The "Tweedish" outfit says land Girl to me. My grandmother caused a bit of a scandal in her village in WW2 by starting to wear breeches while driving the milk float. A woman in trousers - shock horror!
It is a rather fetching outfit! 🖤 your 🌱Land Girl🌾 reference! Your gran was a maverick!👍 📸 Have snaps of my momma in black pedal pushers as a teen w/her Audrey Hepburn pixie cut. Once wed, she never wore pants. She'd wear dresses & pearls to do 🏡house-cleaning! In her more casual clothes, she always looked 💐pretty as a pin. Of course, she would get 👄glammed💄up for nights out w/my pops. Looking her best at all times through-out her life was important. As I discovered, that sort of thing takes tremendous planning, discipline & commitment. Used to follow her example more, but lockdown has me loitering about in jammies. 👀Nothing to see here! ☀️Living in such a hot climate, I envy you folks that can routinely don the tweeds & heavier woven menswear fabrics too. If I'm lucky, there will be 1 or 2 days of year ❄chilly❄ enough where I can stand my lovely pair of lined black wool trousers. ☺
I can unfortunately relate to the people giving you looks thing. I went to go see Crimes of Grindlewald with my sister when it came out and we were both wearing vintage Hufflepuff scarves that I had knitted bc I love Harry Potter very much. I went into the bathroom and these two girls about my age were just glancing at me in a way that they thought was discreet and when they left the bathroom, I could hear them laughing through the other side of the door. Sure, this hurt me a little but once I got outside and saw my sister smiling at me, I felt better. It's sad that some humans are awful, but I'm glad that I have people around me to support me and make me feel like I belong. I would say to just forget about them Rachel, if they don't have anything that makes them as happy as your clothing does to you or my scarves do for me, then it's just sad for them. Love you honey 💕
Gali Alvarez-Quepons, the fact that they were that obsessed with your outfit which didn’t appeal to them means they have no life. A regular person ignores what doesn’t attract them and surrounds themselves with their likes and hobbies. They have no interest in making rude side commentary about interests that deviate from theirs because they feel they have better things to do with their time. You have to wonder how vapid their lives are.
@@pompom4458 thank you! And yes, i made the scarves bc i personally think the vintage version is cuter than the modern one and my sister and i love Newt so much so it was like we were his fan club. Lol i think she and i were some of the only ones in the theater that day. Idk why but it wasn't really busy, i remember a guy walking in late and leaving 10 mins later
They were probably jealous, I know I would have been, and the fact that you made them is even more impressive!!! I love Newt and I'm a Hufflepuff, if I was there, I'd wish to join you!! XD
Dear Ms. Maksy, a pale complexion, red hair and forest green are a mighty combination. Also, may I say, the Gilda hair flip caused me some injury and my desk chair will need repair. Very funny and creative as always. Well done!
Loved these outfits! Also was really excited to see the Outlander top! Love that show! Honestly I appreciate people who wear uncommon clothing/style etc SO MUCH! Because so many people do get stuck in the shirt and jeans casual, or all dress alike in the current fashion trends. It's nice to see people who dare to stand out! Takes more gutts, more creativity etc etc. Not saying there aren't other ways to express creativity and that dressing "normal" means you aren't. But when you dress outside the box, you have to think outside the box to make things work.
I work at Hot Topic and we recently went through our super old back stocked stuff and there was SO MUCH OUTLANDER OLD STOCK. I purchased the green, knit, button down poncho thing and omg that whole line is everything. We still have so much of it and I’m gonna end up buying it all if no one else buys it.
I think I've already said it a million times but you're my main fashion inspiration ever since I got into a more vintage/alternative style. You're halfway between a hobbitish and a badass pin-up style and GURL THIS IS WHAT WE WANT IN LIFE. ❤️❤️❤️👌👌
Great video! I used to do favorite-outfits-of-the-year posts on my blog, but I had never thought of doing the same as a video and it works so well. Also, the collar on the blouse you have on here is just too stunning, so beautiful!
Love the Outlander top. It's making me want to give Outlander a try. I've avoided it because, as a Scot, I've been burnt too many times by terrible American representations of Scotland. Plus, the lead woman is English, they never make the lead in these shows/films a Scottish woman. But, gah, the 18th century fashion 😍😍 It's on my bucket list to dress up in a full, proper 18th century dress repro (original would be impossible and too scary). Speaking of, have you seen The Favourite, Rachel? It's so good, and the dresses are so beautiful.
Love you as Gilda hehe! Also, the best thing about these outfits is that they are wearable and classy at the same time, which is, honestly, sometimes hard to blend! You're an inspiration 😍🧡
Hi Rachel. I love your channel and your personality. I wanted to say that you not only look great in the vintage clothes, but it’s also a wonderful secondary effect how it’s good for the environment because you are reusing something instead of letting it go to waste.
the mourning blouse is so amazing! I cant believe what good shape its in. Those ladies would stay in mourning attire for several years depending. Queen Victoria started that whole trend and it became almost a must do. Now that would be awesome as a Halloween costume.
I personally really love seeing what I would consider wearable outfits! Bring all the forest green, creams, and browns! It’s got me scheming up some new work outfits!
I love these types of videos because your style is what really inspired me to want to start dressing vintage. I used to be put off by the vintage styles I often saw on social media because they were either the brightly colored and full of bold patterns look or the more trendy pastel and cutesy look. I have nothing against those styles, but they never suited me. Your earthy sophisticated semi-simplistic style really appeals to me and makes me excited to continue building up my own vintage wardrobe.
"What would Evie wear?" & "wool, linen, corduroy" is my style too! I have a serious Ralph Lauren vintage fetish. Especially the old Rugby line. If you want to dream a little, check out RRL catalog pics.
Loved it!! I wish you could make a video with some suggestions about buying vintage stuff from Etsy, EBay and Amazon (specially for your European subscribers; something like accurate English expressions or words, prices, etc 😉) kisses from Portugal! 😘❤️
Campos Lucie ikr! She's wardrobe goals😍 I live in a very warm humid climate so I hate that I can't wear 75% of all these outfits without attracting even more attention from already dressing vintage😭😆
The last time I went to a store in something weird, I had on prosthetic elf ears and a Renaissance style dress, and I got a teenage girl come up to me and fangirl because I looked like Arwen. I thought she was going to start crying. I also made a five or six year olds dreams come true. Walmart is great.
I love that you have retro, romantic, fantasy style. It makes what you wear interesting and amazing. The dull, uninspired sheep of the present might never get it but it's their loss.
Oh my GOSH Rachel! My favorite outfit of all time is the one Meryl Streep wore when she got married in "Out Of Africa". Make an outfit like that! It would look awesome on you!
I loved your finale gown! I barely ever dressed up last year, I tend to default to "regular" clothes, jeans and t-shirts, for many reasons, but I want to keep pushing my wardrobe toward vintage-inspired looks more often. It's way more fun to dress that way. I also really like the detail on the collar of the outfit you're wearing here! So pretty!
So many fantastic outfits Rachel , and so well modelled , they are totally amazing and you carry these beautiful clothes so well , you are an inspiration , great character , your vlogs are so amusing and entertaining , you make my day !! And Frodo is an absolute sweetiepie !!
If it's any consolation, I've been extremely happy since you left your job because it meant I got to see more of you!! You're doing amazing!! Love your videos ❤️❤️❤️
Could you post a video about how some strangers react to your style of dress. Both negative and positive? The little rant in this video was greate. Though I'm sure at the time it didn't feel funny at all.
KaityCameleon Shea, as someone who loves floor length styles of the 1700s-1800s, I wonder this too. I’m trying to collect enough courage but I worry I’ll look like I’m in a pseudo period costume and become the local outcast for straying too far from “acceptable” fashion.
@@hotjanuary Do it any way. Once I started dressing vintage the staring was to much for me at first. I stared back and I got mad at some people. And I live in the very urban side of Chicago and use public transportation all the time. Then I realized how stupid I was acting and learned that I will never ever have the power to change people, and finally let the looks go. And also once I quit looking at people to see their reactions it actually stopped bothering me so much. Now when people react to my dressing vintage (1940s-1950s) I get nice comments, even at work. Finally had the chance to watch this vid and I wasn't disappointed. I love all your outfits and how you incorporate vintage with newer pieces. I wish I could dress more vintage but I work in a preschool so I can't. I can't wait to see how you incorporate more vintage into your wardrobe. PS I would say hide Frodo's squeaky toys before you film but it's too cute & funny to watch him squeak them lol
I adore your videos!! I tend to watch them in the mornings because it's such a nice way to start my day! Also I live for your outtakes!! Give a hug to Frodo from me
I just love watching how you put the pieces together. Such great inspo for those of us who maybe aren't original, but we can hella copycat (flattery!) people who are!
I am soooo happy to get all of these awesome vlogs! Lovin’ it! Frodo was cracking me up, and seriously should win photobomber of the year. At one spot he was in the background in a standoff with the cat. Too funny! My fav outfits were the gown, the tweed jacket outfit and the one with the Outlander inspired blouse. All of them are fabulous!!
Omg how I love you and your pets. It seems like they all wanted your attention in this one. I love all your outfits this past year. My fave color is green. So when you would wear green i would get super excited. Evie is the reason why I follow you hard core because i love Rachael Weiz and her character. I just love the whole first 2 MUMMY movies. She rocks
Oh, those are amazing! And I love this type of compilation/inspiration video. I never have ideas for the horrible summers here in Alabama, nor can I find shoes I can run around at work in.
Your content is SOOO GOOOOOOD. It gives me feels and I dig it. Your lookbooks are so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Keep doin whatcha doin, cause it's great.
It's hard to say what my favorite outfits from you are since all of them are so unique and you can't help but stare and admire! I loved your Rita Hayworth Gilda dress. I knew instantly it was Rita inspired. 😍😍😍🤩
LOVED this video! When I look at your outfits I wish I had the energy to put that much effort into mine and look like a vintage queen, but I am so lazy when it comes to that sort of stuff and I just want things to be comfortable and easy haha. Also I'm so happy that you're a fulltime RUclipsr now, I'm loving all these uploads! ^^ xx
Upon rewatching (I should be doing uni stuff) I fell in love with the outlander top again. Currenntly cry laughing, because I also found it on ebay, in my size, shipping from not half the world away. Sometimes you really do get lucky. And now off to my film analysis so I don't fail my class.
This whole thing was great from start to finish, and i LOVED all your outifts, but LORDHAVEMERCY, you have a MOURNING SHIRT!!!! (i want one too, mourning attire from that time period is a thing with me)
Frodo loves playing with his toys, but doesn't always know when to let go when Rachel offers to throw them for him. But he's so stinkin' cute!! I loved all of the outfits that Rachel wore in 2018!! ALL OF THEM (muwahahahahaaaa!) ~Janet in Canada
Love love love everything you wear! Also, Frodo and The Squeaky Toy is an ongoing saga and I am HERE FOR IT. I would love to see an 18th or 19th century inspired lookbook! I love the fashion from those periods, but it's tricky to bring into modern day clothing. I'd love to see your take on it :) xoxo
I feel the love of vests...I have a plaid wool vest (full back) in navy, taupe and pumpkin. I think it makes me look a little like a hobbit while I go off to my very mundane place of work
when you wear that green blouse, with that milk maid hairstyle, you remind me of the red-haired, weird sister from Chilling adventure of 'Sabrina' or Abigail F. Cowen. 😊
Needless to state that I generally enjoy and love your videos, style, character AND FRODO (one of the most adorable dogs and "dog personas" ever); but finding out that your awards gown was bought from Etsy and adjusted by yourself is really delightful (I assumed you were "equipped" by the organisers)!
A video for my birthday! :D I looove your forest green outfits, feel no shame in wearing them! I'm starting to phase into wearing more vintage style starting with my hair and makeup. I think I'll slowly start wearing more clothes as I can afford them!
The Finale dress was so glamorous! Love the forest green outfit as well. I've got a soft spot for studious looks. Oooh Red Dead Redemption! I'm not a gamer but it's just such a gorgeous and artistic game. I love watching others play it. Whyyyyyy is Frodo so cute!!! It makes my heart ache Hahaha your hiding from the school bus! I was wondering if you also find inspiration on Pinterest?
I adore all of your videos....your imagination astonishes me....but I don't think I could love them as much if I didn't get that bit of "hello" from Frodo! He is totally precious....but tell him I said handsome....don't want to embarrass him!
LOL, poor doggo. He's trying so hard to make fetch happen...♡

One of my favorite looks too!
Love Frodo, he just has to be in every single video, adorable 😁 You are fabulous, as always
If you added trousers to the 2nd outfit instead of a skirt, you'd look like a genuine member of the 1940s Womens Land Army a.k.a the Land Girls
Totally!!!
Omg both love and hate that show 😂. I love watching it but hate myself when I do 😂😂😂

Some sort of fabric tape?
Yeah fabric tape might work! I still haven't figured it out unfortunately 🙈
I just let them lay like ( ) cause I don't care, and I still think there cute

So when you would wear green i would get super excited. Evie is the reason why I follow you hard core because i love Rachael Weiz and her character. I just love the whole first 2 MUMMY movies. She rocks
NEVER HAVE I CLICKED ON A VIDEO SO FAST
😊❤️❤️❤️
I wish I had I love these outfits
Oh, those are amazing! And I love this type of compilation/inspiration video. I never have ideas for the horrible summers here in Alabama, nor can I find shoes I can run around at work in.
This video makes me want to go even further down the vintage rabbit hole. 😻😻😻
Your content is SOOO GOOOOOOD. It gives me feels and I dig it. Your lookbooks are so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Keep doin whatcha doin, cause it's great.
You are fantastic! I want to see the looks that you are going to show us this year! You rules!
Fabulous intro :D :D You were seriously born way beyond your time ! This era suits you so well.
The last 3 seconds of Gilda... exactly why I love your channel 😂😂😂
This type of video was what introduced me to your channel. I still love them!
It's hard to say what my favorite outfits from you are since all of them are so unique and you can't help but stare and admire! I loved your Rita Hayworth Gilda dress. I knew instantly it was Rita inspired. 😍😍😍🤩
Heehee thank you my love!!!!
I feel spoiled that I get to see so many videos a week. Love it! Also all these outfits are #Goals!!
Oh I loved your summer Dorothy outfit and that last one makes me think I need to buy a striped ribbon to wear with a shirt pronto! 👏😍
Yes!! Very Tim Burton! 😂❤️
God I love your style so much!! I get so excited when I see you post a new outfit on Instagram!!
^^ xx
The masculine look is a winner lovely! Super looks that you've pulled together...Styling on point!🙌🙌💃👚👜👖👠👞👔👕👒🎀
Upon rewatching (I should be doing uni stuff) I fell in love with the outlander top again. Currenntly cry laughing, because I also found it on ebay, in my size, shipping from not half the world away. Sometimes you really do get lucky.
And now off to my film analysis so I don't fail my class.
literally all those outfits looked so lovely i can't even pinpoint in my head which one i love the most 🤧
Heehee Ahhh thank you 😭❤️
This whole thing was great from start to finish, and i LOVED all your outifts, but LORDHAVEMERCY, you have a MOURNING SHIRT!!!! (i want one too, mourning attire from that time period is a thing with me)
Frodo loves playing with his toys, but doesn't always know when to let go when Rachel offers to throw them for him. But he's so stinkin' cute!! I loved all of the outfits that Rachel wore in 2018!! ALL OF THEM (muwahahahahaaaa!)

This is what I've waited for and know I'm in LOVE again
Love love love everything you wear! Also, Frodo and The Squeaky Toy is an ongoing saga and I am HERE FOR IT. I would love to see an 18th or 19th century inspired lookbook! I love the fashion from those periods, but it's tricky to bring into modern day clothing. I'd love to see your take on it :) xoxo
I feel the love of vests...I have a plaid wool vest (full back) in navy, taupe and pumpkin. I think it makes me look a little like a hobbit while I go off to my very mundane place of work
Exactly! Hehehe
when you wear that green blouse, with that milk maid hairstyle, you remind me of the red-haired, weird sister from Chilling adventure of 'Sabrina' or Abigail F. Cowen. 😊
Yay! I love these! The tweedy and librarian outfits are my fave!
I love all the forest green, textured fabrics and natural color tones! 💕 You have an eye for what is truly fine!
P.S. Forrest green is my favourite color too☺️
The Finale dress was so glamorous! Love the forest green outfit as well. I've got a soft spot for studious looks.
Oooh Red Dead Redemption! I'm not a gamer but it's just such a gorgeous and artistic game. I love watching others play it.
Whyyyyyy is Frodo so cute!!! It makes my heart ache
Hahaha your hiding from the school bus!
I was wondering if you also find inspiration on Pinterest?
before anything you wear, you must consider the WWEW (What Would Evie Wear) factor
Frodo! Right on time. LOL. I really enjoyed this, and would love a good room tour and maybe a few of your favorite decor finds!
That lady outfit is the best!! I love it. And yes, I DID watch The Mummy today, thanks to you. :) Happy New Year!
I adore all of your videos....your imagination astonishes me....but I don't think I could love them as much if I didn't get that bit of "hello" from Frodo! He is totally precious....but tell him I said handsome....don't want to embarrass him!
