@Free YT Films if you refer to the 1996 stock on the jubilee line, that's normal ... it's the same inverters : GEC Alstom GTO .... but with different settings
The e320 wins at take-off. I love how the motor sound transitions from medium pitch to high pitch. So cool. The e300 wins at high speed passes though. It has this unique sci-fi sound that I think even the Stargate Atlantis producers borrowed to create the Wraith Armada sounds (Season 1E17, "Letters From Pegasus").
The 373 sounds amazing on startup! But, importantly, it also sounds amazing from inside too, and amazing as it passes at speed. The 374, I don't know what that sounds like from inside, but it can't be as good as the 373 at speed because NOTHING sounds as good as a 373 at speed! :-D
@@ag6371 That's because the first and last coaches are also powered, making them an EMU railcar (not a powerful as a loco), as evidence by the large vent on the ends of them right past the vestibules closest to the locos. So, the Eurostar e300, formally the British Rail Class 373, is actually a hybrid between a loco-hauled train and an EMU.
@Andrew Gomez oh, interesting, I mean class 465 /1s and 0s have Hitachi traction systems. And that is a Japanese technology. (But they still have original motor though, or parts of it anyway , it's still pretty sluggish sadly, but I love them regardless )
Definitely Class 373. I remember watching on RUclips class 373s passing by at reduce speeds on the old Third rail system near the former junction connecting with SWR lines out of Waterloo. And screaming past at Stratford International. But the e320 does excelerate alot quicker and has a very cool sound of its own.
Love the sound of the motors and fans on the 373, so satisfying to hear, especially when passing at speed. Hearing the Siemens 374 powering off sound better than I thought, but passing at speed sounds just like any other train.
Off topic, but I love the sound of of the class 68 Diesel loco (on UK railways) with its low level throbbing noise. Very impressive loco with a quick acceleration. Though not as quick as the class 800 electric locos (UK railways) which fly out of a station. But they sound push and too tinny.
i like the siemens 374 when it's starting, however the Velaro's starting sound will change depending on voltage. IMO, when this trains travels under either Netherlands voltage or German voltage, it is 100% better than what is heard on this route. but i like 373 WAYYYY more at speed. the satisfying NYOOM NYOOM NYOOM is undefeatable.
the Classic Eurostar wins by a mile with that hum that turns into a ghostly howl! though the Modern Eurostar has a cool start up whir it don't really like it as much and some Ice Trains are the new Eurostar model train
That ghostly sound comes from the cooling fans. The traction motors actually produce a high-pitched whirr when heard in the vestibules of the first and last coaches
I prefer the e320 sound I love the way they look and sound when increasing and decreasing it’s speed and it’s my favourite Eurostar train I went on it to France a few months ago and it was really enjoyable
yes because he use GTO system as 209 series(Mitsubishi GTO) and the same manufacturer for 4000 series Seoul metro : GEC Alstom GTO VVVF.(only a part of the fleet)
They both sound so good. It is hard to choose now that I hear the E320 sound. But I think that the E300 wins as it does have more power and 3 sounds on IGTB warm up. Plus it can achieve higher speed
No the TMST (e300) max speed is 300kmh while Velaro (e320) max speed is 320 kmh but you are right, the e300 has more power than the e320 but the e320's material is way lighter and they are way more efficient than the e300
Test runs on High Speed 1 & LGVs showed that E300 only performed 334km/h whilst E320 performed 352km/h. E300 has the worst power-to-weight ratio amongst the TGVs, mostly attributed to it's weight. I mean most TGVs only haul around 8 coaches whilst the TMST hauled 18 coaches. Also worth mentioning that they are quite outdated already by now, if they were to be based off the POS or Euroduplex they may have had better power and thus could've outperform the E320.
i just ride on the new eurostar 320 set from rotterdam to london if its comes to comfort i prefer the old original sets who drives more comfort and stable ad high speed but sounds i like both them
The E300 TMST set by a country mile, it sounds like the starship Enterprise. The Siemens attempt sounds like someone’s sampled an elephant being castrated.
373 because it's one of my favourite train sound and when it goes past it sound so satifiying

if u like that, then check out the siemens C151 that isnt refurbished
The e320 takeoff is like a jet engine 😂
374=screming elephent

I prefer the E300s by far, but credit to the E320 it does sound weird and cool
I prefer the e320 coz the duration is longer
The class 373 motors just sound so much better, it feels like the train is under pressure to get moving.
They both sound kind funky as they pull away, but lets be honest, no train beats the WooWoooWoooWoooWoooWooo sounds of a 373 passing at speed! :-D
That comes from the cooling fans and not from the traction motors

which train you like?

Ok
Both are great
Gotta say, the E320 certainly has the cinematic appeal for accelerating. As an American, I will never get to see these but it's quite facinating.
Class 373 (e300) love the zoom noise they make at high speed
The 1992 tube stock on the central line sounds like my hoover
I thought it sounded more like washing machine lool, I'd say 465 (brels) sound much like a hoover
Lol

There is nothing like the sound of an E300/Class 373 at full speed. They will be missed
The classic Eurostar. Class 373 with it's two power cars, sounds awesome when it powers up and leaves the station.
And the special sound they make at high speed .
I love the E300 motor sounds. They are my favorite
374 because it’s one of my fastest and favorite train sounds and when it passes any station it is so satisfying
373 has very good traction motors, I can't wait to hear one of them one day maybe.
I will never forget a eurostar e300 briefly stopping at Beckenham Junction then starting up again
Both trains very nice, and a great video ! Thanks for sharing your great views :-))
Thank you for your kind words!
The 373's startup distinguishes Eurostar from other HSTs until the 374 was introduced
Which one is louder/quieter though? What are the actual dB and/or dBA readings?
Off topic, but I love the sound of of the class 68 Diesel loco (on UK railways) with its low level throbbing noise. Very impressive loco with a quick acceleration. Though not as quick as the class 800 electric locos (UK railways) which fly out of a station. But they sound push and too tinny.
800s aren't electric, they're bimode.
And they're multiple units, not locos
The Class 374s have Nice Motors! The 374s are My Favourite Trains In Eurostar.
Me gusta el sonido de ambos trenes!! 💙💙💙
373 will always be my favourite!
The 374 is good, but the 373 is legendary
Great video.☺️ The class 373 is my most favourite international train ever especially because of the Traction motor sound.☺️
E320 is just... AMAZING!!!
Yea I agree
True but the e300 are better
I agree, the Motors of the BR Class 374s are Amazing!
On the second one I was waiting for the beat to drop for a second
I hear this in St Pancras International when the eurostar departs.
The acceleration capability of Eurostar trains 373 is not inferior to distributed power trains E320, Amazing!!
It's TGV
Can the E300 passenger cars be de-coupled? From far, it looked as if their wheels are right below the vestibule between each coach
Both have amazing motor sounds but got to go with the Class 373/E300

yep, it is! It's more powerful, hence it has good acceleration.
373 from inside has an epic motor if you get that good seat near the front
