      Flooding has nothing to do with elevation. It has to do with having a place for the rain water to go.

      @MrGriff305Agreed. High tide & record rainfall would make any storm drainage impossible. Imagine when Hurricanes arrive later in the summer.

      @@tringuyen7519, Florida has retention ponds everywhere. It doesn’t all have to go out to the ocean. Important roadways and commercial districts should be planned so they have a series of places for water to go.

    The Republican legislature just passed a new bill that allows real estate developers to bypass environmental issues. Combined with Gov DeSantis encouraging everyone to move to Florida - without any concern for what it would mean for rents and real estate prices for Floridians.

    Some of us will never come to terms with reality but global warming has a lot to do with this as well. It's only going to get worse. Let's hope it's not too late to turn things around and be humble with changes to reduce carbon pollution.

    Low elevation, flat terrain, high water table, frequent storms, rising sea level. Drain water just has nowhere to go. Depending on which state you live in and political affiliation, global warming is adding more trickery to weather patterns.

      @@billybrown7953Flood insurance in FL is state run bc all insurance companies would go bankrupt insuring flooding in FL. Homeowner insurance in FL rose 200% last year!
