"... If I punch you I don't get to decide whether it hurt you or not." Wise words.
Except no black was around to endure ACTUAL slavery or blackface. So nobody is getting "punched" at all. I can't imagine identifying with ONLY my white skinned ancestors. This is America. Stop playing victim, it's actually pretty prejudiced.
Most Americans, black or white looking, have lots of DNA that comes from other "colors."
But whatever, let SJW culture keep racism alive for blacks, and create new racism for whites.
@@BenHerbivore .... I rest my case. No comment 😂
@@Mario88881000 Yeah, but your case is stupid.
@@BenHerbivore Wow -- so much ignorance in so few words -- well done! The US was built on slavery -- black people were objects, not people. When slavery was finally abolished, white people didn't magically start treating black people as equals. At no time have black people had equal financial opportunity in this nation even tho their ancestors provided the labor that built its wealth -- that's crazy.
The legacy of slavery is a two-tiered society in which a disproportionate percentage of black people live in poverty; have shitty schools; have fewer professional and economic opportunities; and suffer more disease (because polluting industries are built where poor people live) and have a lower life expectancy.
The fact that ANYONE in the year 2018 doesn't grasp this but instead accuses black people of playing the "victim" card says everything that anyone needs to know about systemic racism in the US. If you really think that racism is a thing of the past, that the US offers black and white people a level playing field, then please come look at this bridge I have for sale ...
"You're 47! Racism wasn't [just] invented 40 years ago. 40 years ago they were just getting into the swing of it baby!"
This whole segment was GOLD ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
40 years ago was worse than slavery. OK, Amber.
It’s actually a really good point, I’m 42 and when I was in school it felt like we had cured the whole thing. I went to two schools - my second being in a much more diverse area than the first, and it was like never a thing, but now? Now we’re on the brink of a race war! I blame it on the media and the left as usual,
@@TheLemonPilot ...say all that to people your age who aren't white, every word. In person, Please! Especially the bit about racism feeling like it was cured and not being a thing back then, I'm sure they'll all agree lmao.
Blame it on the left... definitely, all the racists and red hats calling the police and constantly screaming for people to go back to where they come from (ironic) are liberals. Yep... The lefties and their media, grr!

That was my first thought as well.
It's just called being racist 😉
@@bigdickpornsuperstar 😂😂😂
The most factiest fact
Megyn "Jesus and Santa are white, they just are, saw it in a movie" Kelly
Literally my first thought was how are they discussing whether or not something is racist while having an all white panel XD
Me too
Yea, I didn’t understand that either and I’m white lol. I wish Amber was a little nicer about it but she did say “Meghan Kelly asked a question and here’s the answer” if she’d of left it at that I’d have a lot more respect for her.
Because white people don’t need validation from blacks. This just shows that they do not value our opinion regarding OUR RACE! They want to dictate how we should feel without asking us, it’s just wrong and that’s how it’s always been for racist folks. They do not see anything wrong with having a white panel about black issues
@@matthewlocke9225 you don't have to be polite or nice to racists they displayed their inhumanity first so f$%^ them.
@Kemphchtz ummm, Meghan Kelly is only like 40...

To be honest it really reminded me of the white savior movie skit
Right? It’s so cute! Proud papa watching his daughter all grown up! Do your thing amber!

La Femme Fictionale Here, here 😁👍
‘Ear ‘ear! I like her natural hair. No straightening needed. It’s beautiful the way it is.
La Femme Fictionale Yeah....sure you do😐
Stop worshipping people because of the way they look. How old are you?
Diva! Her game is always on point.
Blackface has been considered offensive for a long time. Either Megyn is a liar, or she's 80.
...which, if you round up, is 100.
She's 100.
That's enough!
... She's ancient.
This whole age thing is getting old. Just like megyn kelly
Or she's just ignorant AF.
Blackface has always been considered offensive _by black people._ Megyn is referring to the fact that white people have been insulated from the consequences of their racist actions - a white child wearing blackface on Halloween would not have been accused of racism in the 70s because the only people with a voice to do so were other white people who had no problem with oppressing & objectifying minorities.
Seth: "Amber, that's ageist!"
Amber: "Sorry... I'm 103, but I look so good because black don't crack!"
That got a good laugh out of me...
blacks dont do crack?
@@sabin97 *Black people don't crack. It's surprisingly true, in almost all cases. Black people have great skin, and it defies the processes of aging.
@@brandondavidson4085
so blacks DO do crack?
@@sabin97 Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't you know were racist. Alright, have a good day, go on about your business.
@@sabin97 lmaoo
One more time, for the people in the back:
“Blackface is racist because it turns black people into a costume and divorces them from their humanity. We’re not costumes; we’re people. But more importantly it ignores the severely racist context in which blackface was introduced to this country and actions don’t exist separate from their context.”
There’s your answer. That’s why it’s racist. The context part is of special significance. It’s racist because of the history behind it. That legacy will always be embedded in the practice; it will always have racist connotations. People may want to try and reclaim blackface, to make it not racist, but reclaiming and redefining symbols is... hard. While you’re at it try and redefine the embedded symbolism of white hooded robes in America. Have fun with that.
And dressing up in a Native American feather headdress, unless you’re Native American, is cultural appropriation, which is another no no. Bill Maher and his ilk can howl about PC culture all they want; just don’t do it. There are literally thousands of things you can dress up as for Halloween; not dressing up as a person of another skin color won’t kill you.
And to be clear, you CAN dress in blackface. No one will tackle you and force you to change your costume. The government won’t throw you in jail (hell, under this administration you might get congratulated for sticking it to the libs). This isn’t your 1st Amendment rights being taken away on Halloween. You just can’t do it and expect everyone to not say something about it. Actions have consequences, even if they’re only getting dragged on social media.
The construction of this opinion is so well done I want to weep. It's not often you come across this in the comment section. You've pulled factual information, hooked it to the contention, your because is justified with provable evidence, even when discussing social constructions.
I
I like that you pointed out that we live in an amazing country where you do have 1st Amendment rights! You won't have the government throwing you in jail over something like blackface. It's beautiful because they also can't punish you for speaking out against corruption or other issues in the government! Allowing people to sort of police themselves into creating a society of caring individuals means the whole country can continue to grow for the better! If the government is forcing people to act a certain way it can never be engrained as a true ideal of the people.
The subject never was about wearing a "black person costume" though, it was dressing up as Diana Ross. And as far as I can tell there's never been outrage over Fred Armisen blackening it up for his Obama impression, but I guess it's cool as long as you're left leaning?
You Rock!
I liked watching the black woman sitting behind Megyn Kelly nodding her head like, "yes, it is racist, obviously- wait, she's not done... oh."

If only they had included a black person in that panel.
Like Kanye. Would have fit right in.
Accio Username ... it was productive to have a table without race card throwers ...
Oh dear God!
Productive? How the hell can you have a productive talk about everyday racism when you don't even ask any of those people who actually have to experience this racism? That'd be like inviting someone to talk about a movie who only saw half of the trailer.
WHAT?!
@@peter-johndejong9880 You obviously meant anyone non-white is a race card thrower, right?

This is way too intellectual for Megyn Kelly.
@Abolish Authority
You is having a bad day...chill
@Abolish Authority ...and the real irony here is that you can't see how you're trying to silence the op.
@Abolish Authority Megyn Kelly has no values. It's why she flip flops more than a fish out of water. Is it the lure of money or the national attention that enables her sociopathic tendencies? Is she of high IQ? Undoubtedly. But it's similar to discussing love with artificial intelligence.
@@stephaniesmith4626 Kelly needs to feel relevant. She's muting her reactionary beliefs in order to maintain a diverse audience. She knew about all that sexual harassment at fox and kept her mouth shut to keep her job. "Haughty." Truly believes that she is better than the rest of us.
As for highlighting a reply made against someone who is defending your right to say that Kelly's intellect isn't up to the conversation...
I wholeheartedly support your right to disagree with someone who supports you.
So Megan couldn't find ONE black person to help her understand this????😎 Girl have a seat _/.

People said Michelle Wolfe should get her own show too. Then she got one, then no one watched, then it got cancelled
I think that had more to do with appointment viewing on Netflix. Which is the opposite of what Netflix is about. You watch the first episode and then have to wait a week for the next, but a week later you're off binging some other show and forget about that show from a week ago. You also can't go back after the series is done because it's topical to what happened that week it "aired"...so it has aged horribly. Almost all the shows on Netflix that used appointment viewing schedule have been canned.
Paulycatz82, for me it's more about being lukewarm on Wolfe, never cared for her much, so I didn't watch.
Lmfaooo. Amber is my FAVORITE. Sorry, Seth, we might share a name, but Amber’s sunny disposition is everything. Lol

Truth. I'm white and Black people acting white or wearing white face is really funny. It's funny because there is no historical context of exploitation or marginalization. The two things are very different.
i'd say she deserves her own show, but we saw how that went with Michelle Wolfe.... POSSIBLY the funniest late night show and canceled/cancelled, yet the white guy with a beer gut get's three stand-up specials. Oh, did I describe about seven people with specials on Netflix? Yes. Paul Blart, I did.
I'm sure it had to do with viewership. I've never seen Michelle's show because it was hard enough to stomach her bits on The Daily Show. @@Tetrahfy I think it's fair to both acknowledge how far we've come and to want better. Every time this kind of conversation comes around, there are going to be folks pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable and creating change and there are going be folks that are telling those people they need to behave. Sometimes that criticism is justified, but social change isn't always neat/linear. Thanks for your comments!
@@ajakennedy6072 I think things are getting worse now as opposed to 5+ years ago, because it seems like more people want to benefit from their "oppression". Things have gotten better, and probably things are as good as they will ever be. Unfortunately millennial think the opposite only because they haven't lived during the time of real segregation. and I've lived long enough to watch MILLIONS of white people fight and risk their lives to end slavery. It wasn't that they were volunteers either, but they were drafted and fought for the oppressed to abolish segregation and slavery. Millions of lives were lost, and in the end we accomplished our goal. People today are so lost and it's sad. MLK, and many other activists IMO would say that what people are complaining about today are ridiculous. It's all about victim culture nowadays and it's sad that it's effecting politics heavily. How about improving the economy and stop blaming others for your imperfections and your lack of success. I am a black CEO and I never considered my race to be the issue. It was my qualifications. I started my first business at 19, and I didn't make my first million in sales until age 30. Never once did I blame my race.
@@Tetrahfy Not gonna lie, I don't think you're who you claim to be. Your comments went way left field. I don't think a black person would push a narrative about white people fighting and risking their lives to end slavery, MLK not approving of modern day activism or things today being "as good as they ever will be". I'd try reading a few books to try and educate yourself on the issues. Activism doesn't always look perfect or cookie-cutter, so sometimes criticism can be justified, but claiming that there shouldn't be activism at all is. . . I'd never tell a person who claims any race, culture, religion, sex, anything, that they can't pretend to be someone else because the act of doing so is inherently bad. It's the intent that matters. Drawing lines around what belongs to your tribe in an attempt to define what other tribes are allowed to do only further divides everyone.

I really enjoy how much Seth and Amber behave like siblings. At 2:37 where they keep bobbing in and out. So cute. At 2:09 Seth just smiling at her, like a big brother watching his little sister perform.
At 2:21 They literally sound like siblings bickering. Her tone of voice on "kidding" and "what" are perfect and kill me every time.
Amber: She's fifty tell everybody
Seth: Amber! That's Ageist!
Amber: I'm KIDDING!! She's sixty.
Seth: Amber!
Amber: What!?
Anyone can "decide" what's racist, because anyone can be the victim of racism.
Amber is the funniest comedian on the planet!
Who's really surprised the "Santa has to be white, get over it" itch doesn't understand what's wrong with blackface?! In others shockinh news Amber is fabulous and water is wet..
I laughed so hard my neighbors heard me.
I have a big problem with this. I think at costume parties 'anything goes and everything is fair game'. Some people have no taste but, whatever. Its all or nothing.
I like this lady never heard of her until the other day but she’s funny beautiful and intelligent
You should watch her skits on Drunk History. She's hilarious!
Queen you are in for a treat!
“Not racist”
Said by a table of Whites.
and by me.
a brown person. because apparently the melanin level of someone's skin is somehow important for you.
and by you, if you support the marvel cinematic universe, in which robert downey jr plays a major role.
do you remember him filming tropic thunder in blackface?
I'm sure you'd say it's not racist of Jimmy Kimmel putting blackface on as Karl Malone or Jimmy Fallon blackface as Chris Rock.
actually the people on the panel did call her out on it... they were like ummm yeah, it is...
@@BookNerd4Music
do you support robert downey jr?
he used blackface in tropic thunder....
That's like asking if a man dressing as a woman is sexist.
Great analogy of “if I punch you in the face I don’t get to decide if it hurts or not”
“I just look this good because black don’t crack” 😂😂😂😂😍😍❤️❤️❤️
She’s my favorite on the show.
Unrelated: How the heck is she older than 30!? Stop with the pranks, she’s clearly 20. 😂 Lord, please let me age half as well as her omg.
She looks like she’s in her 30s come on.
0:42 my favorite moment, “ ... and actions don’t exist separate from their contexts” my favorite quote.
I love that Seth and crew leave room for banter/interp.
And it always pay off.
Wait, wait. Wait. So... could I like... dress up as late MJ? I mean, I wouldn't be.. darkening my skin in any way, just putting on a glove, a fedora, a white shirt, black pants and putting in some hair gel. Right? XD
Germ Antibody NO!
Yes you could.
@@mzlady6407 YES
Amber you kill me. Nice threads also!
To be fair racism is thinking one race is worse then others or genuinely profiling the community as a whole, black face is not racist. It's just super offensive, due to it's context.
This was not racist it was light hearted entertainment from yesteryear, The world has gone mad 🇺🇸
However
Have you guys seen Robert Downey jr in Tropic thunder fkn hilarious
Danny bhoy
And he is berated by the other Black actor throughout the movie & learns from his mistake, Also he's not playing a very dignified person/actor. Kind of an a-hole,
Nevertheless one of the funniest movies EVER!!😂
ONLY Robert Downey Jr. could pull that roll off. 🤣 But RDJ's roll could only exist with Brandon T. Jackson's roll to counter it. The roll was making fun of delusional white ppl acting black. It's like they predicted Rachel Dolozol. Lol.
*role
*Dolezal
Dressing up for kanye would be difficult for white person, because every one would just think you as an trump supporter?
*a Trump (because "Trump" starts with a consonant sound)
It’s difficult explaining why it’s racist because it’s racist for all sorts of reasons and taken individually some of those reasons don’t easily stand up to forensic scrutiny. But that’s missing the point and if something causes most members of a group discomfort that right there is a big clue that (if only out of courtesy) you damn well avoid it.
What if we put Santa in blackface? Will Megyn's head simply explode?
Megyn Kelly is the Eva Braun of news
Please grab a history book, preferably a translated one since english speaking historians are not understanding original sources which leads to them writing a lot of bullshit and stop talking about people you know nothing about. Eva Braun was not a public figure
PowerGlove79 That’s taking it way too far!
Leni Riefenstahl would be a better comparison, though not a great one.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Like, as a person with literally no racist atoms in my body, i really didnt understand it. Is it only blackface that is racist due to its history, or is the act of putting on the skin tone of any other ethnicity other than your own in itself racist? As an asian man, and not really into asian films, i can only dress up as characters with other ethnicities.. also, not from the US, so pardon me if I do not relate as well, no offense meant, hopefully none are taken.
It is because historical black face means this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackface#/media/File:Minstrel_PosterBillyVanWare_edit.jpg
So dressing up as racist stereotype of a black person. For some reason the term has shifted in the US to include any white person impersonating a black person, except Robert Downey Jr.
but RDJ was a satire on blackface itself, it wasn't "blackface period".
Oh, you'd be amazed! Have you ever met a Christian fundie? They genuinely think that dressing up as scary creatures is worshiping Satan; it's not just offensive but literally evil as far as they are concerned.
Oddly enough, these same people would probably have no qualms with blackface...and I don't think that's a coincidence either.
You actually do have atoms in your body that were once in a racist.
@@DrWhom ... Is true. Is a Buddhist principle and you just reminded me to see this whole thing in a different light. Thnx.
Damn, calling out her age like that Ouch! That's had to hurt!😂😂😂
LOL! She forgot that she is not on Fox TV anymore. As the saying goes you can't teach an old dog a new trick.
Why doesn't she have her own show yet?
„Actions don‘t exist seperate of their context“. Well Amber, maybe the context of dressing up as Nick Fury from the Avengers is because you think he‘s a cool character, not because you want to degrade black people into second class citizen.
No, it HAS to be racist! Everything is racist.
Amber deserves a show, and I think she could have really good stand up specials/tours, like the ones on Netflix
It wasn't until college that I learned what a minstrel show was. If you ever saw imagery from a minstrel show, you would for sure neverrr question to yourself if blackface is racist.
