- Appearing on CBS Nightwatch on February 13, 1985, Jason and Justine Bateman discuss their blossoming careers. At the time that this interview took place, Justine was starring in "Family Ties" on NBC and the same network had just cancelled Jason's series, "It's Your Move".

These were two of the most natural and gifted teen actors of their time. I feel like they were that part of Hollywood that defined the 1980’s.

Jason Bateman has been acting for over forty years. Still handsome, still talented, still modest. Still underrated. Go Jason…….
They’re both so well spoken and articulate- very bright ppl with wise perspective at such young age. Bravo mom & dad 👍👍👍
Their parents did a great job w their kids and Jason still going strong 36 years later, he had that ‘something’ right out the gate and very cool that Justine indeed leave the biz to pursue her other paths
Justine didn't leave the business. She spends more time writing and directing than acting, but she has had numerous roles since the end of Family Ties. She was in one season of Men Behaving Badly, and had a reoccuring role in Desperate Housewives. She also had a lead role in the movie Satisfaction with Julia Roberts and Liam Neeson. She has written episodes of television shows, and has had a couple of books that made the best seller's list. She has also directed short films, and last year she had her major motion picture directoral debut with the movie Violet.
Great Job? Lot's of growing up missed. Lost decades.

@@halt2045 Yes but Justine disappeared for a large part of the 1990's when she was in a relationship with Leif Garrett. It was also the period she struggled with drug addiction.

Both were well-grounded kids. I remember Jason having a swagger about himself in those early days. He had a look, a grin or just how he delivered his lines made me think he was going places.

This is such a healthy and supportive sibling relationship their parents instilled in them. It’s not competitive , they both are so mature and professional. I do think 4 to 5 years is the ideal age gap between kids
Love “Family Ties” of course, but “It’s Your Move” was such a brilliant show. Such clever writing and great acting. To me, one of the best sitcoms ever made. I’m glad we got the episodes we have.

Jason Bateman career is going on so well because he’s famous more. His Sister is known for her television network on family ties.
Justine's career is nothing to sneeze at, though she has mainly been on the production side as a writer, director and producer. She has had a couple of best selling books, and last year she directed her first full length movie, Violet.

Clearly their parents were well balanced and guide them successfully, pretty rare.
Actually Jason talks about how his folks pushed him into acting as a child and they just mooched off his money . He fired his Dad when he was 20 and hasn't had much contact with them since. A few years back the mom was bad mouthing both of her kids to the tabloids, saying they abandonded her.
You have nooooooooooooo idea what those Hollywood parents did to those kids.

Its your move producer went on to create Married with children... so IYM was kind of like a predecessor to MWC. Lot of similarities in the writing.

Indeed. It started months earlier. Watch episode 1 (May '84) of Its Your Move (free on RUclips) and compare with episode 8 (Sep '84). Huge difference.
How many times does the interviewer have to say: "Your series has been canceled". Jeez, leave the kid alone.

It's not what you know, its who you know in the business. Just think of all the actors and actresses that were pushed aside because their mommy and daddy wasn't in Hollywood.
Yeah.....But once you know the horror of what REALLY goes on in Hollywood, those "pushed aside" had a VERY lucky escape...........

The title is wrong. It's Jason and Justine Bateman.
But where is she now, coz I only have seen Justin Bateman in the last decade or so. I wasn't a huge fan of him, something abt him I found off putting, but I did love Ozark, mostly bc of the women though, but he was good to, just not my favorite actor. Justine I really liked a lot, but haven't seen her in years, it feels ...

She aged perfectly. I love her look almost like a wise native America. I love how she talks about life as she sees it getting older and wiser. I try to watch ever interview with her and she is not putting all that poison in her body.
