The scene in Episode 2 with the veteran clone trooper begging for credits made me sad. The clones were stripped of their free will, left with no home, phased out of service, and left to die out. I’m just glad Obi-Wan was nice enough to spare some credits, despite their role in the purge.
He looked like 501st. I got so sad. The clones were victims as well and palpatine threw them away like nothing. Even if he did do order 66, he is nothing now. Makes that fee second scene so powerful but sad.
Almost everything in the trailers happened in the first two episodes, other than a few shots of the inquisitors and Vader, which means for most of the rest of the series we have almost no idea what could happen
We will find our reva was one of younglings that survived. Then by end of season somehow she will turn back to light side if force and save obi wans live and get killed by vader in a tear jerker!
I don't know if you've noticed this @StarWarsExplained, but Leia and Obi-wan having a relationship gives a lot more weight to her naming her son, Ben. And her exclamation of "Ben Kenobi!? Where is he?!" in Episode IV.
Yes. Absolutely. The first time the two of them interacted, we hear her call him “Ben! Help!” Means so much. Honestly I don’t understand why this show is called Obi-Wan. He is Ben at this point. That’s the point.
I thought when she sends the message through R2 she says obi wan and references him helping her father…. Wouldn’t she had mentioned the personal interaction they had from when he saved her when she was little??
@@rockcatinc.4814 I’ve seen people saying this but I didn’t bump on that at all. Leia is a senator at that point. She is making a formal request for aid. She calls him general and she refers to his service in the war. She only calls him Ben when she’s talking about him more casually to Luke later on in the movie.
Coming into this show, My biggest worry was the Reason Why Kenobi would need to leave Tatooine and his protection of Luke... I felt that they REALLY needed to have a good reason... Thankfully, I was VERY Happy with the Reasoning behind him leaving... I was also happy that he had to be thoroughly Convinced to leave. Great Stuff!
I personally thought it was on a shaky basis. For one, Reva was really reaching with her plan and it was even more unbelievable it worked because the Organa's could have easily hired bounty hunters or something like that since there isn't really a reason why anyone would suspect Leia's true identity or force sensitivity.
@@annikalapudas9742 Reva knew that Kenobi had a Close Working relationship with Bail from the Clone Wars... so Its a good plan if you are trying to get Kenobi to answer his friends call for help. As for the Bounty Hunters, I Really Doubt the Organa's (Who are Crazy Rich) wanted to trust their litter girl to a Bounty Hunter that would easily exploit the fact that the Organa's daughter was the bounty. Leia's force-sensitivity has nothing to do with the episode... not sure what your going on about with that.
@@annikalapudas9742 I think Kenobi even suggested to Bail to get a bounty hunter, but I assume he wanted Kenobi because a regular bounty hunter wouldn't be as careful
Did anyone else catch that the kid being smuggled out with his mother and was implied to be force sensitive to Corellia was named Corran in the credits? EU future Rogue Squadron ace pilot and force sensitive Corellian, Corran Horn, now canon?
The Veteran Clone scene made me realize that Obi Wan never knew the truth about the clones Inhibitor chip. In his eyes, he still see's the soldiers that betrayed them out of the blue.
Think that was more the trooper was one of the 501st and he was worried he would recognise him as they were the regiment that spent the most time with Obi Wans regiment
Loved it so much! I love the way they handled Owen’s character, and seeing the clone veteran was another welcome surprise! I’m looking forward to seeing more of Kenobi’s arc moving forward!
When Obi-Wan is telling Leia she reminds him of someone he once knew, I know it's meant to show that she reminds him of Padme but i also saw it as she reminded him as Satine as well since she was also very stubborn but perhaps im looking too deep into this lol
Oh damn... That line now hits on two levels and is even more painful! It also makes more sense because I feel like Obi-Wan was more likely to banter with Satine than with Padmé.
That was my thought as well, that description could easily apply to both. I still hold out hope that they will get around to making a series set during that particular Mandalorian conflict.
I feel like the Grand Inquisitor being seriously injured is a way for them to explain how he was defeated in rebels, because I remember people wondering how the Grand Inquisitor was defeated but when the other inquisitors show up how they're more of a threat than the Grand Inquisitor, mind you this never bothered me in particular because I feel like Kanan defeated him with circumstance rather than being physically more powerful than him, and the series never really downplayed his power and authority.
I felt that Grand Inquistor powers came from leadership skills rather than combat. At least that was how I always saw it. Anakin was the best fighter of the Jedi but other Jedi were above him in leadership skills
@@nobleskywalker4639 To add to that, GI was a Jedi temple guard, he wasnt even a Jedi master or anything. Those guys were mostly just there for show and barely ever saw combat. He is menacing, because he understands and hates Jedi so intensely and makes the perfect hunter for their kind.
@@Goldenman89327 The Clone Wars only last about 3 years. Before that the guards spend centuries in peace with only maybe an occasional fringe case. During the clone wars they also didnt really deal with rogue jedi, they dealt with angry civilians protesting the Jedi or with escorting prisoners who were helpless already. The actual military police was of course the Coruscant Guard who did all the dirty work. And I am not talking about the Senate Guard, the boys in blue, I am talking about the clone force. Ultimately Jedi temple guards were only trained to a certain level. They are like the Jedi rejects who werent good enough to climb the ladder past a certain point. In fact that is one of the reasons the GI resented the Jedi.
@@yoursonisold8743 The Temple Guards still had to be trained well enough to reach the rank of Knight, though. That's why he was such a threat to Kanan, who was only a former Padawan and had only recently picked up his training again. Most of the rest had even less training, though, which is why they were no match for Ahsoka nor Maul.
I think what I enjoyed most about these episodes is how much Obi-Wan reminds me of Luke in TLJ. Trauma and guilt over past failure really entrenches you, buries you. Here’s to hoping we see Obi-Wan learn that failure is the greatest teacher.
Hopefully we’ll get to see the bridge of where Obi Wan is now as a character and how he got to point where we see him in Rebels when he Maul meet for the last time where Kenobi mentioned to Maul they he (Obi Wan) has learned and grown from the person he was years ago.
Man, you are so right about the girl who plays Leia - she's fantastic. I could hear Carrie in some of her lines, and a little Padme too. She was pitch perfect!
Reva feels a bit one tone so far but I imagine we will learn more with time. The sudden stabbing of the inquisitor feels a bit weird, but a sudden duel between the two might have been too much for the scene and I don't really see her Force Pushing him down the platform so I'll just assume he somehow survives. Maybe that armor isn't just for show. It'd be a bit weird to bring out the Grand Inquisitor just for that, could have been like... 1st brother or another inquisitor said to be high ranking. Though I find it kind of funny that this scene looks more final as a death than his actual death in rebels lol
I kind of have an unpopular opinion about the whole Reva stabbing GI thing. To me it makes sense because GI would have definitely overpowered her in a duel, he was more focused on capturing Kenobi, so it makes sense why the quick stab from Reva would have worked.
@@ihatecorpsehusband7147 Yeah that's what I think too. A duel could have worked and served a similar purpose (her rebellious attitude made them miss their chance etc) and she would likely have lost. But it would have needed to drag a bit for obi wan to escape, leading to an unsatisfactory duel. Or he would have overpowered her in seconds and would likely have rushed for obi wan which would also be awkward. So her sneak attack does work, even if it is surprising when you know that the GI is supposed to be alive later on. But if you don't, it's actually not bothersome at all.
@@kdub3890 Doesn't have to be that specific. Vader survived worse, a lot of characters survived worse, he can just have a communication device to request assistance, like "send help" button and they tend to him.
I think he's not actually the Grand Inquisitor but someone who marked his face out of respect for the GI (and therefore, this Inquisitor really did die). This would neatly explain why he has a human face, because he actually was a human or a similar species.
I know it's a movie/story but she really was uncatchable in the woods huh? 🤣, I'd say they needed better screenplay to at least make it seem more fair, it really felt like the bounty hunters weren't even running.
@@LyricsFred Hard to show realistically a ten year old girl evading adults but it seemed like the goons were extremely incompetent in going around branches haha.
@@LyricsFred That was the only thing that bothered me about these episodes. The worlds slowest bounty hunters versus the worlds fastest 10 year old, she also outran Obi.
@@collecter343 I would have added more tree branches with really small spaces, that AT LEAST would have realistically slow them down. And also, in this universe "non lethal" mode exists.
Seeing Kenobi give the credits to the clone I felt so bad and seeing his face when he looks at the clone damn . One thing I like is when he was fighting I did like the idea that he struggles against the enemies
that clone was from the 501st as well, meaning he was one of the clones that attacked the jedi temple. obi-wan knew what he did, but he didn't care. he was still a living being who was suffering and needed help, so obi-wan pulled a jedi move and helped him anyway
I just wanted to say visually, Alderaan had a very mid 60's futurism look to it, but with a McQuarrie flavoring which I think is absolutely perfect. The Artists know where to pull from and where to put it. Top notch stuff.
I loved the beginning. We see Obi-wan at his his lowest point following Ep. 3. I absolutly adored the girl playing Leia. She definitely captured the spirit of Carrie Fisher.
@@eduardoandrescontrerasrome6703 She act the way she does, because Bail has been way too over-protective of her, just like Owen was to Luke. She even complains at one point she is never allowed to leave the planet.
I have two most favorite moments. The first was hearing Obi-Wan say, “The time of the Jedi is over.” This line echoes what Luke told Rey in Ep.8. It also shows just how similar the story arcs of Luke and Obi-Wan truly are. Number two is a mystery that will have to go unsolved for now. What was the name of the little girl who had initially dressed up as Leia?
I like his BD-1 shirt My thoughts on the episodes First one was good setting up the tone and rest of the series Second episode was decent Having Kenobi being on a different world rescuing younger leia with her in terms of personality Free Spirited And maybe reckless
I absolutely loved this, felt like movie quality! The actress for Leia is so good, and I'm definitely feeling the 3rd sister's presence just because of how much she knows. Like how does she know Anakin is Vader?! And also the clip of Vader at the end was so shockingly detailed. Really makes you appreciate how much damage he took. And also, it will be interesting to see what happens with the Grand Inquisitor to get him to survive. Kenobi himself is so broken, reminds me of Luke in Episode 8. But Kenobi is really discovering that Star Wars theme of hope, and I think that will carry him through what lays ahead
Reva is almost certainly one of the younglings in the opening scene and I wonder what will be the catalyst for her hatred for Kenobi. Maybe she overheard him being conflicted about fighting Anakin/Vader, which would also be reason for her to know Vader's Identity. That said, it would be a bit of a stretch... I hope they do something.
*Most likely Kenobi’s beacon that swayed Jedi survivors away from the Jedi Temple, which she would obviously deem the reason why she was unable to be saved from being tortured into an Inquisitor*
Yes. And reva will turn back to light side of force and save kenobi from vader and get killed by vader in tear jerker. She feels betrayed by obi wan for some reason! Thats why she wants him so bad. I. Her eyes he left them to defend themselves
Off to a good start so far and it does feel a bit more cinematic than Mando and Boba. Ewan was great as always, but the unexpected standout for me was Leia. While I was already on board with this show at the start, involving Leia and her being the reason he leaves definitely surprised me. The actress who plays her is knocking it out of the park and so far I can buy her growing up into young Carrie Fisher.
@@gentlemanlygeeky4088 i thought the girl was terrible actor. Sounded like she was reading her lines off a paper. And that chase scene was embarrassing
the scenes with Leia and Kenobi makes the rescue scene in A New Hope where Luke tells her he is there with Ben Kenobi. Her reaction to the name makes a LOT more sense now.
The review I've been waiting for! I really liked the 2 episodes, crazy to think we're already a third through. Loved seeing Alderaan and the Organa family. I guess I liked Reva more than most people. I wasn't crazy about Kumail's character. That ending to episode 2 was crazy.
A couple things I noticed: Isn't one of the younglings Reva? It would make perfect sense to show that scene at the start When Reva is using the force on the rooftops it uses the same sound effect as when you use the force in Jedi: Fallen Order; a really cool audio cue to link both properties together
@@MrFireSpy Saw someone suggest that she's angry that Obi-wan set a warning beacon to warn Jedi away from the temple... which from her perspective effectively meant leaving her to die or be turned.
The scene with the veteran clone is soo important for kenobi. Everyone is saying how frightened he looked but its also that realisation that they were used and now, like the jedi, they were cast aside and thrown out with little to no recognition. Obi-wan wouldn't have realised until that point that the stormtroopers were not clones. Also note how obi-wan asks for help from Qui-gon and he offers it by having the clone ask for money. Its re-teaching Obi-Wan compassion, even to his enemies and the people who have done him wrong
I enjoyed your discussion of Haja Estree. You made me realize that this character draws parallels to Han Solo’s character. They are both motivated by money, profiting from their involvement in the situation, but also aligned with the good guys, and show bravery and loyalty when it counts.
I really enjoyed both episodes. I’ve seen so many questions even though the show just started, just like with mando, those questions will be answered given time. I imagine that if Reva is the youngling in the temple then she probably knows Obiwan and Anakin. While escaping she could’ve possibly seen him and a clone referring to him as “Lord Vader”, as he was given the name at this point, potentially explaining how she knows that they are one and the same person. That knowledge might also explain her drive to find Kenobi as to gain favor with Vader. Grand Inquisitor stabbing was pretty bizarre, but I’m sure he lives considering rebels 🤷♂️
The force sensitive young boy that’s with his mother is named Corran. And they are going to Corellia. That’s a nice Easter egg for all us who loved the X-wing series.
My hope for next episode for Obi Wan Kenobi is that after Kenobi drops off Leia back to Alderran , he keeps a low profile from the Inquisitors and goes back to protecting Luke, I want see the build up to a New Hope in this Series.
I thought the same of Reva. That she was a youngling. They definitely gonna bring back as a regression more of those younglings escaping. You think we gonna run into a quick Grogu cameo?
I don’t get why they apparently “killed” the Grand Inquisitor. Also how did he just totally not foresee that Reva would backstab him? Not very perceptive or impressive. Wish we could actually get to see him be “Grand”. 😂
I really hope they clarify that right away in part 3. No way they retcon rebels that hard. But how many times can people get the Qui-Gon treatment and live nowadays?
The shot of the younglings running away, the battle between the Jedi and the clones raging on around them, all while Palpatine’s words “EXECUTE ORDER 66.” blares out on repeat gave me chills. It sounded like a chant. An overwhelming command. Really hammered home that every clone is only a brainwashed puppet forced to slaughter the generals they called friends. And that made me teary eyed.
When Obi-Wan was ruminating about the past with Leia, I initially thought he was talking about Padme. After watching the episode a second time, I realized that he could have also been talking about the love of his own life, Satine.
Had the same thought, but following simple storytelling tools and rules. Padme is the only answer. Especially when the next time Ben and Leia have a moment, the conversation shifts to Anakin. Parallel.
@@eyeballpaul700 shame on you!! Im predicting reva will turn good and save obi wans life by end of season. She ll die saving obi wans life from vader. I want my prediction on record
The original Star Wars was partially a commentary about war, specifically the USA involvement in the Vietnam War. The homeless Clone Vet was a nice homage to the veterans who returned home... without a welcome, in some cases without a home or family and sometimes tragically lived on the streets just living day by day. As you peel away the onion that is this show, it is actually has deep social commentary wrapped in Star Wars lore.
The original Star Wars trilogy was always a closer analogy to World War II with its clear good vs. evil narrative, evil Emperor, and freakin' Stormtroopers. The Clone Wars are much closer to being your Vietnam War parallel, well if Lyndon Johnson was actually setting himself up to become Emperor of America behind the scenes...which then makes the Clone Trooper vet scene even more appropriate.
My guess is Reva attacking The Grand Inquisitor is a device to put a time limit for her. She'll say Obi Wan did it but when she realises he survived, she becomes more desperate to capture Obi Wan. Bringing him to Vader is likely the only thing that might keep her from being executed when The Grand Inquisitor wakes up.
This was amazing and I wanted to see more. It went beyond my expectations. For some reason I really knew that Leia was going to appear in the show. I really liked how they made her so much like her mother, but also the personality of Leia. That is what I would expect of her as a young girl. The way Obi-wan felt and his losing of the force and becoming who he became really makes sense. He is exactly where someone who lost would have felt. I am very excited to see the reminder of this show. I think one of the elements I have been waiting for is to see Obi-wan between the Prequels and Original trilogy on the screen for a long time.
The refusal of Kenobi to help Bail Organa (as much as he feels being in hiding is important) is kind of reminiscent to The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon rather indifferently says to Shmi Skywalker, "I didn't come here to free slaves" (but is nonetheless interested in Anakin due to his seeming potential as a Jedi).
I think the main reason the GI was stabbed is they want him out of the picture for the rest of the story to give Reva more spotlight, then in the final episode it shows he survived and reveals Revas treachery to Vader, only to for him to probably be impressed as that’s a very Sith thing to do.
One of the most beautiful scenes in Obi-Wan Kenobi's premiere was when Bail reassured Leia that despite not sharing their blood, she was an Organa in every way, and that her actions would far mean more than her lineage. It's a beautiful tie back to the "Some things are stronger than blood" idea from The Rise of Skywalker, and the same understanding and grace that Leia and Luke will extend to Rey.
Was the Clone Veteran played by Temura Morison? It certainly sounded like him. I liked our look at the Organas at home -- Leia mentions seeing a ship of an Aquilan Ranger, whixch is a reference to the early drafts, where they were auxiliary to the Jedi. The scene between Leia and Bail on the balcony reminded me of the scene in the new Dune film where Leto tells Paul he wanted to be a pilot and not a Duke.
I loved how they start out with the flashback summary of the clone wars. Nearly everything you need to know about what brough Obi-Wan to where and who he is gets presented clearly, and nicely builds the case for the trauma and depression he's dealing with. Only thing I wish had happened was a clip from Clone Wars where Satine dies in his arms. Not tht he needs more tragedy, but the tie in would have been nice. The scenes with Little Leia was a joy to watch. The scene with the clone trooper was excellent. Ewan really pulled off the fear, sorrow and compassion as he realized the trooper either didn't recognize him or didn't care, that his armor suggests he was one of Anakin's troops, and that he was one more person Obi-Wan had failed. I admit when the Grand Inquisitor got stabbed my first thought was "Okay, Alex. Explain this!" but I suspect he'll survive, but have to get some cybernetics installed.
It was incredible. With the gut pinch of Order 66 at the start & seeing the 501st!!!! I never thought we would see this much of young Leia & I never expected that I would adore her instantly. Perfect casting. Perfect portrayal which added so much emotionally for me. Add in a tiny cameo by my boys C3-p0 & R2 which got me squealing. The cameo by Tem was perfect & Ewan just... I didn't expect to be this thrilled by it all. It was all perfect. Even my son said so & he's harder to please than I am.
I have really liked the first 2 episodes. I just had a conversation with friends who hate it so far and I was so frustrated because as I said I am liking it. I am especitally loving Ewan McGregor and all the Leia stuff. It was so nice to come here and hear a positive review that is inline with my thoughts and feelings. I know that I am not alone in this world.
One of many things is for sure, I'm so happy that we got a new Obi-Wan theme from mr Williams himself! Also: has anyone else played the spiderman ps4 game and recognise the first notes of the horn to be the exact same even in tempo as obi wan's?
Having just finished my paper on US media involving the Vietnam War and writing about the Umbara arc, that scene with the homeless 501st Vet hit a lot harder
Flea himself being on Alderaan kidnapping Leia is an Easter egg of itself because Alderaan was mentioned in a RHCP song (Californication). That said, I loved the first two episodes and I like how it feels like Last Jedi meets Logan. Can’t wait to see how this plays out.
This 2-part intro to the series was perfect! We got everything, awesome shots of Order 66 that looked better than the sequel trilogy, a different side of Kenobi, world building, a (brand new?) planet that looks amazing, seeing the revelation of Anaking being alive for Kenobi, and even a shock Grand Inquisitor "death"! Im so glad with everything, especially a very good reason for Ben to leave Tatooine and not hanging about too long on the same planet
the stabbing surprised me, for sure, but I feel like the Grand Inquisitor could survive that. I mean, we've seen dark side wielders survive worse. The thing that surprised me the most, I think, was Reva knowing who Vader was. I was under the assumption that was a closely guarded secret.
It was just a closely guarded secret for Obiwan. Apparently, everyone else and their grandmother knew who Vader really was. FDSW not written by Filoni and/or Favreau with Lucas.
She probably has some force ability to tap into people's minds. Could be the "power" that the Grand Inquisitor says allowed her to rise through the ranks.
I've been watching more and more of your videos lately and you my friend have gained a subscriber, in my opinion you have the best star wars youtube channel. 💯
I haven't watched it yet, but was it made unambiguously clear that he was actually stealing? Maybe being allowed to take some of the meat for personal use is a perk of working as a butcher.
First Thundercat, and now Flea. Somebody at Lucasfilm really likes bassists! Also, interesting that Reva knows that Vader is Anakin. The number of people privy to that can be counted on one hand!
Here's my big question: How does Reva (sp?) know Anakin is Vader? I thought that was something only Vader/Palpatine knew (well, at least those "for" the empire)?
Yes, Satine was the first person to cross my mind too given her “stubbornness”, but after thinking it through on the fly I concluded he had to have meant Padme.
I imagine Reva stabbing the Grand Inquisitor is going to be the first step in her down fall. He won't stand for it and will likely seek some sort of revenge once he's recovered. I can imagine him striking her down unknowingly at a moment where she would be close to getting Kenobi or after Kenobi defeats her, leaves and she is left to face the Grand Inquisitor's wrath. Really enjoyed these first two episodes and can't wait to see where this goes next :)
I bet reva will turn back to light side of force and save kenobi s life and get killed by darth vader saving him. Or somethiing like that. Star wars has habit of making the main villain turn good.
@@Johnnyrocks34 I must admit the thought did cross my mind as well. But given how much Reva has been built up to be cruel even by inquisitor standards, I hope they don't try to redeem her. Instead maybe have Vader strike her down for trying to kill Kenobi which would have deprived him the revenge he desires. The Grand Inquisitor sort of hinted that Kenobi is not theirs to hunt in the first episode, but she is so desperate to gain favour she may fly too close to the sun and pay the price for it.
@@Johnnyrocks34 Indeed :) I don't dislike her either, think it's a bit too early to judge the character yet. Should be interesting where this series goes in general.
I noticed so much more on the second viewing! The clone veteran is wearing 501st blue armor, Anakin's legion, which Obi Wan had to recognize, and it seems like the clone should have recognized him too. And when Haja (who is awesome!) gave him the card, it sounded like he was part of a network. Early rebellion? It reminded me of Cassian's speech in Rogue One about them all being criminals wanting to make amends.
I loved the dichotomy with home Force sensitive and blunt (to borrow a 40K term) imperials treat the power playing: imperials are human pretending to be Sith in their power plays but are ultimately still within the military structure and aren’t shooting each other when things go sideways: the inquisitors are dark Jedi pretending to be imperials and seem to fall back onto out and out “backstabbing” (or front stabbing as the case may be) far more easily, as befitting their characters.
When it was announced the show's release would be delayed by two days, I wondered if that was so the Grand Inquisitor's eyes could be made their appropriate yellow/red. It seems I was right, and I'm very grateful they made that correction.
Don’t jump to conclusions, it probably wasn’t for that specific reason. I assume they did that so the show could line up better with Star Wars celebration
Well either way, they did like a complete overhaul on em. The creases in his head seem more noticeable, the color of his eyes are that of the Sith yellow/red, and then his teeth are actually sharp. 👏
There's another possible origin story for Reva... she's a product of Project Harvester and not a former youngling/Jedi. In pre-release info Moses Ingram said that Reva thinks/feels that she should be the Grand Inquisitor (GI). Reva's hatred for the GI could come from her belief that she is true Dark Side having been raised in it, unlike the other Inquisitors who started as Jedi and had to be turned to the Dark Side. We also learn that the other Inquisitors look down upon her as "the least of" them. Therefore she must be different from the other Inquisitors. Her abilities got her out "of the gutter." The kids from Project Harvester didn't come from the Jedi Order.
Given how little we know about Pau'an anatomy and Vader's habit of chopping bits off Inquisitors, I just assumed he got some prosthetics. As it's a midriff stab it's more easily hidden than the Nineth Sister's foot, so it doesn't create any sort of trouble down the line.
I loved seeing little Leia. shes such a joy to see *w*. also anyone else get a Gotham City vibe in episode 2? seriously the 3rd sister pulled a Full Batman pose
Loved these episodes so much. Ewan's acting when learning that Anakin is alive was just perfection. The GI looked a lot better in some of the Daiyu scenes by showing his teeth and yellow eyes, and it felt like they picked the worst shots of him to use for the trailers. Also loved the dynamic between Ben and Leia which was completely unexpected. We're only two episodes in and I absolutely can't wait to watch ANH again when it's all over for all of the added context and weight. I did think that Reva using Leia as bait just because Ben and Bail were once pals was a biiiiit of a stretch. Also, wouldn't that technically implicate Bail as a Jedi sympathizer and thus blow his cover in the senate?
That's a good point regarding Bail. I guess it would be two birds with one stone? Or maybe Bail is just so influential that even being a Jedi Sympathizer isn't enough to sway people against him...
Flea yanked me, albeit briefly, right out of the show. I also thought that when Leia saw the Kenobi hologram on the sleeping guys wrist and immediately jumped to the conclusion that she was kidnapped to lure Kenobi was a bit of a stretch. Not to mention the conman's complete 180 to risking his life for Leia and Kenobi. Unless he comes up later to reveal a more substantial reason than 'just because'
Those things bothered me a bit too, also how either Leia is the worlds fastest 10 y/o or everyone else is stupidly slow. Enjoyable show so far though. I even hope that Grand Inquisitor is dead. That would explain his fat head in this show versus his appearance in Rebels... and the fact the Rebels guy had a yellow lightsaber I believe.
Fennec Shand got shot in the stomach and then came back with robo-guts so it's not that hard to imagine the Grand Inquisitor will get an easy fix up. What I'm wondering about is how Reeva is gonna continue as an Inquisitor after that level of stupidity, she attacked her superior and let Obi-Wan escape in the process, I'd assume that would lead to instant execution for her. I wonder how she's gonna worm her way out of it.
Just to throw a guess out there, maybe she will be on the run herself. Her idea would be to find Kenobi and capture him before the Grand Inquisitor found her. If she could get Kenobi, she would probably assume that Vader would not allow anything to happen to her.
It's interesting how Obi-Wan's internal conflict is the direct opposite of what it is in most other content in this era (John Jackson Miller's novel, and The Journals of Ben Kenobi)
I was actually unsure if obiwan was talking about Padme or Satine when he said leah reminded him of some one but I guess it makes most sense for it to be Padme
Highly doubt the grand inquisitor is dead. I think it just seals Reva’s fate and the consequences she’s gonna face for her actions later on. I think Reva is fascinating, even someone as full of anger & hate as Trilla wasn’t even that bold.
haven't actually seen anything of Luke yet except through a pair of macro-binoculars. Do you think a round or two of Beggars Canyon in a T-16 with Biggs is a bit much? 😀😀
The only thing that urked me was that Reva killed the Grand Inquisitor , the only problem it creates a continuity error because we see the Grand Inquisitor in the first season of Star Wars Rebels.
I know people were anxious about the grand inquisitor’s portrayal in this show, but I found Rupert Friend’s acting to be very compelling and I really dig his version of the inquisitor. Maybe even a little more than the animated version..
The scene in Episode 2 with the veteran clone trooper begging for credits made me sad. The clones were stripped of their free will, left with no home, phased out of service, and left to die out. I’m just glad Obi-Wan was nice enough to spare some credits, despite their role in the purge.

Seriously the fact that she knew who Luke was talking about has bugged me for thirty years
I got that as soon as we finished the episode. I love how they give extra weight to lines in the OT with each story that precedes it. Great writing.
@@annikalapudas9742 i think her plan is meant to be completly outlandish. thats why everybode gets mad at her for it and doesnt expect it to work.

Well, he knows that Palpatine told the clones to betray the jedi. He probably doesn't blame the clones but Sheev.
I wonder... if that old veteran were told that was a Jedi, would he still have an urge to get up and attack him?
@@Daniel-Strain based on star wars rebels yes
I think that trooper was Alpha 17.

Help a veteran get a hot meal?? I thought for a second that the trooper might recognize "General Kenobi."....Help a veteran get a hot meal??
When Obi-Wan is telling Leia she reminds him of someone he once knew, I know it's meant to show that she reminds him of Padme but i also saw it as she reminded him as Satine as well since she was also very stubborn but perhaps im looking too deep into this lol
Oh damn... That line now hits on two levels and is even more painful! It also makes more sense because I feel like Obi-Wan was more likely to banter with Satine than with Padmé.
That's exactly what I thought.
I thought this too!
That was my thought as well, that description could easily apply to both. I still hold out hope that they will get around to making a series set during that particular Mandalorian conflict.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that...
I love Obi-Wan having to babysit Leia. It’s such a nice and funny relationship and I think it adds a lot more to them naming Ben Solo.
Also the fact that when Luke tells her he brought BEN Kenobi, she doesn't ask him who the heck he's talking about.
Of course it does! Great take!

I hope she’s gone after this last episode
This might be the most SW Explained thing ever, but the thing that excited me the most was the appearance of a Pegasus Tri-Wing in episode 1.
Bruh, what? The Grand Inquisitor was the only one shown to be a threat. Kanan wipes the floor with the others.
I think my favorite part was Obi-Wan’s reaction to hearing the Darth Vader was alive. Ewan nails the reaction of despair and frightened emotions.
A true "I hate it when he does that...." moment.
I hadn't heard any rumors about Leia. When it cut to Alderaan I got so excited! I'm so glad they kept her out of the trailers.
She was pitch perfect!
i liked her quick replies to that brat of a cousin.
@@KalaamNozalys I expect to have some kind of species-specific reveal for a get-out-of-death free card.
It makes more sense why Leia would name her son Ben now
Little Leia running has the ability to confuse any pursuer, including jedi.

My thoughts on the episodes
First one was good setting up the tone and rest of the series
Second episode was decent
Having Kenobi being on a different world rescuing younger leia with her in terms of personality Free Spirited
And maybe reckless

While I was already on board with this show at the start, involving Leia and her being the reason he leaves definitely surprised me. The actress who plays her is knocking it out of the park and so far I can buy her growing up into young Carrie Fisher.

Kenobi episodes knocked it, out the park.
Saw them twice already and so good start to finish.
I mean, Maul survived being cut in half. The Grand Inquisitor is fine.
That’s great insight 👍🏾
You fools fell for it!! That wasn't the Grand Inquisitor; it was his twin, The Brand Invisitor!!
bruh that opening scene was so dope
I thought of it as he was so overconfident, it didn't even cross his mind that she would even try
Yeah they're gonna have to explain that ... considering he dies fighting Kanan and Ezra in Rebels.
I really hope they clarify that right away in part 3. No way they retcon rebels that hard. But how many times can people get the Qui-Gon treatment and live nowadays?
"You underestimate my power" comes to mind.
He’s almost certainly not dead.
Parallel.

Owen had balls of steel lol
Grand quizzy is alive. There was seens in the trailer that wasn't in the episodes.
The kid who played Leia totally nailed the character.
the trailers show the grand inquisitor in scenes we haven't seen yet, like the scene in the fortress inquisitorius, for example. he's 100% alive
So so good!!! The story line, the script, the acting performances, the visuals, even the music was absolutely top notch!!! Can't wait for more
The refusal of Kenobi to help Bail Organa (as much as he feels being in hiding is important) is kind of reminiscent to The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon rather indifferently says to Shmi Skywalker, "I didn't come here to free slaves" (but is nonetheless interested in Anakin due to his seeming potential as a Jedi).
100% Tem Morrison

Obi wan saying “I’m not who I used to be” was such a sad moment. You can see how broken he is. Mustafar still haunts him

Good point, Proto-maul.
Here's my big question: How does Reva (sp?) know Anakin is Vader? I thought that was something only Vader/Palpatine knew (well, at least those "for" the empire)?
We don't know yet how she knows, but Tarkin and Thrawn both connected the dots. Jocasta Nu learned of it, too, but Vader killed her soon after.
I thought it was nice that Obi-Wan talked about Padme to Little Leia though if anything she was more like Anakin than Padme.
Ngl, my first thought was that she reminded him of Anakin. She’s got a little of both in them.
I thought when Obiwan was saying Leia reminded him of an old friend he was referring to Padme but I saw somewhere it could be Satine
I think it was meant to be Padme, he seems to pause like he wants to say it’s her mother
@@goblinsrevenge yea. We ll see where it goes. I dont hate her charactrr like everyone else. Need someone like thar
@@Johnnyrocks34 Indeed :) I don't dislike her either, think it's a bit too early to judge the character yet. Should be interesting where this series goes in general.
@@goblinsrevenge im surprised she s getting so much hate. I thought she played it pretty bad ass!
It reminded me of Cassian's speech in Rogue One about them all being criminals wanting to make amends.
maybe if this actually is the real GI then he will be slimmed down because he lost so much blood lol to keep him alive
Maybe it's because he's *not* actually the real Grand Inquisitor...
I loved that Obi-Wan looked at his saber as if he was thinking "I hope this thing still works"
A lot of people should apologize to the Grand Inquisitor, he looks amazing
Better than in the trailers for sure
When it was announced the show's release would be delayed by two days, I wondered if that was so the Grand Inquisitor's eyes could be made their appropriate yellow/red. It seems I was right, and I'm very grateful they made that correction.
Don’t jump to conclusions, it probably wasn’t for that specific reason. I assume they did that so the show could line up better with Star Wars celebration
Well either way, they did like a complete overhaul on em. The creases in his head seem more noticeable, the color of his eyes are that of the Sith yellow/red, and then his teeth are actually sharp. 👏
@@charger9105 But didn't Celebration start the same day the episodes came out on Disney+?
That force sensitive kid on Dayu was Corran Horn!!
He straight up says “if i knew who you were i would’ve blah blah blah”. He’s a larper of course he’d geek out at a real jedi
I think that was Needles from Back to the Future.
Thank you so much for the review! I've been waiting for this all day and I know how busy you guys are. Enjoy the celebration!
Great start to this series
Leia's actress is perfectly cast. we were all worried about young luke, but young leia is a wonderful surprise
haven't actually seen anything of Luke yet except through a pair of macro-binoculars.
That’s what am going to do I am going to watch Rebels.
Thanks for giving daily videos during celebration. I'm sure it's exhausting and also taking some time from enjoying the con itself
I know people were anxious about the grand inquisitor’s portrayal in this show, but I found Rupert Friend’s acting to be very compelling and I really dig his version of the inquisitor. Maybe even a little more than the animated version..
His head looked like a fish bowl and his voice and accent was just silly. Not even close to the GI in Rebels.
