I had this procedure done today and I have an incredible amount of empathy going forward if I hear anyone who has this. The last few days before getting this procedure and getting antibiotics today, Peritonsillar Abscess was the most pain I had ever experienced in my life. I couldn't eat/drink, sleep or talk the last couple days. After this procedure and only 1 day of antibiotics I can eat again and I'm looking forward to finally getting sleep again for the first time in a week. Yay! Thank you doctors for what you do.

I had this done yesterday, from my experience it isn't as bad as you would think. When they did mine they pulled the bad stuff out with a needle and gave me antibiotics.
The pain may vary on a person but it was more of discomfort than pain for me.
After this was done my mouth felt a lot better and I'm so glad I had this done.
The pain afterwards isn't bad at all.
This is my experience and I hope that this helps a little.

I had mine drained on 5/21/20 on left side near where my wisdom teeth would've been. Did it hurt? Yes and I cried. I didn't cough or gag and could manage myself enough to let them drain me 3 times. It sucked but as soon as it was done I felt so much better.

@@AyLiNMuSiC8613 I will start with saying please visit a ENT doctor asap. Go buy antiseptic mouth wash and gargle with it one minute often with your head looking up at 12 o'clock. Get a tiny curved syringe and start spraying water water back there with good pressure.
      Did the antibiotics work? Yes.
      Did anything come back? No
Do I currently see white spots? Yes but they always been there I never noticed.
Do I feel/sense something in that area still? Yes
Do I feel/sense flare ups? Yes but it's not like my er visit back in n May 2020.
Do I feel/sense imbalance in my ear like a ear infection? Sometimes. It goes away after cleaning with a water syringe.

    • @Kaceywebster
      @Kaceywebster 4 года назад

@@AyLiNMuSiC8613 the antibiotics helped very well and I've had almost no tonsillitis since then.
The pain for me stopped about the day after getting it drained.
What I did when I found out I needed mine drained was I realised that my tonsil was very swollen on one side and it was very difficult to talk and swallow anything. So maybe if you feel like you have to get it drained check to see if you have any symptoms, but it's better safe than sorry.
Else if you leave it too late it may burst in your throat.
      Wishing you the best luck.

I had an Peritonsillar abscess 4 years ago. Didn't take my doctor seriously at the time and didn't go to the hospital until 5 days later. During this time the Peritonsillar abscess grew so much that I could hardly open my mouth. Swallowing was no longer possible and hearing on the affected side was no longer possible either. Unfortunately, the anesthetic spray didn't numb anymore because everything was so inflamed and I had the most painful experience in my life. I advise anyone who has an abscess to get to the hospital on time. After that I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days because my inflammation values exceeded the scale. every day there were 3 drops of 500ml antibiotics. I don't want to experience that again

Same here, I'm in Japan and have been trying to use OTC medication like an aspirin equivalent, and acetaminophen with throat sprays and anything that I could find. After 8 days of suffering I ended up in the ER because I was having trouble breathing and my nasal airways were blocked as well from the abscess. That was the final straw.
They want to keep me for 5 more days at the hospital and a $3,500+ bill is incoming.. No insurance, but would be even worse if back in the states. Lol
They've drained it twice so far, but it's pretty darn persistent. First drainage I filled 2 1/2 pans lol. It was absolutely massive, it looked like black sludge along with a ton of pus. Super gnarly and it smelled lovely. 😬
I hope they don't have to drain more, but it's still hard to swallow as the day goes on... Definitely a ton of relief compared to when I arrived!
Just talked to the doc this evening and she confirmed they're going to have to drain again a 3rd time, potentially more times after that. 😕
Praying that changes when we meet tomorrow morning. They barely numb me up and start slicing and digging with their tools. Hurts like hell! lol

He recommended taking tonsils out I didn't have to give answer right then. I see him in two months. I have a couple questions for you like if it is cancer how fast can it spread to blood or anywhere? What is non puss tonsil cyst called? And last would you also recommend to remove both? I am 38 yrs old. I know that getting the tonsil cyst out and sending it to lab would be like a biopsy but if it turns out to be cancer how would I know if it spread? If you can find time to answer any of these questions I would be so grateful
