@@lindyisgoated28 Careful buying a telescope if youre a beginner, telescopes take a while to setup and its also way harder to find stuff cause of the low field of view. I am also a beginner and just ordered a pair of 10x50 binoculars, I recommend you look into binoculars because theyre way easier to use and worst case scenario if you learn you dont like astronomy you can sell them or use them for other stuff, and best case scenario is that you love them and then when you buy a telescope you can use them to help you find what youre looking for with the telescope. Also you can bring them wherever youre travelling. Good luck!

I was hoping he would explain the gravity issue as well. If gravity is in the center, that means the further you get away from the center of a flat Earth, the harder it would be to walk and the more diagonal things like trees would become. At the edge, a tree would be practically laying on it's side but it would be too difficult for you to even make it that far. I don't remember all of the particulars, but I believe it was Neil DeGrasse Tyson who explained it best.

The most basic and simple observation of a sunrise and sunset which have been seen by everybody across the world thousands of times proves that we live on a rotating sphere. If earth was flat and the sun was somehow magically circling around overhead it would obviously never come up from and go completely below the horizon and we would always see at least some light everywhere on earth. That's physically impossible. You literally don't need any other observation to destroy flat earth other than this.
For them this is just "perspectiv". They claim the sun does not set,but just get too far away to be seen.

They are mentioned in Indian Vedas and religious texts.

Just cause it doesn't gel with the narrative, doesn't erase the fact. Example: Government breaks down to control and mental in it's root form. It doesn't make it untrue just because you don't believe the government controls your mind. Even the word planet has the word plane right there in it. Extra terrestrial means extra land. NASA derived from the Hebrew words "to deceive". They hide meanings in words right in front of our face constantly. To say that is not true is just false. I could go on and on.

After flat Earthers recently sent a balloon up to 60,000 feet and found no curve I asked this (simple) question.
"Why didn't they see a curve because even a flat disc is round from above therefore one should be able to see the curve of the "disc" - a record looks flat at eye level and round from above, so as the higher you get you would see the curve of the record !"
Nobody has replied or answered that question.

There are many ways to prove this, including measuring the curvature of the Earth's surface with sophisticated instruments. 🌎📐

I would like to thank flerfers for all the amusement that they have given me over the past few years. Nothing more than that, just amusement. As a sailor for the last 50 years, I have used celestial navigation techniques to navigate myself on yachts by the use of sextants and chronometers. Spherical trigonometry is difficult and is used do the actual calculations. Luckily these days we can use GPS chartplotters to do in seconds what took a long time and a lot of hard work to do in the old days. Incidentally GPS stands for Global Positioning system. Hmm.
As for flat earthers and their silly ideas, they are irrelevant and should really be consigned to the dustbin of history as soon as possible.

so triangles use curved lines to determine location?? How does GPS = living on a sphere?? GPS=ground positioning system. Just like they have done with the letters AR, they did with the GPS and changed the actual meanings to fit a narrative. Not hard to comprehend there is no curvature measured or found anywhere.

I remember I took a flight to Vietnam from Texas USA. It was summer 2015 and the flat earth hype was going around.
Long story short I asked the pilot what he thought. He came back with an iPad and headphones… the 10 minute video I watched was ridiculous.

I find the ways greeks did all of this stuff and come up with it really interesting. It's simple, and gives pretty accurate results.
