      Duklon Stennett NBC is a largely democratic station and she’s pretty much the only republican. So yeah.

    • @oliverburke
      @oliverburke 5 лет назад +36

      Yes, Duklon, ratings.
      Business Insider writes:
      "Megyn Kelly has a three-year, $69 million contract with NBC, but her show's ratings are lagging.
      "Megyn Kelly Today" averages about 2.4 million viewers. "Live With Kelly and Ryan" reaches an audience of 3 million in the same time slot on ABC.
      Tamron Hall and Al Roker, the hosts who previously had her time slot, made less than half of Kelly's salary with higher ratings."
      Viewers = $$$ to advertisers.
      Low views = ads won't pay NBC $$$ for spots
      If ads won't pay NBC = NBC may feel they're not getting what they pay for w/ Megyn.
      If it were just this comment, I think it would have been forgiven, esp. given her big apology the very next day.
      So you may be right: "other reasons"...in addition, I'm sure.

    @anders1245 5 лет назад +156

    We need to separate "offensive" actions from "racist" actions. Actions can be offensive to some people and inoffensive to others. Their offensiveness is completely up to the interpretation of others. What offends one person may not offend another. Racism is different. Instead of being up to the interpretation of others, racist actions are purely about the intentions of the person making those actions. Racism is defined as a belief in the inferiority of a race, or a hatred or prejudice towards a race. A racist action is an action that originates with this racial bias. It's not up to how others perceive an action, but rather what motivated those actions. Taking the example of blackface given in this video, it's perfectly possible to use blackface for either racist or non-racist reasons. If the wearer intends to insult black people, then it's racist. If the wearer simply intends to emulate a role model she looks up to, then it's not racist. Whether this is offensive is a completely different question, and it will vary from one witness to the next. In the end, it's wise to consider how our actions will be perceived by others so that we don't offend people unnecessarily. But when we are offended, we should also try to weigh the intentions of the person who has offended us. Often we'll discover that the intentions were not bad, and this can serve to lessen our feeling of offense. The world is a better place when we try to understand each other.

      @jmarks881 Here is an example, I dress up as Clubber Lang for Halloween, I'm white, wouldn't do a very good job of pulling off the costume being white, not offensive. A black person wants to be Rocky, also wouldnt do a very good job of pulling it off, not offensive. Now, lets say i put on dark makeup for Halloween and im asked who i am dressed up as and i reply " My Neighbor ", That is blackface and that is offensive. If you (not YOU personally) can't articulate yourself well enough in day to day life without mentioning race or color, no matter the race or color, there is an issue. Wen B. That doesn't make it not racist! Yes, it's true that you can't know exactly what it's like to be black if you're white, but you can't necessitate that for her to have any validity in what she says she must be accompanied and approved by a person of a certain race only by virtue of their race because that would be RACISM!

      To the guy screaming that's racist, I know you think you have gotten the other commentor in some intellectual checkmate, but you really just sound stupid amd clearly do not understand what constitutes a racist or culturally insensitive thought. For a white person to determine whether or not a person of color should or shouldn't be offended is actually racist. It just reflects back to a time when a black person opinion was absolutely irrelevant and were forced to espouse what they were told to. What you are saying is the opposite of racist and no amount of wilful ignorance on your behalf will change that.

Just wait though Chris Cumo is playing the same game that Megyn Kelly is play and I'm sure he'll end up in a similar situation. Too many times have I seen Chris Cumo tell black people they weren't standing up for their cause which in my opinion is worse then saying something isn't offensive.

For a person making $69 Million for the show, you'd think they'd have an inch of cultural awareness or consideration, but that behavior and mindset, I would expect much from some entitled pig in the entertainment industry.
