Not so fast. 98% of the population don't earn enough to repay mortgages and the interest rates are too high. We need to get the basics right before expanding consumer credit and mortgage.
Of course we do have mortgages in Nigeria but it's limited because the economy is in shambles, electricity is absent, business regulations are still horrible, corruption is sinking the country and the rule of law is non existent. We need to fix all of these so that businesses can thrive before we talk of expanding consumer credit and mortgage. I'm not saying the whole country has to be developed, but the basics need to be put in place first

In the 1970’s+ the Federal Mortgage Bank was in existence and effective. Nigeria is a rudderless country where institutions do not work because those manning such institutions can make decisions without recourse to legislature which is equally and majorly a collection of comics.

This podcast is very informative . Inspiring and thoroughly mind blowing. We need people like uncle dele to continue to speak out their past experiences so that youth out there can lead history and learn how impactful they were to how democracy. Uncle dele my respect for you went up knowing you are honest with integrity and your story is totally inspiring to me and other people out there. It’s a story of resilience, patience and contentment. Even though I do know the reason you blocked me on IG I am sure i was never uncouth or insulting. and that’s okay. You choose whomever you want to see your content. but I still look forward to watching any of your interviews. Wishing we still have people like you because people like you are indeed scare in our generation.

Your story is unique sir, it's been a while since we heard organic stories like this among Nigeria elders . Many processes like vision, passion for the visions, and proper planning with time without being selfish are embedded in your story. Your story is so encouraging, and most things you said are worth emulating. Long life in good health are my wishes for you, sir. Kudos to the host. You are such a professional .

WOW!!! Such an Intelligent Man, I learnt a lot from this. I learnt that you should spend the early stages of your life building and developing yourself, Learning and thinking of how to contribute what you have learnt into the system of Nigeria and people to impact lives positively. I was blown away by the first copy of OVATION magazine I saw and remained a customer until the print edition ended. I agree with you,Sir, that Nigeria should modernize the financial system to make credit available to qualified individuals to grow the economy. Low interest rate is essential to the development of the country.
