    Thanks for the video. My Mitsubishi unit was a little different but I figured it out. To anyone hesitating about removing the blower wheel, do it. Mine was so disgustingly dirty I can't believe I was breathing the air that blew through it. This was an extremely messy and tedious cleaning job, but I'm glad I finally did it.

      My aircon unit is also different from the poster's. For me was that i was able to remove the drum, but after cleaning I wasn't able to slot it back, drum's right hand side just won't slot in. I had to call for a aircon cleaning guy, he just use a sandpaper (that I managed to find in my store room) and sand a bit on the drum's right hand side cylindrical pin, and it slotted in without much of a problem. He mentioned my aircon model is one of the toughest to put back the drum, and usually he would clean the drum in-place. I bet this was the easiest S$50 he made, ever! Would I try removing the drum again? LOL, I think not, I could had damage other thing, like the compressor/gas pipe or other stuff while trying to slot in the drum. Maybe next time I will try those water-spray/water-collector-cover-thingy kit and clean without taking out the drum.

    This is very very similar to my 2 year old Fujitsu indoor units. They've stunk every couple of weeks since 1 year after the system was fitted. I booked a deep cleaning where the engineer who visited sprayed the coils and did nothing else.
    I have finally cleaned the blower units in each machine and due to the disassembly, found 2 of them had severely pinched condensate drain runs, which I have now resolved.
    Thank you for posting this video.

    I followed another video’s instructions a couple years ago to clean one of my units for the first time on my own. It was good, but man, I wish yours had existed then. So much great detail, especially the zoomed-in insets. ❤ I made it through, but I think I aged about a year in the process. 😱 Was so scared to break something on this quite expensive (to me) necessity. Glad to see you having to jiggle some parts to “persuade” them to come out. It wasn’t just me 😅. It’s videos like this that have allowed me to save thousands of $ (no joke). Installer didn’t warn me about this maintenance and charged me $600+ to come out to clean ONE unit that was blowing out mildewy air. Used another HVAC company the next time, but their idea of cleaning was pretty sad. Didn’t remove the blower wheel; just sprayed some (appropriate) cleaner on the coils. When I asked him about the blower wheel, he said he didn’t know how to do that 😮. I have 3 units, so had to DIY it or go broke 😠. Thank you!

    Great guide for removing the blower! The one thing that I do differently is to spray the vaporizer (cooler unit/ radiator) with a an AC disinfectant solution before putting the cover back on. It will then rinse itself with the condensation if you leave the unit on for 20-30 minutes. I also use the same solution for the filters after washing them.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I just finished cleaning my mini-split using your video as a guide. Well done! I didn't have the confidence before, but your video gave me the nudge I needed. Also, one tip, don't install the blower wheel all the way to the right (flush up against the side) - it will make a rubbing noise when rotating. I backed mine off about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch to the left before tightening the screw and it runs silent.

    My AC has been making some terrible grinding noises at 3am, I wake up and turn it off as fast as possible. I've put it down to the fan. It's also not nearly as cold as before. I've called dudes in due to not being cold and they just power wash it for lots of money. I'm not calling anyone again. I found this video and I've watched this video 4 times and am ready to give it a go! Hopefully I can find out what is causing the grinding, and clean it out myself at the same time. An excellent video with specific and nice close up shots. Best video yet. I clean my own unit and have used these videos for “reference refreshers” before I do my annual service. Only thing to add like another comment is to spray and clean/disinfect the fins (metal coils) with a cleaner which they sell at most hardware stores. It cleans and conditions the metal and helps future corrosion. Easy one step spray to add while your at it. Thanks again for a great video which will be used as my reference for future!

    • @nicolasnabbs1648
      @nicolasnabbs1648 Год назад +2

      One heads up is to find a cleaner that's for coil cleaning because if you use some other random cleaner it can make the metal coils corrode in future so have to use the right cleaner.

    You should move the whole radiator a bit more out of the way and remove the fan under a smaller angle to avoid damaging the bearing. Also if you do not leave enough space, you could damage the fan while removing it. (Which you almost did in Your video)
    If you live an environment where people are burning stuff, or just your air quality is really bad (polluted), you will get a sticky residue on the fan, and also inside the radiator blades, and the plastic walls. You shall remove those first, even by applying some de-greaser first and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. After that, i recommend some pressure wash, as regular brushing and soaking won't remove all the fungus and bacteria trap on those greasy deposits, so you will regrow them in the matter of weeks. (And you will have to redo the whole process again)
    Never use base liquids on your aluminium radiator, or it will leak.
    The "Spindle holder" is actually the rubber bushing of the sleeve / ball bearing on the fan, prior to re-installing it, you should check if it has enough OIL in it, otherwise it will run dry and damage the axle. (Also it will run noisy)

      can you help, what grease is used to lubricate that rubber part on the left side where the turbine is inserted? I see that the factory is something white/gray, is it some kind of Teflon grease?

    • @djnor1979
      @djnor1979 3 месяца назад +1

      @@mateokidsvideochannel You mean inside the bearing? If it is a self-adjusting bearing bead (porous one, used by cheap brands) you can use fan oil. If it is ball bearing, you should use appropriate grease there. (Just ask your local hardware store which one they recommend)
      And you do not lubricate the rubber part, that is only there for shock / noise reduction, the bearing inside of it must be lubricated. (You can take them apart to see it better, they are not glued together)

    Great video, saving people money!
    You're providing a great service to people... I've got an HVAC buddy and I asked him to check the pressure of my freon. I told him I'd read that low freon will cause freezing over. He said yes, as well as dirty filters and blower wheel.
    I'd never thought the blower wheel would have such an impact, but I'd also noticed diminished air flow... waiting till sunset to pull blower wheel. My filters have never really been dirty, each time I cleaned them.

      @@sosolomon22 so I tackled the job just this last weekend, the level of build up was very scary, the blower fins were completely caked in grime and mould so its no wonder it was struggling to keep the place cool. I took photos but cant share them here.
      Main differences between my Daikin and the Mitsubishi you show here is that they used more screws, such as the screws instead of catches for the drain tray, and the blower wheel did not have a retaining screw, instead its held in place by a large ring magnet.
      All in all, the main principles were the same and again I thank you for such a well detailed tutorial that gave me the confidence to tackle this task and save me a lot of money.
