@@hartzland7658 So the advice I give everyone when getting a precision rifle is go with a Rem 700 clone action. If you look at custom actions they are 700 clones. The most popular factory action used on custom rifles is the rem 700. The 700 action has more accessories than all other actions combined. From stocks, chassis, triggers, etc. This is important for down the road upgrades. I have a couple friends who have tikkas and howa’s. Good objective review, but in reading your comments and replies here, I noticed you plan to compare this to the EP5(probably already did). Remember that Arken released this scope to answer requests for a lighter more compact optic for hunters. In a sense, it’s a compromise compared to their heavier “tactical” models. Turrets and elevation range will be more to your liking on the SH & EP line!
I’m currently testing the EP5 and will do a video on it soon. I’m also going to do a video comparing the two. I’m just here to put out the information and give my opinion based off my likes and experiences. Ultimately it’s up to the individual what works best for them. I definitely appreciate you letting me know that the lighter version was done at the request of hunters looking for a lighter weight option. It’s always best to learn as much as possible in anything you do. Good luck this season and happy hunting.
Good timing. Ive just orderd a epl4 and the epl5 to check out. I think the epl4 will suit the rifle lighter weight hunter purpose better than the 5. I just grabed the epl5 as its such a bargain potentially.if its that much better ill just have to carry the extra weight 😂 Its only for a 308 with a 20ma ring set so the cons wont really effect its use as such. Interested to check out the epf against my kahles k6-24×56 gen3
@longrangehuntinggroup7223 Scopes rocked up. Looking through the glass, I would say that the ep5 edged . Looked a bit better generally & I could see a little more detail as dark was closing I ended up mounting the epl4 on my M84 308 as it looks a better fit for this rifle. Eye boxes were tricky off hand but not to bad when, when the epl4 was mounted it was ok.( nothing like my khales tho lol) Interestingly, the epl4 had a better image with digital NV with a much clearer reticle.
Here is a budget-priced scope, Brownell’s MPO the 3-18x50mm34mm(T), Mrad E: 40, W: 30, reticle: illuminated, side focus: Down to 25 yards, Wt: 30.5, plus high-quality Japanese glass. The last time I was on Brownell’s website the sales price of $699.00. Brownell’s has a 5-25x50mm34mm(T), also the same price. I was considering Leupold Mk5 3.6-18x50mm35(T), Mrad E: 32, but it costs even with a veterans discount of about $1500.
The Leupold MK5 is a very solid scope especially for a lighter weight setup. I haven’t messed with the brownells scope. I’m curious if they actually make it or they have it made for them and just have their name on it. That’s actually pretty common when stores like that have optics.
Yes it would definitely work for that purpose. A few questions though if you don’t mind. Why are you going with a magnum especially to learn? The truth is that most people can’t handle the recoil of a magnum without it negatively affecting their fundamentals of marksmanship. Even if you can maintain your fundamentals of marksmanship. The more recoil the harder it is to shoot especially with how much movement there is. They cost more to shoot and you won’t be able to shoot it as much. The cartridge honestly doesn’t matter like people think. All it is a a vessel for velocity for the bullet. The bullet is what actually dictates performance both external and terminal ballistics. Example if I have a 308 win and a 300 win mag running the same bullet. I will have the exact same terminal performance at the same impact velocity. So if I shoot and the impact velocity is 2000 fps. It’s the same bullet so the performance will be the same. The only difference will be that the bullet coming out of the 300 wm will be a couple hundred yards further when it hits 2000 fps. If you slowed down the same bullet in the 300 wm to match the muzzle velocity of the 308 win with the same bullet. You would literally have the same drop, wind, and terminal performance at distance. So you can gain more range and velocity but you get a big increase in recoil and cost. One of the biggest issues I see troubleshooting and teaching people is having too much gun. I have gotten a lot of guys to switch to smaller non magnum cartridges and picking better bullets. All of them train more, shoot better, and they are more effective in the field hunting. I hunt long range on big game with 6mm creedmoor and 308 wins. If you’re going to start shooting long range I highly recommend getting a cartridge that you can comfortably shoot all day long. Something that you can practice a lot with. Later if you want to get a magnum great. However it will be harder to learn with the magnum. If it is too much recoil for you then it will be harder to undo the bad habits. Just my 2 cents hope it helps. If you have any additional questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Happy hunting.
Took a look at one in local shop but I’m like you…been through em and s&b…zeco…ior…tangent/premier..ziess and stiener…are what I look at…the zco 840 I want but I can’t quit buyin powder, brass, and bullets long enough…set a 2” pill bottle on post yesterday and busted it with that fn and the 110v max screamin from 254yrds. 3x15pst 2nd gen…held dead on and center punched it…there 2” ^@100 so perfect range for center hold…need to thread it and slap another 419 hellfire or the bigger 5port one on it..
Yeah honestly buying powder etc right now is the smart move. With the elections coming up and all the anti gun stuff. It’s going to be difficult to get here pretty soon. You can always buy a scope at any time. Reloading supplies are a different story unfortunately. It took me almost two years to get enough powder to switch over for my 6mm creedmoor.
Only thing I don’t like about this review its biased towards target shooting primarily. The scope is intended as a hybrid scope option for target and hunting. Its not going to be perfect for either but it does both very well. I really enjoy what it offers
How is the review “biased” towards “target shooting”? Scope’s for “target” shooting are very different. You won’t see them generally on a long range or short range setup. The rifles and scopes for bench rest style shooting are very unique. Scopes used by snipers, long range shooters, long range hunters, tactical matches, etc. They are not the same as a bench rest style scope. The review is about scopes for hunting short or long range. As a channel primarily for long range hunting the requirements and preferences are based off that. Tracking, glass clarity, etc are all important elements of a good scope. This is a lighter weight version for people who want to cut down weight. Doing that though has some drawbacks. It’s even more important for a scope to be reliable, track properly, and have good glass for hunting than target shooting. Hunting your data should be spot on and you need a scope that will reliably track for those first round point of aim point of impact hits. If you can’t see the animal then you can’t shoot the animal. It’s way more important for a scope used for hunting to be great than for just shooting targets. You can use your scope on your precision long range rifle for close range hunting too. A short range hunting scope can’t do long range well. A long range scope can do short or long range hunting. We also train farther than what we shoot in the field hunting. Example is if you shoot 500 yards in hunting and you train on the range out to 1200 yards. If you’re good at 1200 yards then it makes the 500 yard shot easy. So having a scope that is capable of doing that is important. Lots of guys shoot matches with their hunting set ups like the NRL hunter competitions. This allows them to train and learn their equipment. Having a scope that can do everything is a great benefit. My assessment is focused on hunting not target shooting. Good luck this hunting season and happy hunting.
so you have a budget 1000+ yard range scope for $400, that is o.k. at long range; but, then should rock inside 500 yards where most hunting really happens. Spend the money saved on amo to practice.
Honestly there’s plenty of people who really need to practice. I still recommend getting the best scope possible because there is a very real difference. In all honesty I didn’t expect much out of the Arken. I was actually quite surprised by it especially for the price. This is definitely a solid option for guys who don’t want to break the bank but want a decent scope.

If I don’t know I’ll reach out to someone who does. That way you are getting the best correct information. I see a lot of people who don’t know something not want to seem un knowledgeable. So they guess or make up stuff to seem like a expert and knowledgeable. That doesn’t help anyone and sets the person up for failure. If I know I’ll answer the question but if I don’t I will say I don’t know and contact someone who does know. I don’t have a instagram account. The online forum I think you’re referring to is called len’s long range hunting. That’s not me and it’s a horrible forum. I’ve heard that it used to be really good but has went downhill because of certain sponsors taking control. I don’t have TikTok, instagram, or any of the other stuff. The Arken cheap scope caps aren’t even in the same class as butler creek. Before calling someone a fudd you should actually know what you’re talking about.
Scopes can fill multiple roles and most scopes are used for hunting. This came about due to requests by some hunters for a lighter version of the EP5 for packing around the mountains etc. The EP5 is used for hunting too. Regardless of what labels it has for use it’s still the same testing criteria. Good luck this hunting season and happy hunting.

@@longrangehuntinggroup7223I watched a couple of your other videos and was so impressed I subed. I take back what I said, solid channel with video proof to back it up.🇺🇸
Good objective review, but in reading your comments and replies here, I noticed you plan to compare this to the EP5(probably already did).
I’m not here to sell or promote products. I’m just here to give independent, factual, and unbiased reviews. That way the person isn’t having to try and separate marketing from fact. I definitely appreciate you letting me know that the lighter version was done at the request of hunters looking for a lighter weight option. It’s always best to learn as much as possible in anything you do. Good luck this season and happy hunting.

What kind of camera is that attached to the scope??
It’s a Triggercam here’s a link.

Thank you!!!
@@kaponovictorno problem always happy to help. It’s imo the best scope camera out there. A little pricey but worth every single penny.
is there a link to Logan's optic store? sounds like a good dude.
Sure thing. Yes he’s a solid man and friend. Here is the link to his website.

nice. i have the ep5 5-25 56. and its a good scope. i think you would like that even better. bigger turrets and more elevation :)
Logan is sending me the EP5 to test and compare to the EPL4. Should hopefully have it this coming week.
You really need to review the EP5 or the SH4 Gen2. Most of what you personally nit picked is the difference on those other models.
I’m currently testing the EP5 and should have the video up in the next couple days.
Good video!
Good timing.
Ive just orderd a epl4 and the epl5 to check out.
I think the epl4 will suit the rifle lighter weight hunter purpose better than the 5.
I just grabed the epl5 as its such a bargain potentially.if its that much better ill just have to carry the extra weight 😂
Its only for a 308 with a 20ma ring set so the cons wont really effect its use as such.
Interested to check out the epf against my kahles k6-24×56 gen3
Nice let me know what you think of them once you have time to play with them.
@@longrangehuntinggroup7223
I will do:-)
@longrangehuntinggroup7223
Scopes rocked up.
Looking through the glass, I would say that the ep5 edged .
Looked a bit better generally & I could see a little more detail as dark was closing
I ended up mounting the epl4 on my M84 308 as it looks a better fit for this rifle.
Eye boxes were tricky off hand but not to bad when, when the epl4 was mounted it was ok.( nothing like my khales tho lol)
Interestingly, the epl4 had a better image with digital NV with a much clearer reticle.

Would you recommend this scope as my first scope for hunting with magnum caliber rifles and learning how to shoot long distance on a budget?
@@longrangehuntinggroup7223 thank you, I got it to go elk hunting, but it’s not my first time shooting a big rifle

monstrum g3 5-25x50... is it a better choice ?
The Arken EPL4 is a better scope than the Monstrum G3 5-25x50mm
New to your channel, sorry for your loss.
Thank you and welcome to the channel.
Sorry about your grandpa, friend. Good long life.
Thank you I appreciate it. Yeah he had a good long life and it was his time to go.
Good video brother.

Actual review starts a 13:30 !!!
Love how you have a moa reticle in a mil scope
That’s a mil turret and mil reticle scope not MOA
First of all ,may your grandpa rest in peace, May god give him higher rank in heaven, secondly ,i have been watching your videos for long time, informative and enjoyable, i just ordered my reloading stuff, just getting started because of you, and i wanted to say that i would love too see your instagram page or id, its a good plateform to share your videos, your website forum doesn’t work here in my country, and i have a question , how does H4895 work in 300win mag /308win and 7mm rem mag caliber, because thats the only powder i can find here in Pakistan,
Thank you I appreciate it. That’s awesome that you’re going to start reloading. I haven’t used H4895 before so I’m not sure. I sent a message to a buddy of mine who will know. He’s a expert in reloading and knows all the different powders etc. Once I get a response from him I’ll let you know what he says. I don’t make guesses or pretend to know stuff I don’t. I’m not in any of the online forums either. What are you hunting over there? I’m guessing probably rams or mountain goats. Do you guys have a hunting season or is it year around? Good luck hunting this year and I will let you know what he says about the powder as soon as he responds. Happy hunting.

The arken flip caps are fantastic. Some of these features are more tactical features, like the scope caps. Your fudd is showing.
They are cheap scope caps and scope caps aren’t a Tactical feature. If you want actual top quality scope caps then use Butler creek. They are used by a lot of people including on top tier scopes. The Arken cheap scope caps aren’t even in the same class as butler creek. Before calling someone a fudd you should actually know what you’re talking about.
Keep in mind that this is a Hunting scope.
