One of my favorite things I've seen going around online, is that Obi Wan was able to take off the left side of Vader's mask, Ahsoka the right, but only Luke was able to completely remove Vader's helmet, revealing Anakin.
If someone ever makes a list or video counting down the best applications of “It’s like poetry, it rhymes” in Star Wars, the removal of Vader’s helmet through the decades is definitely gonna be on it, if not near the top or even number 1.
That moment of Obi-Wan apologizing to Anakin legitimately had my heart feel hard. 💔 Vader's voice mixing between Hayden and James's voice was fantastic, and thr performances just made it stick for me. I also got huge The Last Jedi vibes from throughout the show, and I just love stories of people learning to forgive themselves for their failures. Some of the other stuff like Leia didn't click for me at first, but overtime, I enjoyed it! I thought it worked well! This feels like the sequel to Revenge of the Sith I dreamed of!
Same here with The Last Jedi vibes! I think that is part of the reason why currently, Obi-Wan Kenobi is my favorite of the live-action Star Wars shows so far. That, plus the characters and themes.

I honestly don't understand all the hate this show has gotten. This show was amazing and I love it and I wish people would speak more loudly about how good this show was.
Another tiny thing I noticed... with Palpatine, his face makeup was made to look a lot less "puffy" (?) than it was in Revenge of the Sith, and more in line with what he looked like during the events of Return of the Jedi. He just looked more worn out. Like, the scars were fresh in ROTS and he still looked spry, but as Palps delved deeper into his role as Emperor, the more he just sagged and looked more aged. I dunno. Just a thing I appreciated seeing.
I love the positivity I’m very tired of seeing sad or toxic videos let’s enjoy what we get is it always what we want no but it’s something we can love!
Everyone said why is he struggling with the force? But he gets it back so fast? You stop doing something for ten years and go back to doing it. Yes, you will struggle but you still know how to do it
Thanks for this. Everything I've seen online about this show has been so negative. I felt like I was the only one that enjoyed the themes and Kenobi's arc.
There are parallels between the final duel between Obi-wan and General Grievous and the final duel between Obi-wan and Vader, especially Obi-wan’s willingness to go for their weak points.
Really was a great show. The writing and acting were top notch. This is some of the best work Deborah Chow’s ever done. Loved all of the themes the show touched on as well as all of the character work.
I thought Leah hiding in Obi Wans coat worked really well. A big theme in this series was the Sith and Empire not being able to see the forest for the trees. They have tunnel vision, this was just symbolic of that. "The more you tighten your grip, the more systems will slip through your fingers"
Yes I loved it, every time I see some naysaying analysis, it makes me watch it again , and yes I still love it…my favorite parts are still the obi parts finding himself..
Thank you Alex! So fantastic see a video celebrating all we love about the series! When you read so many hate filled comments from people who are stuck in their own cycle of hate like vader, you and Mollys videos are like the smile from Obiwan, so warming to the heart and love for Star Wars
As someone who has spent a good amount of my fan time running tabletop Star Wars RPG, the end of episode 4 felt very much like something desperate players might think up to get out of a situation that should have been practically impossible...to which I would just shake my head and tell them to roll the dice.
14:02 _"And there's something about the sound design of their blasters I love."_ It's the sound effect for Death Trooper blasters, specifically the one used in _Star Wars Rebels._
I love that the part of Vader's face shown to Obi-wan is the disfigured part while Ahsoka saw the part that was "still Anikin" I'm not sure why I love it but I do.
The thing I loved most in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is seeing Ewan McGregor resembling Alec Guinness even more closely than he did in Episode III. Revenge of the Sith is still very good, but here, McGregor sounds much closer to Alec Guinness than he did before. It makes me almost forgive the fact that Alec Guinness hated Star Wars, all because of this heartwarming callback. And of course, easily the best episode in this series was the finale, when we had Obi-Wan and Vader's intense duel followed by the appearance of Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn... I just have no words for it.
So much Kumail in such a short time! He showed up in this, then his character was mentioned in Ms. Marvel shortly after, then he showed up as himself in The Boys.
I don't mind the idea of Obi-wan smuggling Leia out of the Fortress in his coat, but I do have a problem with how they did it. She could have held onto his chest with the coat around her, but no, she had awkwardly walk off the the side with her little feet sticking out of the coat next to Obi-wan's. It still would have been pretty obvious that he had someone in his coat, but nowhere near as ridiculously blatantly obviously so.
What I liked, was the episode 6 reveal that Reva was not seeking vengeance for herself, she was seeking it for her dead friends and classmates. It seems to me a lot of people missed this as she is practically sobbing it when she tells Obi-wan, not that she failed, but that she failed them yet again. She knew what she was doing was wrong, but thought it was the only way to get justice not for herself, who she considered lost and worthless, but for her friends. Attachments can be such a troublesome thing... from a certain point of view.
The “saber bash” in my view came from the Episode III video game where you could unlock Darth Vader & (old) Ben Kenobi, Ben had a grapple move or similar where you could bash Vader with the bottom of Ben’s hilt and with additional damage taken Vader’s breathing would change.
As many flaws as this show has, I really don’t care, the moments that needed to be good were good. For me that’s enough, and I sure as hell enjoyed those moments
I assumed the 'oh thats embarrassing' from Haja was because he couldve turned him in to the Inquisitors BUT NOW I think he was saying its embarrassing that he didnt put him on The Path
When Tala shoots the mouse droid... is reminiscent of the original Dark Forces game... you could shoot mouse droids in order to steal the batteris from them to power your visor to be able to see in the dark!!
Regarding Vader's voice: Respeacher is a "voice cloning" system that allows a vocal performance to be filtered so that it sounds like another person's voice. They used it to have Hayden Christensen's performance sound like James Earl Jones's voice.
Obi-Wan may not have said Hello There until the end, but he did have another trolly kind of comment with Flee’s character saying “you made me bleed” and Obi-Wan laughingly saying “yes well everyone bleeds” right before he set off the spice bomb.
Was the vision of Anakin/Vader a mirage or could it have been a connection through the Force. You hear that rumbling sound when you see it. It's possible that Vader projected himself as Anakin. I couldn't tell if he looked disfigured or not because they didn't give him a very close up look.
14:49 The love for Wade thing is mostly a joke. He's such a minor character, but his death is treated in the show with such weight and drama that it just kind of rings as funny. He gets a full shot for his death, a pained screaming of his name, a reaction shot of his speeder falling, AND a mournful mention in a following scene. So we kind of latched onto him, since the show made it so clear that his death was an absolutely tragedy on par with Alderaan
I think Leia hiding under Kenobi’s coat is a shout out to the fact that, in a workplace absolutely ruled by terror and recrimination, it wouldn’t be out of the question that people would put their heads down and keep to themselves.
I have a question for you guys- everyone keeps saying “impossible for Obi Wan to not have heard the name Vader in 10 years” but like… did he ever know him as Vader? He must have mentioned it on Mustafar but I don’t remember that. As far as I know his last time seeing him was as “Anakin”
I think when he watches the hologram in the temple he hears Anakin referred to as Vader, but I might be misremembering that. But I still don't think it's impossible that he did not hear of Vader. He seemed pretty cut off from the universe.
If someone has mentioned this already I apologize. To me it felt like there was a purposeful attempt to give Vader a similar desire/need to kill Obi Wan compared to Kylo and Han. It felt like to me Vader’s obsession with killing Obi Wan was an attempt to end his conflicted feelings which just like Kylo did not.
I think the reason the Grand Inquisitor wasn't given a larger head is because the Utapauan makeup in Ep3 was *extremely* bulky, clunky, and thick. For a slow-moving "regal" character who had so little screentime he may have just been an extra, whose "big" scenes were intended to be high-value hero shots showing off his facial detail, that works fine. But for a side character with a lot of screentime who's intended to engage in strenuous fights, I can imagine that for the actor's sake it was better to just use facepaint. I have no doubt they didn't at least *consider* using a mask at first - don't forget that a lot of artists who worked on the Prequels are still working at Lucasfilm today.
I loved that Obi Wan showed some compassion to the clone was great. I don't think Obi Wan knows anything about order 66, the grand scheme Palatine set and why Anakin turned, but it doesn't matter. That's what makes him Obi Wan. None of that matters. The past doesn't matter. Just move forward.
One of my favorite things I've seen going around online, is that Obi Wan was able to take off the left side of Vader's mask, Ahsoka the right, but only Luke was able to completely remove Vader's helmet, revealing Anakin.

I honestly don't understand all the hate this show has gotten. This show was amazing and I love it and I wish people would speak more loudly about how good this show was.
What can I say, you are correct. For all of it. You make Star Wars better. Thank you.
Thank You for spreading positivity....May the Force be with you
Another tiny thing I noticed... with Palpatine, his face makeup was made to look a lot less "puffy" (?) than it was in Revenge of the Sith, and more in line with what he looked like during the events of Return of the Jedi.
Such a FANTASTIC series!!!! Love, love the Obi Wan character arc!
Love your positivity. Star Wars is a positive life affirming thing...yet a small proportion of a very large fan base are too negative.
7 million views under a MauLer-Video is not what I see as small proportion
Did anyone notice, in the last episode, the hug Obi-Wan gave to Bail Organa was very similar to the one he gave to Dexter Jettster....
There are parallels between the final duel between Obi-wan and General Grievous and the final duel between Obi-wan and Vader, especially Obi-wan’s willingness to go for their weak points.
Can't wait to watch this again all the way through 😁
Really was a great show. The writing and acting were top notch. This is some of the best work Deborah Chow’s ever done. Loved all of the themes the show touched on as well as all of the character work.
Reva's quest against Vader reminded me of the Jet Li movie "Hero"
I absolutely ADORE this series! It’s one of my favorite Star Wars series so far.
EWAN, the little girl, her outfits, Vader, the legendary Jimmy S, Lola, and live action characters from the cartoons. All the little things ✨️
I thought Leah hiding in Obi Wans coat worked really well. A big theme in this series was the Sith and Empire not being able to see the forest for the trees. They have tunnel vision, this was just symbolic of that.
"The more you tighten your grip, the more systems will slip through your fingers"
It was good to see Hayden and Ewan together again
I loved seeing Obi-Wan tap into the Cosmic Force! It’s amazing seeing when characters like Luke, Kanan, and Rey tap into the Cosmic Force
Yes finally some praise for this show! It was so good!
yes
Thanks, Alex! ☀️☀️
"Will I ever see you again?" just tore me up
Love the positivity in this video! Thank you so much for creating and uploading this.
Thank you Alex
I love the Episode IV-style cinematography and music for the Star Destroyer chase at the beginning of episode 6.
I watched ANH last night. Obi Wan Kenobi changed so much about the opening it gave me so much more respect and love for Owen and Beru.
14:02 _"And there's something about the sound design of their blasters I love."_
It's the sound effect for Death Trooper blasters, specifically the one used in _Star Wars Rebels._
Leia stole the show. A young actress holding her own against very experienced actors/actresses was most impressive.
I can't decide what the best thing about it is, it's either Ewan and Hayden's return or that it feels like the prequels
Thank you!! Yes I loved all these things too!
The only thing holding the show back was the budget. Besides that it was a really great series.
Nice. I was beginning to think I was the only person who saw Obi-Wan hurt his hand fighting the Zabrak.
The “saber bash” in my view came from the Episode III video game where you could unlock Darth Vader & (old) Ben Kenobi, Ben had a grapple move or similar where you could bash Vader with the bottom of Ben’s hilt and with additional damage taken Vader’s breathing would change.
This is the best of Star Wars and is the best since 4,5 and 6 take story and acting over special effects and it fits in place before 4.
Another title:
"Why i love Key jangling"
or
"Why im easly entertained by callbacks"
When Tala shoots the mouse droid... is reminiscent of the original Dark Forces game... you could shoot mouse droids in order to steal the batteris from them to power your visor to be able to see in the dark!!
"I've always loved movies about people trying to make it from one end of a city to another." Allllleeeeex com out to plaaaaayyyayyyyy
thank you thank you thank you!
i love seeing clone troopers again as i am a clone troopers fan boy
When I saw the video title I was like: "Man, that's gonna be a short list."
Nah, it was shorter than I expected
This series was sooo good!
The background circle-y thingies kinda look like the meditation thingies from Fallen Order and some World Between Worlds imagery
Viewers: man RUclips recommendations are being boring
Kenobi Clips: *Hello There!*
This series was excellent
Thanks 🙏🏼
Regarding Vader's voice: Respeacher is a "voice cloning" system that allows a vocal performance to be filtered so that it sounds like another person's voice. They used it to have Hayden Christensen's performance sound like James Earl Jones's voice.
I am actually going insane reading these comments
Obi-Wan may not have said Hello There until the end, but he did have another trolly kind of comment with Flee’s character saying “you made me bleed” and Obi-Wan laughingly saying “yes well everyone bleeds” right before he set off the spice bomb.
Was the vision of Anakin/Vader a mirage or could it have been a connection through the Force. You hear that rumbling sound when you see it. It's possible that Vader projected himself as Anakin. I couldn't tell if he looked disfigured or not because they didn't give him a very close up look.
Ewan McGregor does an amazing job in this series.
Loved this. Thanks.
22:50
Huh. I didn't even notice that.
No mention of Lola being held in Leia's holster?
👍
Finally positive click bait about Star Wars
