Makes me glad I still use a top loader, I've never had to clean the inside of top loaders for odor or mold in my lifetime, and I'm 63 years old.
Wish I had a top loader lol. Funny you’re here but you don’t have this issue? Lol :)
i have a top loader but i usually throwing a cleaning packet and some vinegar in. you also have to be careful to wipe under the rim because dead skin and gunk gets stuck under there
I have a top loader and it still needs to be cleaned. gross
Short and sweet! Wow! I am so glad I found your video
Glad you found it valuable 👍🙂
Fantastic advice!

I was about to search 'how to clean a washing machine', then i remembered, Hey I know an awesome dude who probably has a very helpful easy video on how to do it
Loved the humour and style too 😉
Happy to help!
Dude, that was perfect. Thanks brotha.
Happy to help
Got to love the new machines.
I remember having a washer machine and never needing to clean it, it never smelled and I never had to worry about leaving clothes inside out of fear they start to smell. I also never worried much about how much I put inside the machine.. The machine would just take it.
The new stuff is so dam sensitive it can barely handle anything.
You are so right. I bought a washing machine for $25 and it lasted like 5 years doing nothing to it!
you also didn't get your clothes leaned as well. no matter how much you think you did. these didn't add settings and options for fun and money. some options, sure but these all were upgraded for the better.
Rubber was let goo too long. I try & do it after each cycle so’s it will not get bad. Thanks for video. Must do this. I don’t have a smell , but it would b good go the washer
Thanks Tommy ❤
You are welcome
Thanks mate

Thank ypu!

I have a modern machine that is about 8 or 9yrs old and it has smelled for about the past 2yrs now and in my opinion they can keep these other brands because I'm getting a Kenmore or Maytag machine since I have had both years ago and never had a issue of having to clean them but I appreciate you for sharing how to clean the machine going forward. Thank you😁👍🏾
happy to help
You forgot at the very bottom of the machine.. the little door on the left. OPEN DRAIN CLEAN FILTER...
Why not use the sanitize cycle, instead of Normal (no Clean Tub cycle?
Ah good, someone who knows how to use baking soda and vinegar to clean *properly.*
A lot of folks direct you to mix the two together for cleaning, which is very rarely a useful idea. You do get a nice foaming bubbling action, but that's not soap suds, that's just saltwater and carbon dioxide. (The salt is sodium acetate, not sodium chloride, but it's still salt water, it's just a fancier salt.)
There's a few very niche circumstances where the bubbling action itself is beneficial for cleaning. But that's pretty rare, and honestly, unless you're entirely avoiding conventional soaps, some hand soap or dish detergent will do the job better. (Oh, and don't use it to get clogs out either, you might manage to push the clog out into a wider bit of pipe where it can flow freely, but you might also just compact the clog more, making it a worse blockage that's harder to get out with the drain auger you probably should have used in the first place. They're not all that expensive, and are much easier to store than a standalone plumbing snake.)
Binge watching your videos, so forgive me if I make too many comments. Is there a reason you would only use water on the gaskets (assuming that is what that gray silicone like circle is called) if there is mold inside? I've heard that vinegar can corrode gaskets, but is there another cleaner that is safe there? Mine has some black stuff, and I want something stronger than water to clean it. Thanks!
No worries, welcome to the channel! You can use the TIlex Mold and Moldew Remover 🙂
I talk about that product in my newest video I just released.
I just bought some citric acid to do this. I wonder which one works better. I dont have a fancy machine with all the bells and whistles, its a simple top load speed queen and i love it. Can I just run the machice for a few minutes and then pause for say an hour to let it soak. My normal wash cycle is probably only 10 minutes
You have a simple top load Speed Queen??? That is not just a simple washer, that machine is a Cadillac of washing machines👍🏼👍🏼💯💯
the problem is people use the same amount of soap they did for old crappy washers. now you literally only need 3 tbps and trust me your clothes will be clean. these washers are made to clean with minimal soap.
This is because everyone these days uses quick and cold washes which causes build up and mould!
Put it on some hot or boil washes with you’re whites or towels use powder detergent to now and again especially for hot washes and you’re machine will never have mould or smells also leave the door a jar and run a tub clean once a month with a good washing machine cleaner
Whirlpool do a very good machine cleaner.
DIY dollar tree sells denture brushes for $1.25. Sturdy and has two sides of bristles that are sturdy
👍🏼👍🏼💯💯💯💯💯💯 Those are excellent for cleaning
Do you use the vinegar that you use on food or a cleaning vinegar?
either one will work
Good video, but aren't soda crystals better at cleaning than baking soda?
I’m curious how much all this hot water running is going to effect my light bill.
I love toothbrushes for cleaning.
* Hey what about draining the water in that tube behind the bottom bottom door?
Your hot water heater may be the most expensive appliance, but that's mostly from keeping the water hot at night when you're not using it. So maybe do this clean cycle when you're not otherwise using hot water.
I use draino.
Can regular white vinegar be used?
yes
i'm having a hellova time finding simple distilled white vinegar (either sold out or stores carry only 30% concentrated). can i safely use 30% concentrated or hold off until i find distilled white vinegar? thank you kindly.
No I would wait until you find regular strength vinegar
30% is so called distilled vinegar, it should be clear and it works. You might have to use a full cup of it (2.5dl.), but it is exactly the same stuff. Here I get 35% for some reason, and I have never seen over 60% concentration and is not easy to find. However, you can with advantage use citric acid as a replacement, it looks a bit like sugar crystals and does a very good job.
The drum clean on my Samsung was 60C (140F) and the normal cycle with extra water level could go up to 90C (195F), it makes a difference too.
@@turtlefromthenorth This is actually incorrect. 30% is called industrial strength vinegar. Distilled vinegar is 5%. I would wait and find 5% for your washing machine.
@@CleanWithConfidence In the grocery stores I can get 35%, it is called vinegar essence on the bottle. It is the regular vinegar used for anything from cleaning to food. It is distilled or purified in some way.
From paint shops and similar outlets vinegar comes in containers marked "technical vinegar" and tend to be 30% to 60% (but lower percentages are available). These are clear, pure vinegar acid in water.
Distilled here means it is pure vinegar acid, any concentration from low to high. It is purified by distillation or some other methods; any residue from the fermentation process is removed. I guess it means much the same; "distilled", "technical" or "industrial". For most use, these are diluted in water, like in the washing machine. I have never come across the term "industrial" in local stores where I live.
@@turtlefromthenorth Yes you must be in a different country. In America distilled white vinegar contains 5% acetic acid and is safe for cooking and using in a washing machines. Vinegar with 30% acetic acid in America is called industrial vinegar and isn't for cooking at all and wouldn't be recommended for washing machines. That strength of acetic acid would eat the rubber gaskets overtime.
I have cleaned the machine with the washing machine cleaning packet. My gasket is stained with mold. This never happened with my top loading machine. I’ve left open the door and tray. I’ve wiped down the gasket after each use. Nothing prevents this growth making it a manufacturing problem not allowing the water to drain out completely. Seriously disappointed with this machine.
How much vinegar ? Thanks.
Just fill up the trays
I would clan gasket first
How do i clean hard waterv out of the toilet?
Here is a video I did about that. The first part of the video is an experiment so I would skip to 2nd part.
ZEP brand at Home Depot makes a GREAT Acid toilet bowl cleaner with a pleasant fragrance and it has always worked great on my iron stained bowl! 😊
