I agree. Baylan is very interesting. I find it curious how he seems to still have some attachment to the order. Seeing as he was shameful that he would be forced to kill Ahsoka. He hasn't called himself or Shin Sith, and with the orange sabers, I'm very curious where they align.
@@flochforster6892 i wonder if they tried to bleed their crystals and weren’t successful in bringing all the negative emotions into the crystal, resulting in orange instead of red
Never did I expect to see Ryder Azati and Jai Kell in live action. Yet again Droid characters managed to carry some heavy emotion, the look that Huyang throws to Ahsoka when she's talking about how she left the order just carried such sadness. I love how they almost immediately addressed the force sensitivity question and in a very clever and amusing way. Much like with Obi-Wan in episode 3 it seems Sabine is a bit out of practice and I am all for that especially if it means we get to see a training montage similar to the 5th episode of tales of the Jedi. I have no complaints about the casting of Mary as Hera. It only took me 40 seconds to accept her and a large part of that was her interactions with Chopper. @@v-squared @tomridway66 that cameo was very intentional. We've seen the clip of Hera trying to convince the New Republic Council of Thrawn's threat. My guess is that doesn't land well with the Council. Cut to the Adelphi Squadron, which we already know has a penchant for bending the rules and no love for the New Republic Bureaucracy. Zeb's inclusion with them will give Hera and avenue for some needed military muscle when the time comes. On the back end it seems like that group will be taking over the proposed Cara Dune series of Republic Commandoes in some shape or form. It's terrible. Since when Sabine has trained under Ahsoka and is "Force sensitive" ? Where does the TCW Jedi droid come from ? If Marrok is a former Inquisitor, where tf was he in Rebels Seasons 3 and 4 ? Morgan Elsbeth is hyped as this strong Nightsister who helped Thrawn, yet she's never mentioned in any novel or in Rebels. And I'm supposed to believe Sabine can survive a lightsaber stab wound ? Give me a break.....
How great would it be if Zeb was still drinking at the bar he was chillin' at in Mando S3, and Ashoka and Sabine walk in like 2 minutes after Captain Teva left. You can even get the timelines to line up without too much effort (at least as of right now).
The idea of a non-force sensitive Jedi is actually a really neat concept to me. The idea that the Jedi are a choice, an ideal, and that it's no longer being gatekept by requiring its members to be able to use the force. RIP my boy Chirrut Îmwe.
Not saying you're wrong, but I see it differently. Remember that when Hera asks if Sabine is having a hard time wielding the Darksaber because "she doesn't have the Force," Kanan corrects her and tells her the Force resides in everyone. You just have to be open to it. I believe the shot in the trailers of Shin telling Sabine she has no power and Sabine using what looks like a Force Push is exactly what it seems, and in a moment of need/desperation, she will awaken her Force abilities. I could be totally wrong though!
And as I said in eck’s recent video, there are advantages to non force sensitive Jedi in the order. Jedi cannot always rely on the force, but the non force sensitives don’t have to worry about their connection being cut off. And that might lead to making them even more dangerous. True, the force definitely helps, but especially with the whole dark saber thing, it’s not needed.
@@jeremydale4548eck’s take was wrong tho. The commentor saying she wasn’t proven to be non force sensitive is correct, kanan didn’t say she isn’t or that she can’t use it, but that she’s too closed off. Y’all are just super convinced of something that hasn’t been concrete confirmed and is actually the exact opposite of what they’re saying or showing. She is having force dreams.
@@jeremydale4548 Wouldn't that be fixed by making sure the padawans are also trained well enough in non-Force wielding combat techniques, including lightsaber swordsmanship drills while not being allowed to use the Force? Despite being uncivilized, blaster marksmanship training would also help a lot, along with unarmed martial arts beyond the occasional Force-enhanced kick. The only question is exactly how difficult it is for a partially-trained Force-sensitive to temporarily shut off his/her Force-enhanced senses and perception with ysalamiri no longer being canon.
David Tennant as Hyuang stole the scene every time he showed up. I’m so glad he’s a main character. As of that, I’m excited to see where this all goes!
Surprised a little that she admitted it, but it was speculated that Morgan was a Nightsister when Ahsoka told Din that her people were massacred during the Clone Wars.
@@chasecreamer727 I seem to remember there was a tweet that went out by Pablo where he all but confirmed that she was a night sister. A tweet that has since been deleted
😂😂 Dave really leaning into his master's storytelling "Anakin never had a padawan". Kind of reminds me of in Tales of the Jedi when Obi-Wan makes a comment saying Anakin was late, and after Anakin says Oh I thought I still had time then Obi-Wan replies with his signature snark( something that is repeated almost verbatim a couple minutes later with Ahsoka)
One of the funniest sceens was when Chopper suggested shooting the hyperdrive down and Hera shot that suggestion down due to the collateral damage it could cause.
Alex's slow zoom while throwing shade at the CEOs was *chef's kiss.* Also, yes, Sabine being told by Huyang to keep trying even though she didn't have a natural aptitude for the Force was my favorite scene. The Force is in ALL of us. You just need to open yourself to it and work at it.
Gosh, there were so many moments that had me freaking out. Seeing Ryder (and anything Lothal really), the Home One, Morgan using magick, but especially Baylan and Shin are quite literally killing it. So excited to see what their (and Marrok’s) deal is. I really hope and think Sabine will become a fan favourite if she isn’t already, her struggles the episodes focused on weren‘t that present in Rebels, but they still made her very relatable, there arguably even is a parallel to Ezra questioning his training. And omg the lothcat aaaah why is it sooo cute
It was nice that they included both Ryder Azadi and Jai Kell in the first episode for Rebels viewers. I'm glad we see where Kell ended up after leaving the Imperial Academy and helping save Lothal as a rebel.
Suprised you didnt mention Jai Kell, senator of Lothal. He was In Rebels season 1 In Imperial Academy when Ezra was getting info inside of it and also helping Ghost crew during liberation of Lothal during season 4
I think this show crushed explaining Rebels info to new fans. I watched it with my mom and she got invested in the characters and wasn’t overwhelmed with the new info. My sister who watched it by herself had some questions but was excited about the story
I don't know if it did. My dad is pretty keen and he couldn't understand why everyone was obsessed with Thrawn. I'm a fan of Thrawn since Legends so I paused and gave him a 30 second explanation - he said "Why didn't they just say that in the episode, it changes the entire mood and gravitas of the story." lol
@@forrestpenrod2294 that makes absolute sense, they focus on Thrawn so damn much as a boogeyman, would help just describing him as an imperial Julius Caesar or Hannibal or whatever in the show. But i think thats not as important as being invested in the main protagonists and as long as the show can do that, its off to a good start
I like the idea that Sabine is learning the Jedi way, despite having virtually no Force Sensitivity. It's a reminder to the viewer that "Jedi" isn't just a character class for well-intentioned Force users. It's ALSO a philosophy, one that can be practiced by anyone with a good heart, supernatural abilities be damned. The only other character to really explore this angle in live action was Chirrut Imwe. Sabine Wren will NEVER be a Jedi Knight. But she just might make a decent "Jedi".
there is another thing that i wonder if Sabine might be struggling with. When she turned away from the empire her parents rejected her causing her to have to leave them. then she found a family with the ghost crew. then Kanan died, then Ezra was taken away. Hera and Zeb went on to do other things. but then presumably Ahsoka came back and She became her padawan only from Ahsoka to walk away from her. Now here we are on the anniversary of the day she lost Ezra and this poor girl must be feeling so down. You can hear it in what she tells Hera in the hospital. it had been year since she last saw ahsoka and the first thing she does goes sideways and when the first thing she asks Huyang is "was i part of the plan?" all that loss is obviously weighing on her.
I think this felt like the most live action Star Wars thing since rouge one. The cities had a similar look to the prequels and the way the sith/Jedi ship sounded when it lands took me right back to mustafar when Sidious landed to save Vader.
Totally agree. Everything after Mando season 2 has felt far too real world to me. And what was going on with Andor’s cyberpunk feel and aesthetic? Anyway it’s great to have the old star wars feel back again.
@@jacos133 I would but then I would be in spoiler territory and I don’t want to accidentally ruin it. But let’s just say that we are very excited to see where this story goes 🙂
I have a feeling the Purgill are made to be "enhanced" versions of the Loth Wolfs. Creatures tied to the Force that open dimensional portals. But the whales are much larger and more powerful, enough to literally travel between galaxies
why would a race visitng thousands of years ago just so happen to have placed a map that randomly points to where some space whales ran off with a star destroyer
@@romanmccoy5074I think that is just coincidence. The map shows several galaxies that are connected to the SW galaxy, each with different information surrounding them. The galaxy where Thrawn ended up is surrounded by icons showing the pergil whales. So the ancient race figured out that the whales travel between those 2 galaxies, and mapped the route to travel between them
@@romanmccoy5074easy. They travel through paths that have been set for generations like real migratory creatures. It would make sense for a force attuned civilization to use their paths.
I hope this makes sense, but this show, out of all of them the past few years, feels the most confident. It has a clear consistent vision with great visuals (for once in a D+ show) and a cinematic tone. Loving it.
'It has a clear consistent vision and great visuals with a cinematic tone' ha ha you are describing Andor. But yes Ahsoka looks like it will be a very good show
@@enriqueguang9843 Yes obviously that too more so, but this feels like a movie with extra depth. Unlike the other shows *cough Kenobi* which feel like a race to the finish line
Having watched Rebels and Clone Wars, the season premier def has some nod and call back to the series. I got excited when Clancy Brown pop backup as Ryder, Chopper being that grumpy droid from the animation and some very recognizable stuff on Lothal. I have to admitted that it did took me a few minutes to get used to Hera and Sabine voice being different from Rebel to Ahsoka due to different actress between animation and live action.
On board with where its going so far and the two eps provided a good start and basic endpoint with plenty of opportunities to happen in between. Im glad to see some theories confirmed and am questioning some other plot/character points. All the actors did a good job.
The idea of Thrawn and Ezra lost in a different galaxy is fascinating, the Star Wars galaxy is already endlessly vast with different species, technology and interpretations of the force, can only imagine what could lie beyond!
Great video! Since Andor was recorded on real sets and locations, I thought they would stop using "the volume" in the new series, and record it as Andor. I really liked how Andor looked. It doesn't mean that this one looks bad, but you can tell the difference between them.
Really loved these opening episodes. I wasn't initially sold on Hera and Sabine from the trailers, but they ended up doing a fantastic job and felt just like their animated counterparts. I do hope they show some of Ahsoka and Sabine's history and what led to their fallout. They essentially had zero interaction in Rebels so I don't think it's enough to just tell us about it in passing. I can't wait to see what's coming next.
Yeah I really don't care for this dynamic so far, but hopefully they can sell it as it goes. I just really don't buy Ahsoka being this... difficult to work with. She had issues in the Clone Wars, but never had trouble connecting with all sorts of people. In fact I always thought of that as one of her strengths. Now she feels cold and out of touch, like Luminara to me. Gives me an icky feeling
@@trombonegamer14 I had the same thought at first, but after re-watching Trials of the Darksaber it really shows us that Sabine is the difficult one. Hera has seen this exact same scenario before when Kanan had frustrations teaching Sabine, so it's easier for Hera to keep pushing her on Ahsoka. She knows how difficult Sabine can be but trusts them to work it out, just like it worked out for her and Kanan. As Alex and many have predicted, I think this show will be partially about Ahsoka's journey into becoming a Jedi again, and giving her a really difficult padawan that she struggles to connect with will be great parallel to her and Anakin's relationship.
@MSnell that's not really what I'm picking up myself. As Alex mentioned, Ahsoka did communicate some disappointment about her losing the dark Saber, which didn't feel fair to me, and more importantly felt really out of character for Ahsoka. The Ahsoka I know would only care about the person being safe.
I hope you do an Easter Egg video on these first few episodes or even on individual episodes. There were so many things in these 2 episodes that just brings you back to animation rebels. Sabine’s artwork and painted walls in the radio tower and in Ahsoka’s ship is just an example. I can’t believe I missed the knife and hair cutting reference to Kanan. Chopper. The murder sassy brat droid. Hilarious in his on screen debut, but I’m waiting for his droid chuckle in hopes he shocks or pushes some thing or someone off a ledge. Maybe even take down another ship via sabotage.
Regarding the map trope in the movies, it was also done in Jedi Survivor with the hidden planet Tanalor and the heroes and villains all racing to locate it . Also those droids with the self destruct thing reminds me of the suicide bomb used by the Predator, it's a big explosion but the countdown is hilariously long enough to give the heroes enough plot armour to escape to safety. I can only imagine if IG-11's suicide bomb at the finale of Mando Season 1 took that long to explode...
The most striking thing for me in these first two episodes is that they finally seem to be bringing the weird and mysterious parts of Star Wars front and center - ancient people from outside the galaxy, connected to the nightsisters (Zeffo?? Rakata?? Something brand new??), sign me up!
Very much looking forward to the "end credits explained" video if you ever have time to make it. Very curious about the text. Also, the musical score in this show is phenomenal!
Celtic Trinity Knot could simply represent the Father, Daughter and Son from the Mortis Arc. The Balance of Dark and Light. or it could represent Vader (father), Luke (son) and Ahsoka.... balancing the darkness with the light.
I jumped into Ahsoka having never watched any Star Wars animations. I enjoyed the first 2 episodes but felt I was only getting half the story. Thanks to your recap videos I've managed to get a better grasp on Ahsoka's character and the context behind the 2 episodes I've seen. Even Huyang's quip in the very first scene between them hit a lot deeper than before "that is the job of a Jedi Padawan learner, which I am not". Thank you for making these great quality explainers, it's made me even more excited to dig into the rest of this series!
Sabine is my favorite character in Rebels so I've been really looking forward to seeing her in Live Action. I really enjoyed watching the new show so far. And then that sense of deja vu when listening to the end credits hit me. I was trying to figure out where I heard it and went back and watched the Sabine/Kanan training scene which I happened to re-watched earlier in the day. The end credits have Sabine's theme throughout. So good.
I LOVE all things Star Wars, but the first two episodes were even better than I was expecting. People call it fan service like that's a negative thing, but Lothal, the Ghost crew, Ahsoka, Dark Jedi, An Inqusitor, Assassin droids, a Nightsister, a Corellian shipyard, all in live action! I was sold by the end of episode one. Sabine is cast perfectly! It's all the ingredients that I love about Star Wars media, and these ingredients were awesome.
The first two episodes were really great, especially in the non-verbal exchanges between the characters. Hera is pretty amazing in that regard : she always looks upon Sabine and Ahsoka with such love and sadness at the same time. She expresses so much, like when they are on their way to the shipyard's control center. I can't wait to see them interact again in episode 3 !
My favourite C1-10P moment from Rebels is him happily dismantling Ketsu Onyo's weapons array; to get those same Chopper antics in the premiere was like a beautiful dream come true. All hail Chopper the Sociopath!!!!!
I really liked the two episodes. It was great to see Rebels characters in live action. The actress for Sabine is cute and did a good job. That lightsaber must have missed all Sabine's vital organs. The idea of someone training with a lightsaber and maybe not using the Force, but following Jedi ideals is interesting. It was great hearing those character themes! I never expected Ezra and Thrawn were in a whole other galaxy. That is really exciting and the giant deep space hyperdrive ship we saw at the end was awesome.
These debut episodes were a HUGE pay-off to everyone who has followed the 'Clone Wars' + 'Rebels' story arc. Dave Filoni has already done us proud! To even have a live-action version of the Epilogue at the end of Rebels ... The pathos & empathy displayed by Mary-Elizabeth as Hera in such a short scene. Live-action Chopper already a triumph! 🥰 The way Ahsoka battled the droids was reminiscent of how she battled the Clones to survive 'Order 66'. Just saying, but Sabine wouldn't have been stabbed if she had been wearing beskar. Lothal in live-action looked incredible! I just need Zeb to show up now.
was definitely hooked, loved catching up with the rebels characters and the direction they chose to go in with Ashoka and Sabine. cant wait to see where the rest of this series goes. Also anyone else get Assassins Creed Apple of Eden vibes from the map?
These two episodes were soo good. Love Ahoka and Sabine's relationship, and Beylon and Shin. hyuang is back. Nightsister lore. Different galaxies. Kevin Kiner roocks my socks off with his score. Great adaption of animation characters. Cant wait for next episode.
EASTER EGG: When Ahsoka returns to Home One, the ID code she gives is T6 1-9-7-4. Thats the month and year that Dave Filoni was born. Loved how this show started off. I compare tasks like this (catching up half an audience on so much story in a short amount of time) to how it was executed with Fellowship of the Ring. There were easter eggs for hardcore fans, simple enough explanations for live-action-only fans, exciting moments, and emotional moments. Not to mention stellar visuals and music. Good job all around.
First of all, the Ahsoka vs droids scene gave me more "Batman Arkham" vibes. Second, did anyone notice there were a lot of back-facing shots of Hera & Sabine?
Loved the Huyang and Sabine scene, very much mirrors the "anyone can be spider man" scene from spiderverse, if you have heart to be a jedi/ spiderman then you can regardless of of you background. I loved the idea that sabine might choose to be jedi but also maintain her mando armour, be a jedi HER way.
I'm really really intrigued by where the story is headed. I also wasn't blown away but like you said that's mostly because it was set up, getting everyone reacquainted with the characters and the fact most of what we saw was in the trailers already.
I love that you mention that feeling of consistency with her animated character! There was one frame I say that was clearly the Ashoka model from Clone Wars season 7. I know some might think of that as criticism, but I found it absolutely endearing.
Okay, I actually paused this video partway through to give a Helllllllz Yeah to drawing the comparison between the Corellia "businessman" and the corporations squeezing the writers and actors who made this show possible. The parallel is real and your solidarity is beautiful.
Constructive criticism: I think these reviews would work better if it was just you and Molly going back and forth about what you liked and what didn't work for you, like you did for the Rebels Rewatch episodes. I think everyone who's watching these videos has already seen the episode, so there's no real need to summarize what happened. The format for the Rebels Re-watch was great! I think you should continue with that! 🙂
Interesting that Grogu is a Force-wielding Mandalorian, and now Sabine *might* be a Force-wielding Mandalorian too. No way to predict, but the potential for these two characters forging a new alliance between Mandalorians and the new Jedi is intriguing and full of potential.
“Warmaster, we think too often in terms of dualism: Jedi or Sith, light or dark, right or wrong. But there are three sides to this blade, not two, opposed and similar at the same time. The third edge is the Mandalorian. All three sides care nothing for caste or species, only adherence to a code that unites. The Mandalorians remain the most formidable enemy of the Jedi: but the Sith are not always their allies. The Mandalorians even worshiped war itself, then simply turned their backs on their god.” - Vergere (Legends) Time for the Mandalorians to become a rapidly rising “New Age alternative” to the Jedi and Sith! (In the post-Rise of Skywalker, “Wild West” era)
Alex I appreciate you actually bringing in commentary about the strikes into the discussion of the episodes, rather than just leaving it at the opening disclaimer.
It was a great start to the series. I like that we almost all the teaser footage we saw came from these two episodes. I love your little rant at 12:40. Well done.
I enjoyed the episodes too. The opening crawl was cool but I thought it was weird that it didn't fade into the distance? Coupled with the musical cues that made me think of Samurai movies, set the tone for the deliberate slower pacing of these first couple of episodes. Looking forward to the new stuff too!
Solid start for sure! The shorter run times will bother me, but overall I’m confident the series will deliver. This ‘felt’ like pure Star Wars, and while ‘Andor’ was on another level in terms of execution and we measure the shows to that, it often lacked that ‘feel’ and I would be taken out of it as a result. Two things to note: - Sabine surviving getting stabbed works because Ahsoka was right there to expedite getting her help. And I would hope in 40 years since Episode 1 that some advancements were made in the medical end of in-universe technology - It’s interesting that the show deals with ‘Remnants’. Imperial, yes, but Ahsoka, Baylan and Morgan are also themselves remnants of a bygone era, so how they fit into a galaxy that has since moved on from the respective organizations/cultures they were once a part of
@@ninyaninjabrifsanovichthes45 We must be on different wavelengths then, because that was definitely not my experience. Glad it worked for you though, which is ultimately what matters 👍🏻
I honestly believe that the Ahsoka series is gonna be beyond fantastic! It kicked off with a bang. Which I loved. I’m really excited to see what happens, especially the triumphant return of Grand Admiral Thrawn. He’s gonna be really cool! I’m hyped.
I was excited to see Filoni double down on the "small skinny" sabers of Rebels. A great touch. I love that Huwang let us know that Sabine, while a Padawan, is far from disconnected from the force more so than any Padawan he'd ever seen. We saw that in Rebels when Kanon gave her a few lessons and in her brief battle with Shin. Her Mando warrior roots dont jive with the Jedi tenants of patience and defense. She's caught in two different worlds which mirrors Ahsokas two lives as Jedi and non-Jedi.
The duel between Sabine and Shin was an absolute highlight for me. You could tell by the look on Shin's face that she was having the time of her life, it was like she had never fought someone with a lightsaber before and after years of effortlessly hacking through soldiers she was really savouring what it felt like to really duel someone!! That's my thought on why she hit Sabine with a non-fatal attack, she was frustrated at being interrupted and she wanted to finish the fight later but she had to let Sabine know "I win." But for me, the music was by far my favourite part of the episodes. It makes the whole show FEEL like Rebels, but as though Rebels has evolved into something new. I found myself listening to the score and imagining what the show would look like if it were an episode of Rebels. And just the few beats of Thrawn's theme sent chills up my spine. I never fooled myself into thinking he'd be showing up already, but you can absolutely feel his presence already. The way people talk about him, the way the score darkens whenever his name is mentioned. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
I was a little unsure about the first episode but then I realized Filoni was taking a more mannered Prequel approach and I wound up enjoying the second episode a lot more because of that. This is already working for me more than the last season of Mandalorian. Also the music is great!
I wasn't a fan before--never saw his work--but I already know from these two episodes that his presence will be missed. He was genuinely great, showing a ton of range in his acting. The line about him not wanting to kill the few Jedi left was excellent.
David Tennant has been a great side character in the series. I love his line “Because you’re a hologram.” And hera’s look back at him. The series is doing a really great job of giving us more of the characters we loved from Rebels.
I think you are right about how Ahsoka started. It didn't need to start running at full speed from the start. But it has. It can pick-up speed. By the way (pun not intended) back in 2020 on A What If Star Wars channel. I put up A idea in the comments for A story about what if Sabine Wren had Force powers and was taken by Ahsoka Tano as her Padawan. I guess I was not to far off in my idea huh. May The Force Be With You Always and This is the Way.
I’ve never watched the animated shows. I immediately felt connected and invested with each of the major characters. I think having the scrawl in the beginning really set the tone for me and primed my mind for good ole’ fashion campy Star Wars fun for the family. I’m excited for the rest of the season!
Hmm… What if Marrok is indeed the eighth brother we were lead to believe perished on Malachor? If so then him and Ahsoka were both trapped on Malachor at the end of twilight of the apprentice. What if they escaped together? Or he followed her? Seems like an odd coincidence that they were both thought dead on the same planet at the same time and both appear fighting for the same goal now. It would make sense to me that he is in it for Ahsoka specifically cause of something that happened between them on Malachor. What if she used him to get off planet and left him behind? This could be a great added element for his driving force. Eh, probably not but it seemed to line up too well. Escaping Malachor would be difficult so it would make sense they did it together. Just a thought.
I feel like the Eye of Sion bears a lot of visual similarities to the Outbound Flight in my opinion, which I think is very fitting given that it is so heavily adapting the Thrawn trilogy
Never expected that Ezra and Thrawn got zipped off to a whole nother galaxy. That opens up a whole lot of interesting things for Star Wars at large. Could the ancient race be the Rakata?

Remember that when Hera asks if Sabine is having a hard time wielding the Darksaber because "she doesn't have the Force," Kanan corrects her and tells her the Force resides in everyone. You just have to be open to it. I believe the shot in the trailers of Shin telling Sabine she has no power and Sabine using what looks like a Force Push is exactly what it seems, and in a moment of need/desperation, she will awaken her Force abilities. I could be totally wrong though!
"I am one with the Force and the Force is with me"
And as I said in eck’s recent video, there are advantages to non force sensitive Jedi in the order.
Morgan being a Nightsister was a surprise. Dave: “She wore a crown and came down in a bubble, dog. You going to tell me I’m wrong?”

@gentlemanlygeeky4088 ever heard of a typo?
Agreed on all points!
It was nice that they included both Ryder Azadi and Jai Kell in the first episode for Rebels viewers. I'm glad we see where Kell ended up after leaving the Imperial Academy and helping save Lothal as a rebel.
the scene with hera on corellia asking to unclassified a document was priceless. her ''wanna bet ? '' was chef kiss

Mando season 1 definitely had that feeling but it was more OT. This feels more like prequel Star Wars again but doesnt come with bad trappings of them
This show has completely subverted my expectations and me and my friend are very excited to see where it is going 😁
@@dancingvalkyrie Boring *TO YOU*

So the ancient race figured out that the whales travel between those 2 galaxies, and mapped the route to travel between them
@romanmccoy5074 birds migrate, why can't the 'space whales'

Unlike the other shows *cough Kenobi* which feel like a race to the finish line

can we just talk about how gorgeous home one was and i loved the cameo from ryder and jai and admiral ackbar
The Rubik's sphere, good one 😂.
I liked the Toil and Trouble title as it references the witches In Shakespeare’s Macbeth
Deep deep cut - on the hologram, Ezra rubs the back of his head, like he did several times in the cartoon when nervous or uncomfortable.
When Baylan Skoll and his apprentice go on an enthusiastic walk, they asked the New Republic crew how's their health plan.
Apparently it was great.
So good.
The New Republic also needs to improve their inmate security measures. That's at least 3 prison breaks now under their rule. 😂
STAR WARS IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
Chopper wants to commit war crimes.
Never change.
That was a very good way to set the rails for the series. I am excited for what's to come
These debut episodes were a HUGE pay-off to everyone who has followed the 'Clone Wars' + 'Rebels' story arc. Dave Filoni has already done us proud! To even have a live-action version of the Epilogue at the end of Rebels ... The pathos & empathy displayed by Mary-Elizabeth as Hera in such a short scene. Live-action Chopper already a triumph! 🥰
The way Ahsoka battled the droids was reminiscent of how she battled the Clones to survive 'Order 66'.
Yes Apple of Eden was my first thought!
These two episodes were soo good. Love Ahoka and Sabine's relationship, and Beylon and Shin. hyuang is back. Nightsister lore. Different galaxies. Kevin Kiner roocks my socks off with his score. Great adaption of animation characters. Cant wait for next episode.
I was today years old when i realised: Morgan = Morgana. Morgana Le Fey, who's a Witch in Arthurian Legend
Fantastic first two episodes and seeing Clancy Brown always make me smile
EASTER EGG:
When Ahsoka returns to Home One, the ID code she gives is T6 1-9-7-4.
Man this whole thing felt like getting back into a comfy chair. I do hope we end up with a less grumpy Ahsoka by the end of the series though.
It's crazy that the Droid assassins have nukes as a self destruct feature there.
I need your channel for the optimism. I was very disappointed with these episodes. But you're perspective has helped soften my own. Thanks man
Jai Kell being played by Vinny was such a great suprise to me. One of the funniest guys on social media fr
The Mandalorians even worshiped war itself, then simply turned their backs on their god.” - Vergere (Legends)
Time for the Mandalorians to become a rapidly rising “New Age alternative” to the Jedi and Sith! (In the post-Rise of Skywalker, “Wild West” era)
The show is great so far. Great action, beautiful visulas, cool new characters and more. It's everything I want it to be!
Alex I appreciate you actually bringing in commentary about the strikes into the discussion of the episodes, rather than just leaving it at the opening disclaimer.
No Star Wars has made me happy like this since Mando 1 and ROTS. Brilliant.
Live action that is. Love Rebels and TCW
Love it that you're willing to bring attention to the writers!!🙌🏽👌🏼
12:43 that slow push in is so good! Go Molly on the strategic edit!
I like how the little village on Lothal became like a little Coruscant, how it prospered in an organic way post Empire.
Two things to note:
- Sabine surviving getting stabbed works because Ahsoka was right there to expedite getting her help. And I would hope in 40 years since Episode 1 that some advancements were made in the medical end of in-universe technology
- It’s interesting that the show deals with ‘Remnants’. Imperial, yes, but Ahsoka, Baylan and Morgan are also themselves remnants of a bygone era, so how they fit into a galaxy that has since moved on from the respective organizations/cultures they were once a part of
IMO Andor didn't *lack* a Star Wars feel, it just had a *different* Star Wars feel.
@@ninyaninjabrifsanovichthes45 We must be on different wavelengths then, because that was definitely not my experience.
Glad it worked for you though, which is ultimately what matters 👍🏻
Only gripe with the episodes…. Another character once again being impaired by a lightsaber with zero consequences
Alex spitting truths about the strike in the middle there! Love it! Great work, y'all
The first two episodes were fine. Nothing was mind blowing about them and they done an ok job setting up the plot
Best star wars channel, thanks for reminding everyone about the WGA and SAG AFTRA strike!
That's my thought on why she hit Sabine with a non-fatal attack, she was frustrated at being interrupted and she wanted to finish the fight later but she had to let Sabine know "I win."
But for me, the music was by far my favourite part of the episodes.
According to Wikipedia the Triquetra is often used by neopagans to represent the triple goddess The Morrígan from Irish mythology.
I was a little unsure about the first episode but then I realized Filoni was taking a more mannered Prequel approach and I wound up enjoying the second episode a lot more because of that. This is already working for me more than the last season of Mandalorian.
Also the music is great!
lol... how ironic, that a company that puts profits over people... is making a show about an organization putting profits over people.

Rip Ray Stevenson. He’s a lot of fun to watch in this series
I wasn't a fan before--never saw his work--but I already know from these two episodes that his presence will be missed. He was genuinely great, showing a ton of range in his acting. The line about him not wanting to kill the few Jedi left was excellent.
that WGA strike dunk about 12 minutes in was segway'd perfectly. *chef's kiss*
David Tennant has been a great side character in the series. I love his line “Because you’re a hologram.” And hera’s look back at him. The series is doing a really great job of giving us more of the characters we loved from Rebels.
one of my favorite scenes so far was when the inquisitors saber is returning and ashoka just slightly moves away so casually. so badass
Thanks for the Review! I love your parallel to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes
That is not a map to Thrawn, it is a map to the something/someone calling out to Morgan. Thrawn and Ezra just happen to be there too.
That’s way more likely, whatever is out there attracted Thrawn somehow.
You definitely should watch them
Clone Wars & Rebels are great shows!
@gentlemanlygeeky4088 And Bad Batch too, while you're at it.

So happy for Kevin Kiner and co. Finally getting to score a live action project and it’s amazing!
Ahsoka Tano has reignited my love of Star Wars!❤️
Never expected that Ezra and Thrawn got zipped off to a whole nother galaxy. That opens up a whole lot of interesting things for Star Wars at large. Could the ancient race be the Rakata?
I just can't stop thinking about the possibility of running into the Yuuzhan Vong.
@@Compucles I thought that too. Idk if they are brave enough to go there
