy figures between Altroz and Nexon is not much. Nexon easily gives 20 - 21.5 on highway.
Jazz Diesel on the practical car with more fuel Efficiency. Figo, Punto, Polo Diesel Cars are Gems 💎 we miss now in india 🇮🇳
Getting good mileage "without being too cautious on the accelerator" that's the key takeaway for Diesels
With petrols that's not the case, drinks very heavily the moment you start to consider some fun
Idk why but it feels so amazing when I see that Tata has kept it in a diesel option still. I want this to be there until 2030 atleast
If you're interested in buying it then you should probably get it soon.... Because this engine too would leave the market
@@TheTwinPost IF THEY COULD SELL DIESEL IN SUVS LIKE SCORPIO YHEN WHY NOT IN HATCHBACKS & SEDANS
I have a 2016 Jazz♥️ Diseal thats driven 180,000 kms, it still dilevers me 25-26 kms/ltr with AC, on highways
I too proud owner of jazz... One of the finest make by honda

I absolutely Agree with you.
Recently I have driven my Altroz (XZ NA 1.2 Petrol 2021) on Samruddhi Expressway from Shirdi to Jalna cruising around 100 to 110 KMPH and i was blown away in terms of Stability , Aerodynamics , Handling and driving experience on such modern Highways.

4 cylinder Diesel manual with sunroof for around 10 lakh is a God gift ❤️. Owner of XM+S Diesel Altroz.
Respect to tata for continuing sole diesel hatchback in country for caring about diesel head even though they are few in number wheras other carmaker completely moved away from diesel
Amen to that! Their commitment is commendable.
This is a gem. Tata has done a fantastic job.

Did you drive on cruise control? My diesel Altroz gives over 24 kmpl from Vapi to Bombay on NH48 with speeds set at 80.
Diesel will always give better mileage
It's hard to even hit 19 on petrol
The TATA Showrooms here in Thane didn't have diesel test drive cars of Altroz and Nexon and they didn't bother making an effort. They instead wanted me to test drive the petrol versions and make up my mind to buy the diesel version. I ended up buy a used Skoda Rapid TDi instead. Enjoying every km every day.
Is it wise to buy diesel cars now?
My 2005 indica still gives a mileage of 25+ kmpl on Highways with 5 passengers.
Even though updraged, no plan to sell this charm.
I have driven altroz petrol from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar around 1490kms with 4 passengers & a dog. Its a very good family car. Mileage we got is 18-20kmpl
Hello Sir,
What about diesel cars to continue after 2027?
Keeping that mind is it okay to go with Altroz diesel now?
I drove Tata Nexon petrol from Shirdi to Nagpur at a continuous speed of 100-110 kmph on cruise control and surprisingly I got an average of 20.67 kmpl and this is not a first time I am getting this average on Samruddhi Mahamarg.
BUT in city, I am not getting an average more than 12 kmpl
Get CNG
Test it Tank to tank, I think you won’t get 20 kmpl for a petrol
Here from nagpur! Loved the video and yes the highway will definitely help the city❤
Nagpur ❤
Beast of Diesel segment 🔥🔥🔥
Lone wolf of diesel hatchbacks!
Most happiest costomer of Altroz with 3yrs experience 😘😘😘😘
Hi, I drove the altroz and it had a lot of flat power delivery is what i felt, to double check I drove new bs6 p2 car of my friend and noise above 3.5k rpm is just not 2023. I have not seen this on your video and can't find a proper Altroz diesel review on the yt.
Is this a sponsor video? As i am seeing lot of tata reviews pls review the issues faced on tata cars as well most common fit/finish(height adjust seat is always touching) and rusting.
Mileage should be tested by driving some good distance not just 100kms. There are cases where altroz diesel easily got 25+ km/Ltr mileage

Which car is good for 6’+ height family in 12 Lakh budget? Even big cars these days are so small on inside than earlier days. Pls suggest.
You can always checkout some SUVs.
Check out the triber
How is the visibility in this car?
And don't you think that it's crash test rating and not a safety rating.
The visibility is quite good.
And, the term for that is 'safety rating'.
Which is the best diesel automatic in budget??
Is CNG or Diesel car buying make sense ?.. if monthly running 500-700 km
For CNG breakeven point would be around 30k km for extra premium you pay, Diesel even more. So it will take 4-5 years to breakeven and then the savings would start. So I would say stick to the Petrol one.
I have tested Altroz NA Petrol tank to tank fuel efficiency on Samriddhi Mahamarg at 120 km/hr with 4 adults and 2 kids and boot filled completely with luggage. It gave fuel efficiency of 16.9 km/l petrol. On the meter it was showing 17.7km/l. AC was running the whole time on 3-4 fan speed during summer.
That's pretty decent, considering you were driving at 120kmph, no?
@@evoIndia yes indeed. I found it quite impressive. I am not much accelerator friendly. But on the Samriddhi Mahamarg it was amazing to drive the Altroz at 110-120 km/hr The driving dynamics of the car are just splendid.
Thanks for the reply. Loved your video
Sir should i buy altroz diesel now?
Can i trust this engine for long time?
no. i regret after buying. but maruti or hyundai for smoother engine performance.
I own a altroz diesel 2022 model and the gears are just worse to shift and it feels totally different each time when I shift gears. About 70% times it used to stuck. It took service guys almost a month and finally changed my gearbox and the problem is not yet sought. Worst service experience btw.
Torquey and powerful by paying additional compared to its petrol counterpart along with fuel efficient and lower price per litre compared to petrol. It's a win win situation.
Tata altroz xe or nissan magnite xe which one? Confused 🙁
Altroz
Plz mention how is refinement and power of bs6 phase 2 diesel compared to older car.
what was the exact tacho reading when you were at 120kmph?
Can anyone please tell how is the breaking in altroz

High speed stability is the best , even at 160+ speed . Car doesn’t complain
I owned altroz diesel 2021 XT I drove sonipat to ballabgarh by Western and then Delhi Mumbai express way it give me 19.8 average AVERGAE SPEED 103 KM/ HR for 168 km.

i got 20km/L milage on my Amaze p 2018 on this highway. calculated by tank to tank. we were 3 adults in car. 100-120 constant speed
5:38 the car is gliding :D
Is it BS6 phase 2 engine??
Yes it is.
What type of turbo is used in the altroz diesel? FGT or VGT?
FGT
My Nissan Terrano diesel also gives 20kmpl on Highway with 100-110 speed, diesel 1.5 engines are perfect balance of power and economy
That's so cool! Thanks for sharing!
Would love to see atleast 2 people in the car... The idea of getting milega with just driver not fair
Drove my Altroz (P) on samrudhi mahamarg in may this year.
We felt Pune-Hyderabad Highway was much much smoother than samruddhi.
The cement surface is too bumpy and noisy.
I am assuming that when you say Mumbai to Nagpur you mean Ghoti village before Nashik (where the expressway will start) to Nagpur?
It is operational from Ghoti Village currently. Once completed, it will start from Amane Village near Kalyan/Bhiwandi. Work is also in progress for connectivity to Mumbai Nashik highway, which in itself is also being expanded.
@@talhaqazi5536 thanks for the update. The expansion of the Bombay Nashik highway has been happening at a slow pace since donkey's year's. Glad to know the Samruddhi road will come to Kalyan.
@saliloza5461 not only Samruddhi, but even the Delhi Mumbai Expressway's SPUR which will connect Vasai to JNPT will cross through Amane. I believe this SPUR will link both the Expressways.

I think we can pull the mileage over 21 too if I drive it at around 2000 rpm
If you drive more conservatively at around 80kmph, the FE might go up.
If you are constant on 80 kmph speed with AC always on and fully loaded car still you can get 22-24 kmpl mileage from Diesel Altroz, I know this bcz I own one (August 2020 Diesel Altroz), I've done multiple road trips and always got mileage between 22-24 kmpl when maintained 80-90 kmph speed
