  • Is your Front Loading Washing Machine a little stinky and dirty or moldy? Try using this:

In this video cover the basics of cleaning a front loading washing machine. I clean out the soap drawer, the door and gasket, and run a Tide Washing Machine Cleaner through the special "System Clean" cycle on the Electrolux EIFLS55IIW0. For how often you need to clean front loaders I'm surprised this "System Clean" cycle is so hard to access!
For the best long-term success I recommend leaving your front loader washing machine door open all the time that it's not in use.

Our tray eventually had black mold in it no matter how much I cleaned the tray. It ended up being hidden way back in the drawer compartment. Our clothes always smelled like mildew and we started getting weird rashes and one of our children has had breathing issues. We ended up getting rid of the machine due to chronic health issues and once mold sets in it cannot just be spot cleaned with bleach. It affects the whole using. In now way would I ever consider this an NSF complaint product. It has hidden dangers and I will never be buying another front loader for this reason. I’m glad the days of fresh laundry and no health issues related to mold are gone. I am happy with my top loader and never going back to these piles of junk!

My washer is 10 years old and has no gunk or hard water on the window. I wipe it down with a half sheet paper towel after wash day and leave the door open. I ran the cleaning cycle for the first time today just to see what it does. Sorry Dude. Find an OCD woman to take care of your washer. 🤗

I find it SO annoying that it takes so much time and effort to keep these front loaders clean. Give me an old fashioned washing machine any day. Unfortunately, I had to get one for my new house because I need stackables. I’m not looking forward to it. I’m leaving behind my old trusty Maytag washer that I had for 24 years. The only cleaning it ever needed, was wiping down the top of it. That’s my kind of washer. I better keep this video handy. It looks like I’ll need it.

I dry the rubber gasket whenever I am finished washing and leave the door slightly open. The rubber will not smell if you do that.

Great Video, We put a cup of vinegar in every wash in the bleach compartment to make sure that we don't have consistent build up. We also put two cups of baking soda in the drum and vinegar in the detergent, fabric softener, and bleach compartment filled to the max line on in all of them then I put it on the washer clean cycle once a month. It works better than bleach.

I have the same machine and in the instructions the manufacturer recommends putting in a cup of bleach to clean the machine. I have ruined clothing and towels doing this because residual bleach lingers in the machine and comes out in the next wash. If you do this make sure you wash whites afterwards. I have had another front loader but this one requires cleaning and stinks! Not good at getting work clothes clean either. Of course this machine will last forever just to spite me!

Why does Electrolux make us jump through hoops? I have to look it up every time I want to clean it!

hmm I can't get my washing machine to go into system clean mode...holding those buttons didn't work for me

  • @robinstokes4969

My Electrolux is just like yours but when I press the cobtrol lock and eco friendly button for five seconds it doesn't show the "tub clean" on the screen. I went step by step while watching this video. Still not doing it. What's wrong?

Gave you a thumbs up a few years ago. The washer and dryer came with the purchase of the home (no manuals) but was only used a few times. I sometimes forget which buttons to hit for the cleaning cycle. Hence, why I keep coming back to your video. The washer and dryer are still going strong and your guide helped me learn how to keep it in tip-top shape. Thank you!

Thanks! I never knew how to get to this point when the “clean tub?” message came up along with the flashing “control lock” and “eco friendly “ buttons.

Thanks for the video. I got the same machine as a hand me down and never knew how to access the cleaning cycle. I also leave the door open for an hour after a load and I wipe down my seals very frequently.

We just inherited this washer with our new home. Not only was this extraordinarily helpful, but you changed my life with my toddler by showing me a could push the turn nob in LOL!

I'm so thankful for this video! I have to watch it every time I want to use the system clean cycle because I can't seem to ever remember how to do it.

Thank you this was so informative. I hate the smell my machine gets. We clean the rubber on the front but never knew to clean where the soap goes. My machine is Electrolux also and has a clean washer feature. I can't wait to clean the whole machine thoroughly and follow your instructions. Thank you for posting this video!!
