It's a sad sign of the times, when superficial fake plastic beauty is what is pleasing as opposed to real women with inner beauty poise and grace with an articulation concise succinct and relevant
It’s really not thought of of as pleasing though because it’s almost always too much or done so late in age, so most people just just cringe at the result.

That was a very good interview she is a very smart person unlike the well known character she portrayed on family ties. Why are people so obsessed with the looks of actors/actresses....she is 54yrs old she isn't 19 anymore...everyone will get old eventually and you look in the mirror and notice it.
I purchased and read the book. What a great read. It really takes you through all the stages of fame. After reading the book one would never want to pursue fame for fame's sake . This book should be a prerequisite read for any future actor, singer, reality star, etc. One will truly understand after reading how much the cycle of fame and fame itself is unreal. Almost elusive. Any future child star should definitely have this read to them by any prospective agents, managers, and even their parents!
Use to love it when the joke was on her during an episode sometimes she would have to hold back a laugh or smile. I thought it showed she was having fun on the set.

@@chrisrandall2710 considering the quality of her content, I'd worry that perhaps it wouldn't be enough
Wow,what a intellectual and beautiful person
AN* intellectual not A intellectual. Say it out loud and perhaps this will help.
yeah Larry King still has it!
What a patronising comment, just because she has aged badly.
I remember seeing Ms Bateman at a small Whole Foods in the late 90's. I was stricken by how well she blended in with the crowd. As tempted as I was greet her, I could see she wasn't about that life so I left her be.
Electric Violin Lady Good move!
i love Justine hasn't fallen victim to plastic surgery,a beautiful woman aging gracefully and naturally i was shocked that i was shocked to see a natural woman on camera,i love how smart and eloquent she is and level headed and i love her sensibility also her brother is one of my favorite male actors his comedic timing is fantastic
She seems very cool. Too smart for that industry.
bojack40 You think?
Yes agree
I had the biggest crush on her when I was a kid and it's refreshing to see her still as beautiful as ever. She's real, highly intelligent, reasonable and experienced.
I’m reading the book right now. What a fascinating, unique individual. I love the way she sees things. As a female person approaching age 60, I can really appreciate her views and opinions about society and aging. I hope she writes more.
She's the whole package!! Love her.
The more you watch, the more beautiful, healthy and charming she appears
I agree.
EXACTLY!
Ok, I'm going to try.
She looks bad but not as bad as Larry King looks now. Lol
She looks like she chain smokes amd drinks are you kidding me look she looks 70 years old
I would love to see her on Ozark, even if its just a cameo role.
Steven Chagnon me too!!!!!!!!!
Steven Chagnon Ooooh. Great idea!
...here, here..!👍
YES. Was looking foward to it. !
Love ❤️ that show. Can’t wait for season 4.
I find her incredibly attractive and surprisingly wise.
Loved her then, love her now. A true gem of a human being.
Man what I would give to go back to my innocence of the 80's, but make all the right decisions
What an amazing interviewee. She is fantastic. She looks so great. Her energy is vibrant. Wow, I'd not seen her since Family Ties. She feels like the kind of person everyone should have in their lives.
I wish there would be more smart celebrities like Justine, and less vapid ones who have nothing to say.
I agree and that is probably why she quit and focused on her mind and other interests.
Boy, if that isn’t the truth!!
I'm sure there are plenty intelligent ppl in the industry but that's not what makes you famous in entertainment. For the longest time ppl like Geena Davis were also labelled as flaky actors, and not known to be smart enough to be Mensa material.
rias she’s so completely different from her Mallory Keaton character. They often say it takes someone intelligent to play someone so slow. I guess this was the case with her.😊
shes "smart" in the way people who drop lsd are "smart". I find her diatribes trite and boring
Oh wow...Justine! Just brings back memories. Those shocked by her appearance, so was I. Then I took a closer look, and she's at peace. Her expression, her eyes...this is a happy woman who has lived. We should all be so lucky.
people are so used to seeing stars that have had plastic surgery and botox . To see someone that looks natural for their age is odd to them . Look at Kristy Brinkley she has had so much done she does not look real any more . Women think they are supposed to look like that at 63
I have to say I am surprised. This is a great interview. I thought she was going to be another bitter or messed up celebrity. She is articulate, thought provoking and honest. I will probably get her book
Shes so articulate! Who gives a crap about her looks! She was an idol when i was a child...now as an adult for a more genuine reason. Kudos to her :)
She is open and intelligent and unafraid to speak about what matters, thanks for sharing Justine.
She is an intelligent woman who understands self actualization and she can not be phony to please others .
I always liked Justine, she just seemed like someone you’d like to know and hang out with...a friend.
Same here, I have always liked her. She reminds me of my sister.
Love her wisdom, her perspective, her willingness to put her real self out there. How refreshing and inspiring. She's the anti-Kardashian. Girls: Go into the world and be a Justine!
I've always appreciated her ease of presence; it's calming.
So true. Even as Mallory.
Beautiful, subtle comment
A very interesting individual. Obviously extremely smart, and a very good communicator. She makes very good points.
She looks great and Is refreshingly intelligent.
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her do a full on interview like that before, so I’m so glad she did it now because we all get to really know how accomplished, intelligent, well-read, and articulate she is. I’ve heard before she had gone through a really rough time in her personal life, both during and after Family Ties...but now I am very interested in how she describes it in her new book. It’s fascinating to hear her talk about it here. Congratulations, Justine!!
She's a lovely articulate woman! I'll be buying her book!
I have so much admiration for this woman. She's intelligent, strong, and a great role model to young women. She has refused to turn plastic, as have her contemporaries. I wish people would see past that. Anyone who criticizes her is extremely shallow. Listen to her words, all of you stone throwers.
Thank you for being one of the strong people to speak up here. People need to shut up and listen for a change.
@@jaimhaas5170 I felt the need. People are horrible, aren't they? Thus far, every comment besides ours have been a perfect learning opportunity for my three strong, intelligent daughters.
@@globalwarmhugs7741 it's really a decline in manners. Just like people who are looking down at their phones all the time and will not even say thank you to someone holding a door for them. I often see younger 30ish women being the absolute worst.
@Global Warmhugs, Right On! I agree TY, she's keeping it real not faking the funk! She went through a period of anorexia, which having that disorder alone ages you with the constant purging and deficiency in vitamins Overcoming that she's done TV,Movies,Theater,Writer of books & scripts,Producer,Director,Clothing Co.,degree in Computer Science, and is a licensed pilot. Oh, also a millionaire! So, people can throw all the stones they want, but there only going to bounce back and hit themselves in the head.
@@216Numbskull well stated and thought out. I wish I would see more comments that show critical thinking skills as you have demonstrated here.
So intelligent, so articulate! She is a gem. Thank you!
Great interview. Always liked Justine Bateman.
At first, I was taken aback with how she looked; but after listening to her, I respect her staying true to herself. Great job Justine 🧡👍🏼✌🏽
The comments here are exactly why so many women are doing botox and other fillers. We forgot what natural aging look like in women.
My sister is 56 and the other is 54 neither look like that. Naturally some of us arent used to ppl aging that way. And it seriously looks like drug use not aging.
she may have gotten a lot of sun and went through a lot of stress. she looks beautiful. she has been through a lot. God bless her. she does not look bad at all, but very natural and beautiful. God bless her. But, for the grace of God there went any of us having to have our lives scrutinized in a glass house.
@@daddyschoc every one is different. Some of the women i went to school with look years older some younger its genetic..to declare that some you don't know is on drugs is a stretch and also quite disrespectful..
Nah nah, something is wrong unless she's in her 80's or 90's. Whatever age she is glad she alive.
Right the frick on! There should be no shame in aging!
The disparaging comments illustrate her entire premise. She is amazing, possessing very high emotional intelligence usually uncommon in high IQ people.
That's a brilliant observation. You are PRETTY AMAZING yourself! PRETTY and AMAZING I should say..
Jude, you needed to take a deep and lengthy look in the mirror before writing what you did because good looks isn’t a strong asset of yours. Your insecurities and inferiority is showing.
Jerry Donahue, go ahead and google “emotional intelligence”. It is relevant. Also, how is it that being Jewish somehow explains her feelings on fame and all the trappings?
If you have no control over your emotion, then you are not being “emotionallly intelligent”
yes, the problem is Hollywood doesn't care about your IQ. It only cares about your sex appeal.
I love her inner strength and wisdom, she is flower that bloomed
The world needs more ppl like Justine. 👌👏👏🙏
I never buy celebrity books, but this seems a little deeper, like there might be a lesson in there for all of us! I think I’ll have have to pick this book up! Good interview!
She's 54, natural, and lovely.
52
@@R0yL33 no. She's 54.
@@RB-tx4mnThe interview was done in 2018 (see description). She was born in 66.
Wow I thought she was in her 60s. Ouch!
April May Maybe you should get out more.
I'm glad she hasn't pumped her face full of that junk like all the other actresses over twenty-five.
no she has just been pumping her body full of nicotine which destroys elastin which is why she looks old for her age
Tobacco, kids.... not even once....
@@RussellBarth 🤔
@@RussellBarth I agree...she could've taken care of her face/neck and skin way better...she looks old for her age...her body seems ok though...nevertheless, she seems more deep and thorough than most of celebrities...it's sad she quit acting because the industry needs people like her...she was talented and could've evolved tremendously as an actress...
I know imagine how she would look with duck lips and fillers. She`s extremely intelligent and a natural beauty.
@@andshewas296 She wouldn't need duck lips or fillers...just a great face and neck rejuvenation/lifting, a great moisturizer and hair treatment...
She is a lovely erudite woman, and I hope she is happy and healthy and fulfilled with her life.
I like her a lot. She exudes so much class and confidence. A very sensible and honest lady with nothing to prove.
"More importantly, when did I discover that other people couldn't do that?" I Love this Lady!!!
I love who she is. She is inspiring. It's sad that she is rare and all the fame seekers are the populous.
absolutely love her intelligence, honesty and personality... Go girl
If Justine was a man she would still be famous, *if* she wanted to be. I’m glad she’s writing and directing. We always need more great women in those fields. Looking forward to seeing more of her work.
Wow...I did not intend to watch the whole video, but Justine is super bright and awake.
Same. Very uplifting & refreshing.
@@sharondianneb Maybe we have been programmed to elevate famous people since we started watching television. Remember when television had issues...and we would get an error message that states: welcome to your regularly stationed programs. Someone pressed a Hasidic Jewish fellow who owned media stations...and he said...we gave you rap...rock and roll. Please watch the interview with Harold Wallace Rosenthal...it will change the way you perceive media....I guarantee. Peace to you.
JB is the dopest, coolest person. Hope she writes more books.
This is why famous people should have pets. Pets don't know or care that you're famous, or no longer famous. They treat you the same either way. It would be a very grounding thing for somebody whose reality is shifting.
You make a very good point.
My grand ebony cat agrees.
Very intelligent and down to earth with a good grasp on her self and the world around her. Admirable.
Welcome to another episode of “where quarantine has led me today”
shigeolincolntaco I’m right here with ya!
😁
Haha. I see your point. But I did not need quarantine to send me down some strange youtube rabbit holes that make me question how I spend my time.
yep
Oh, I agree....
I don't think she looks sick. She looks like a strong woman for her age.
Film/Video can be unforgiving. In person, she will look different. And, I think we are so used to seeing women in their 50s, who've had so much "work" done that we don't know what a natural 50 year old face looks like.
Agreed if she had never been famous and just met her out walking her dog you would likely be impressed by her intellect and her fitness and think she looked good for a woman post 50.
Yes. Thank you.
I think you need to take off your blinders!
True.....she's also lost alot of weight.
Actually she would look even skinnier. The camera adds 10 pounds. Anyone in TV knows that.
Wow, I feel old seeing Justine in her middle years. I used to watch Family Ties every week back in high school and it feels like such a short time ago but it was 30 years ago. I'm in my 50's now and it feels like a time warp thinking back to that time. I am really enjoying listening to her. She's very intelligent. I think Larry did not quite follow everything she was saying, lol.
Yep. He wasn’t as smart as she clearly is.
The 80's really was a unique time in history, wasn't it? A fleeting time in history that one had to be there to fully appreciate.
Wow, I was "not" expecting to watch this whole interview.
More so, I was "not" expecting to be as surprised "and" entertained as I was/am....
Of course I know who Malory is...….I'm 49....
Justine seems really wise....years can do that for you.....and she is still very attractive.
I find the gleam in her eye, the diction of her words and the smile on her face very attractive....
Not that my opinion really matters, but I am extremely impressed with her and this interview.
I agree. I enjoyed Family Ties back in the day; it was one of my favorite shows. But I was never a Justine 'fan', so to speak. Yet, I enjoyed this interview immensely. She is so articulate and intelligent. Great interview.
What an interesting interview. I love her intelligent observations and realness. The most refreshing thing is that she looks, well, normal, and does not have the creepy Hollywood look, which usually includes balloon lips, stretched skin, and botoxed stiffness.
What an articulate and insightful woman! I would like to read her book
So refreshing to hear a “celebrity” who is an articulate thinker; it is sadly a rare occurrence.
I’d love to listen to her any day compared to the Kardashians
Very well spoken. Very well adjusted. One of the most grounded famous people I have ever heard speak about the topic of fame.
She is still a classic beauty and brilliant all respect!
When did he die?
Strong, intelligent, and articulate. It's good to see Justine again.
I watched Family Ties back in the day. Her book sounds like it’s going to be a good read🤔❤️❤️
I always loved Mallory! justine is so natural and unaffected - she's real! She is very grounded and smart! 😀😀
Not a Larry king fan but Justine’s intelligence is interesting
I've always loved Justine. So cool to see her reflective and introspective side shine through here. She's someone I'd love to have cup of coffee with, no loss for a great conversation with depth and wit!!
That was a very good interview she is a very smart person unlike the well known character she portrayed on family ties.
Why are people so obsessed with the looks of actors/actresses....she is 54yrs old she isn't 19 anymore...everyone will get old eventually and you look in the mirror and notice it.
I know look at a soul, and enjoy the wrinkles
She looks 74 yo
She looks great. Hasn't put plastic in her face but looks attractive still. And not superficial.
She looks worse than the average 54 yr old...and larry....he has looked like a shriveled little man long as I can remember.
she's a little more wrinkly than I'd expect at 54 years old... she was likely a smoker or spent too much time in the sun
it would be interesting to learn more about her parents. Clearly she and her brother had a great foundation. It seems so many young actors do not.
I just finished the book and have to say it's a great read. I highly recommend it.
Somebody needs to interview Larry lol... He's gonna live forever. He's been married 8 times, I know he's got a story to tell.
