Thanks. I quickly checked out the Ep5 and sh4j Arken and found the eyebox of the SH4jvery tight and the EP5 eyebox much more forgiving. What is your impression of the eyebox on the EP4?
Today everybody gets these long rang rifles so they can shoot long ranges. But I see them neglecting their hunting skills doing this. Why put on a stalk, or even bother hunting, when one can just bushwhack bambi at 1200 yards? Theres no skill in that. No bragging rights around the campfire. Its time we go our seperate ways. Im looking for vids from the Ethical Hunting Group. Thanks for the vid.
@@doghousedon1 all you have ever done is just drop dumb comments. You are not here for videos or information. Your comments show that very clearly. You are just here to make uninformed statements about stuff you know nothing about and talk trash. This isn’t a train station no need to announce your departure. You are only making that statement to try and make it appear like you came here looking for something and didn’t find it. Instead of the truth which is you came here to troll. That shows especially on this video. This is a video on a new bullet and it was done at high velocity SHORT range. If you actually bothered to watch the video instead of just leaving comments you would know that.
Is this Form from rockslide??

Thanks I appreciate that. If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Any big hunting plans for this year?
Nice catch!
It’s rare to catch this the light has to hit it perfectly right. I’ve seen it a couple dozen times spotting before. Catching it on video is nice when you can get it.
Great video. Can this be done with winchester m94 30 30 win with iron sights with lever revolution ftx bullet?
Yes you can absolutely do high shoulder shots with your 30-30
@longrangehuntinggroup7223 Great.Thank you very much for answering on my question. But what would be maxium range when doing high shoulder shot with 30 30?
@@mladenkrsmanovic5814you will have to chronograph it to see exactly. Once you know your muzzle velocity input everything into a ballistics calculator. The bullet will expand down to 1700 fps. So look at what distance it hits 1700 and that’s the maximum effective range. You can do high shoulder from point blank to 1700 fps with the 30-30 muzzle velocity.
@@longrangehuntinggroup7223 Thank you.I wish you happy hunting.
Thanks for calling these guys out. Don't back down! Their dishonesty proves all we need to know about them. The people standing up for them with lies proves their ignorance. That deer didn't drop due to great performance. It dropped due to extreme pain. I have studied pain in animals and humans for many years and if hunters understood the pain animals feel, most hunters would quit hunting and the rest would never take even the smallest risk.
My uncle's a Elk hunting guide an there's been multiple customer's that uses this exact ammo in 7mm rem mag an they perform very well with clean pass through
New sub here! I absolutely love your no bs approach to all of this. Marketing often makes us believe we need the all 9 yards when in reality it is about the dedication, consistency and quality materials. Regarding the dies. Do you use standard FL sizing, bushing style, mandrel, any of that?
I use either rcbs match competition die sets or Reddings match competition sets. If I’m only shooting it in one gun I’ll just use the neck die as the brass is fireformed to the chamber. If I’m running the loads through multiple guns I’ll use the full length die. If you really want to learn about the best way to reload look up a channel called Hawkeye ammosmithing. My goal here is to help set hunters up for success by giving them the correct information. If I don’t know something or it’s not something that I’m an expert in. Good luck and if you have any additional questions for me don’t hesitate to ask.
@ thanks mate. Yeah what drew me to your videos was the “hunting with match bullets” topic. I have two precision rifles (.308 and 6.5 creed) and I hunt and shoot precision with both. I’ve been shooting factory ammo of either kind depending on the application (hunting vs target) and I want to get into reloading and find a load that gets me the best of both worlds. I don’t hunt past 300meters and from your videos Im leaning towards eld-m’s on both cartridges. Any other bullets I should look into? (Budget is definitely on top of the list) Cheers!!

I did a second try to measure the time between shot and hit...better result i think....i measured .28sec......so if i used that instead i would be closer....to the correct distance(still not perfect😉) Would love to see more of this👍👍it's real fun
This Professional gun,and fakken expensive, you straight middle ,the gun shooting very, raight, looks like 5 cm,this big fault!!!!!
Some additional information for you. The measurements of the bobcat are Tail to nose is 18 7/8” and foot to tallest part of the back just in front of the butt is 12 1/16”.
I don't think so
You don’t think so about what?
Max speed, max penetration
That’s not how it actually works though. The higher the velocity the less penetration you will get. The higher the velocity the faster the bullet will expand and expand more. This rapid increase causes more surface area contact. That resistance and displacement of tissue will slow the bullet down giving it less penetration.
Assuming it's about 15" to the shoulder, I'm gonna guess 416 yards.
Tail to nose is 18 7/8” and foot to tallest part of the back just in front of the butt is 12 1/16”.
@longrangehuntinggroup7223 gonna say 333 yards then.

I'm a bit confused.. the time from shot till impact makes me think about 200m.. but size in reticle , and clearity makes me think 5-600m.. hehe :) -maybe I'm wrong, and maybe it's a joke :) Either way, good shooting :)
The size of the reticle with a FFP grows or shrinks depending on the magnification. However the value of the reticle sub tensions remains the same. So no matter what magnification the marks in the reticle remains at .2 mils. I would focus on the time of the shot if I was you. Since you don’t know how to mil a target or the exact target size to mil the target it’s your best option.
okay..then about 250m
@@carlpedersen5046270 yards
I know that scope has .2 10ths spacing but that reticle drives me nuts for some reason. I’ll guess about 275ish
I didn’t like the reticle when it first came out either. It wasn’t until I actually got to spend time on one that I started liking it. Once you know how to utilize it it allows you to be very effective and fast. Especially when it comes to fast shots or corrections.

ELD Match from a 308 win
@longrangehuntinggroup7223 Wow!
@@kentuckywindage222 So it is actually pretty crazy. I had to drastically slow down the video to even see this. It happens so fast that even in slow motion you can miss it. A micro fragment of time when this occurred and I almost missed it. It is pretty crazy and as far as I know nobody else has footage of this. I could be wrong but I've never heard of this or seen it before.
@longrangehuntinggroup7223 I have not seen it either with ELDM. Maybe with an A-tip, if memory serves. Great catch.
Yeah buddy!
Outstanding!
Love how people are on the 308’s nuts with all the 6.5 stuff. Like buddy you know you can own both and eighty percent of you ass hats can’t hit a barn past 250
Yup the 308 was one of the top long range rounds including competition. Then the 6.5 creedmoor came out and people started telling me that it is a terrible choice for long range. I even saw one where they had done a bunch of videos shooting 1200 yards with 308’s and recommending the 308 for doing that. Then the 6.5 creedmoor came out. All of a sudden the same people are claiming that a 308 isn’t good past 600 yards for targets. Unfortunately there is a bunch of uneducated idiots out there that believe marketing and even go further. I literally had two guys at a range that I was the RSO running the range. They came into the office and asked for help spotting for them. They had both just had full custom 6.5 creedmoors built with top of the line everything. They were struggling to hit anything and wanted help. They had 400 rounds between them of factory match ammunition. They shot and were way off for wind so I asked what they held? They said that it’s a 6.5 creedmoor and they don’t have to hold wind. 🤦♂️ So I gave them a wind adjustment. Instead of listening to me they slowly adjusted one click at a time. By the time they finally had adjusted enough to hit the target. They had used almost a box of ammunition and they hit with my wind call. So you think they would realize I know what I’m talking about and listen. Nope they did the same thing at the next target too. We get out to 1000 yards and I give them 8 minutes right for a full value wind. No joke they tell me that is ridiculous and too much. That they don’t have to adjust that much for wind because it’s not a 308. 🙄 They decided once again not to listen to me. They shot, missed, adjusted one click, shot, missed, adjusted one click, and continued until they finally hit at 8 minutes. I had enough and wasn’t going to waste my day arguing with people who don’t understand the basics and won’t listen. Out of the 400 rounds they had 22 impacts in the whole day. I had another guy when I was running the range. He was telling some people on the range that the 6.5 creedmoor is what you have to have to shoot long range. That a 308 won’t even make it to the 1000 yard target. I didn’t say anything just walked into the office. I grabbed my M40 308 win and walked back out. I didn’t say anything to them. I just got setup and put 5 rounds on the 1200 yard target. He told the girls he was talking to that I clearly was shooting a 6.5 creedmoor to hit 5 shots at 1200 yards. I just smiled at him and said nope just my good old 308. He looked like he had been slapped and the girls were smirking. I just smiled at the girls he was trying to impress and went back into the office. I heard later from a buddy who was shooting. After I went back into the office he was bright red and was trying to come up with an excuse for me proving him wrong. He ended up going with the favorite I just got lucky. The girls weren’t buying it or anything he said after that. It’s amazing how dumb people can be. They will believe absolute nonsense and then argue against facts and evidence. The 6.5 is a weird thing honestly. You have people who think that it defies reality and is the greatest. You have guys who hate it and think it can’t do anything especially hunting. Both groups are guy’s who don’t know anything especially ballistics. Then you got the rest of us who know that it’s just another cartridge and the bullet is what actually dictates performance not the case.
Ok then disregard my comment on your new years post😂
Know you love the a-tips you might check out the afterburners from apex outdoors. Mono bullet with an atip. Think Rich Sherman has a hand in it
It has an aluminum tip but does not perform or operate the same as an A tip. I have become friends with the owner of apex. We actually have several friends in common. Rich didn't have any part of it. Mark is a very smart guy and did everything himself.

This coming Sunday (first full weekend in January) is the end of rifle season for deer, although we can still hunt feral hog. @@MatthewKyle-sg5uo Yeah unfortunately the industry has not kept up with the 270 caliber bullet selection. It has one of the least and worst selection of bullets.

Do you think a drilled 220gr smk (.0465" drill bit) at say 2700-2800fps would work well enough on whitetail say to 6-700 yards? Ive got a small fortune of 220s and have seen fine accuracy with drilled ones
You are going to want to keep your impact velocity above 1800 fps. Look in your ballistics calculator and see what distance the bullet hits 1800 fps. That will be your maximum effective range for that bullet in your gun. Something else to be aware of is impact angle. BTHP style bullets are more sensitive to impact angle. Too much angle and the tip instead of opening up, grabbing material, and expanding outward. The tip will fold over closing the hole. The bullet will instantly start to tumble before entering the body. The front of the bullet is going downward and the weight of the back of the bullet with the momentum. The back of the bullet will come forward as the tip goes down. This will cause the bullet to impact the ribs nearly sideways. The bullet at that point is unpredictable and can cause non fatal wounds or simply a fatal wound but slow to die. That’s why hollow point bullets have a higher minimum impact velocity than tipped bullet last. The tipped bullet the tip sits in a cavity almost like a V. It has two mechanisms for expansion. As the jacket starts to peel out it catches material causing it to expand. The tip is forced backwards in the cavity until the tip contacts the core. This acts like a splitting wedge forcing it outwards. Due to the shape of the cavity and tip they are less sensitive to impact angle. Even at an angle the tip on impact is guided back into the core by the shape of the cavity. This allows for much lower minimum impact velocities and better more consistent expansion. So just be aware of the potential issues with impact angle that the longer distances. Make sure you are keeping it above the minimum impact velocity of 1800 fps.
@@longrangehuntinggroup7223 great response, my major concern was the 220 not opening on deer sized game as they are pretty heavy. Do you think that would be a concern
@@zebacake4683with the higher sectional density impact resistance is your friend. Deer don’t offer a lot of resistance. I recommend doing high shoulder shots for better results. It will still open up with a lung shot as long as you’re above 1800 fps. However you will get better results with high shoulder shots.
