    Clearly I'm a little late getting on the bandwagon here but thanks for this video! I have run across Belle Poque on Amazon but never considered checking out their website. I'm blown away by how much stuff is on their website and already found a dress I can't wait to order. I am plus sized too so finding cute things in sizes that actually fit is amazing. Thank you!!!

      The strawberry earrings are vintage! I haven't found any similar ones online yet sadly!
      The sheer white capelet was from a shop called The Wardrobe Shop but I don't think they have it anymore.

      I did not like the belt with that skirt. I think a colored belt to match a colored top would look really nice with it. Also, I worked in fashion retail and a trick is you can tack the belt loops to fit a different size belt to keep the belt in a more flattering location on the waist. Very nice video!

    Great video. I love vintage also and have bought quite a few lovely '40's vintage dresses and some from the 50's. The one I wore in a video yesterday is from the 1940's, but was home made - by a very good seamstress it has to be said. You look stunning in all your try-ons.

    Hello! I subscribed to your channel a few days ago and have been viewing your videos as I get ready for the day or do dishes. I love your content and am watching this one for a second time as I love this brand and the way you style your pieces. I own many pieces from the higher end pinup/vintage inspired brands, but I like to have more cost effective pieces for the days I don't want to chance a more expensive piece getting damaged. I wanted to recommend a dress I own in a multitude of patterns from Amazon. These are by no means vintage looking, but toss on a cardi some cute shoes and accessories and it is a very nice inspired look with comfort. Being a mom I find these to come in handy often and I always get compliments on them even though they are pretty basic. I recommend the patterned ones as the solid colors are a different fabric content and I don't find as flattering to curves. The 2 solid ones I have I usually wear a skirt over and find that is the only way I like them. Also your family is adorable and my 5 year-old has got me hooked on Star wars. I am having so much fun sharing the journey with him. Hope you have a lovely day! smile.amazon.com/FENSACE-Womens-Sleeveless-Floral-Summer/dp/B07BPW6M1Y

      @@WithLoveKristina do you have any issues with your B.A.I.T footwear coming apart? I have glued all 3 of my Kiki sandals and some straps of my heels back in place multiple times. Even the rubber soles will come off and need to be glued. It is so frustrating as I do not wear them on a daily basis (due to the quality issue). Sadly it is hard to come by a cute wedge sandal in that price range. I have not tried the bettie page wedges yet, but will have to find at least a black or red pair to try. Do you have any suggestions? Any would be greatly appreciated. ❤

    What size do you wear? The clothes run really small for a 2 x

    • @WithLoveKristina
      @WithLoveKristina  3 года назад +2

      I wear between a L-XL depending on what it is.

    • @DK-zu6tt
      @DK-zu6tt 2 года назад

      My measurements are: 45"-35"-42, and I typically wear a 2x in Asian made, Amazon clothing. However when I am shopping at US big box stores, like Macy's, Kolh's, and the like, I usually wear a L-XL, and if it's petites, which incidentally fit me better in the top because I have relatively small upper bust (just above my boobs) and a 6" full bust adjustment to make a top fit me well in the area between my upper boobs, shoulders and armpits (no poofing), I wear an XL-XXL in petites, especially nicer made coats and dresses, petites are my go to even though I am a sturdy built woman. But honestly, I bought 3 sweaters that were all akin to vintage 1950's style at Target just recently, and I bought smalls in all 3. I could get away with this because the sweaters were 60% cotton (able to reshape them to suit my body after washing and while laying out to dry), and they had raglan shoulders with a mock-turtleneck collar, so the fit was more snug like a "sweater girl" sweater and the waist band sat very comfortably on my natural waist, giving me a slimmer look and working well with my circle skirts. And only $20. Colors kinda "off," but black is a classic, and the wine/burgundy color actually works for me.

      Do not pay attention to sizes in terms of any guilt or other social BS (I know this easier said than done...). Read the size chart and look at the fabric content, and whether there is any elastic (like in the back of the waistband), and above all else, read reviews. After reading the size chart and looking at the other features of the garment, guess which size might work for you, then sort the reviews by that size (type say, "XL" in the "Search reviews" box. Often, someone will tell you their measurements or at least their bra size, height and weight, so you can get a better feel of what will fit. I'd say by doing this myself at least 75-80% of what I buy on Amazon, and I buy a lot, fits me as expected when it shows up. However, sometimes, there just aren't enough reviews, and I do my homework and hope for the best. Like, I recently bought a Belle Poque shirt I thought would work and it was a train wreck. It was a blouse that had a finished band at the waistline which was supposed to sit at the waist. Belle Poque made it wide enough for my boobs (but way too wide in the shoulders), and did not increase the bodice length as the sizes went up, so it was a full on belly shit barely covering the bottom of my boobs. Since there were no reviews to help me, I definitely left one with my measurements and described how crappy if fit me, to help others decide if it will work to them. Always pay it forward and leave a detailed review with your measurements to help a sista out down the road. :) And don't me started about Walmart's sizes, I am a small in everything, and there's no way my measurements are a small anywhere except Walmart and men's clothing. LOL!! Good luck, shopping for clothes as a woman in the US is a minefield, and I have always wished, designers would standardize sizes a bit better. I hope something in my comment will be of use to you.

    Belle Poque is OK for fast fashion. It's too bad they don't have a separate higher end line, with quality fabrics, built in full linings made from fabric that will slip with tights and the like. I would gladly pay 2-3X what they charge if their items were classic designs made of high quality (linen, silk, and cotton mixes of both aforementioned, wool and wool blends---i.e. no crappy polyester). Plus, sometimes they may have the right width for say a 45" bust, HOWEVER they don't increase the length of a bodice, so that the waist does not sit right and the waistline rides up on your boobs if you are large chested. So a few structure issues, and higher quality/construction--and they would be on to something. Even higher end Retro places, Unique Vintage and Top Vintage and Collectif, etc. want a lot of money, and while the styles are more varied, the quality is not higher (nothing is lined in a $100 dress). That's why I have started sewing my own clothes. Not only will that guarantee fit, but I can control the quality, fully line dresses and skirts with high quality materials and construct things that will stand the test of time. I just wish I could speed up my learning curve, lol.
